As a Wisconsin sports fan, it's great to finally be on the winning end of a Hail Mary pass.

For starters, and someone would have to look this up, I think that was the biggest Packer comeback since the '89 season.

Clear eyes. Full hearts. Can't lose.

Total Friday Night Lights ending.

Good memory. A Matt Flynn game. I know the biggest deficit the Packers overcame in all of the Favre years was 10 or 14. Once the Packers would get down, Favre would go into gotta-make-something-happen-oh-shit-I-threw-another-pick mode.

Did you see Aaron interviewed by Tracy Wolfson after the game where she asked if he'd ever been of part of something like this before and he said basically "Yeah, it's nice to be on the other end of it." The only other thing I wish he would've said was "and Richard Rodgers definitely caught the ball" w/a sneer toward Golden Tate added in for good measure.

Everybody wants us to get the division back this week w/a Seattle win but I'll wait & hope for that to come down to week 17. I'd rather see Seattle eliminated asap. HATE that damned team even more than I hate the Vikings at this point so seeing them eliminated from the postseason & the resulting bandwagon fans evacuate and/or make excuses would be priceless.

I saw that. It was great.

All the Packers have to do, is be 1 game down to the Vikings by week 17. They beat the Vikings in week 17 they are the division winners.

I agree with Seattle.

Right. But he had 8 catches for 162 yards. Best receiver on the field today for either team. He plays to his ability. I take him over Finley any day and twice on Sundays. And 3 times on Thursdays LOL.
Now I have to admit I was severely depressed after the 20-0 and lifeless O display. But some young guys played well tonight. 8-4. 2 more Ws and they are in the playoffs.

oh I admit that. I haven't been that pissed in a long time with the lack of effort and heartlessness on the O. And I absolutely stand by that. I've also said the D played relatively well and was at least fighting, and I also stand by that. And when did it change at least a bit on O? When McCarthy went into desperation mode and played his younger guys more.

I also stand by something else - Rodgers was off again last night for the most part. He couldn't find open receivers, most his throws were off target, and he didn't play well at all. The miracle throw at the end was amazing, though.

But one more thing - how does SIMMS have a fricking job? Every single time he said that no receivers were open the screen in front of my face showed at least one open receiver, and in most cases 2 or more. Wished that dude would either get a new prescription for glasses or comment on what he sees and not what he wants to see. The receivers were not the biggest problem on O last night. OL and QB were huge problems.

The win last night was lucky, but the team should've won at least one of the 2 Lions and Bears home games with either the FG or a TD catch. And now they are in good position for getting into the playoffs. 2 more wins and they are in for sure. But Rodgers has to play better - the QB that is. If the TE keeps playing like he did last night, we'll be alright. And refreshingly, he is a humble individual who actually catches balls and plays to his ability, which in all fairness is very limited. But again, I'll take him any day over a guy like Finley who should've and could've been as good as Gronk in ability but never showed it on the field yet ran his mouth all the time.

It's funny. I thought Rodgers started to get it together this game. His start was brutal (every screen pass was at the RBs ankles, etc.). But by the second half his accuracy was much improved.

Rodgers' poor passes at targets behind or just beyond the line of scrimmage are nothing new, and not a part of a slump- it is a weakness in Aaron Rodgers' game that has been evident since he's been a Green Bay Packer. I never really followed Rodgers' college career, so I can't speak on that.

Aaron Rodgers, historically, has zero touch on balls thrown very short. He's always thrown screen passes, for instance, with no loft and at knee-to-ankle height of the target, often behind the intended target as opposed to gently leading over their shoulder. He also throws FB and TE drags within a yard or two of the LOS poorly, usually too hard and with a flat trajectory that makes them hard to handle and often batted down by linemen.

I know over at Jersey Al's there have been a small number of us over the years, Including Al, who have commented on this lacking area of Rodgers' game. I have always thought it was Rodgers' fear of a pick 6 that drives him to throw these behind the LOS or very short passes the way he does- most QB's gently loft the ball with some air under it to allow the intended receiver to get in position under the ball without having to break stride too much. I think Aaron is uncomfortable with giving the pass any more time than it needs to get to the target for fear a defender will make a play on the ball, and that's why he throws them too hard and too flat... I also think he intentionally throws them low at the receiver's knees to feet for the same reason- to put it where a defender most likely won't get to it.

The problem is, it forces the receiver to break stride, often face back towards the QB completely, they lose momentum, balance and vision to make the catch, and it affects their ability to make the catch and maximize production after the catch.

It's an area Rodgers' is abysmal at, and has always needed to improve. I actually have been more impressed with some of his screen passes over the last few games than I have ever been with a Rodgers' screen pass over the last 7 seasons. I saw one where he actually put some loft on the ball.

I made the same comment watching the game several times. Simms was saying what he wanted the screen to show whether the screen showed that or not. He needs to realize most of us can now pause and rewind the play and show just how wrong he is when he does that.

I will take Finley over RR. Sorry to be the realist here. But, note that RR did a lot of damage over the middle, a place where I have been screaming that GB needs to attack for some time. It helps to use your TE correctly.

What did Finley ever do besides run his mouth? Please let me also remind you that the Pack won the SB when Finley was injured. And they played much better that season without Finley than with him. I think people want to remember his athleticism and, on paper, great ability. But on the field he was mostly invisible. I think people liked the idea of having a guy with Finley's ability on the team, but his production wasn't better than Rodgers. Before laughing, look at this:

Finley in his first 2 seasons had played in 27 gms for 61 recs and 750 yards with 6 TDs, and altogether 20 TDs career total
Rodgers in is first 2 seasons so far has played in 28 gms for 68 recs with 664 yards total and 8 TDs. I bet if he stays healthy he will surpass 20 career TDs easily. He also hasn't fumbled yet even a single time. And unlike Finley, he seems to be able to stay healthy.

And in addition, from all I hear and see in interviews and what I read, Rodgers is a humble individual who does his job. Unlike loudmouth Finley.

"Fast is fine but accuracy is everything

If you can't be fast at least be accurate in catching the ball when it comes your way. Pretty much sums up Richard Rodgers. I'll take him.

I actually did a rewind after the game and showed my wife in slow-mo where R. Rodgers was when the all was thrown and what he did to catch it. twice. It was unbelievable. He seemed disoriented at first but then located the ball in the air, went up and got it. No Lion was within 15 yards of him when A. Rodgers lauched that ball... Lions coach said they expected a lateral, not a hail mary. I also don't understand (but am happy about it last night) that the 3 man rush is still in any DC play call list. Unless the opposing O is on it's own 5 yard line with 1 second left, there is no reason to ever just rush 3. But teams constantly do it in games.

Holy. Fucking. Shit

Most unbelievable ending to a Packers game in memory.

Now they have 10 days before the next game. The extra rest will be good for them, especially the O-line.

R. Rodgers looked good, Crockett looks promising, Abby made a catch. Adams finally has a TD.

Maybe the can ride this wave of momentum through the season and into the playoffs. Who knows....

I just want to hug you all.

I turned the game off after the 2nd quarter. I couldn't stomach the the halfass efforts majority of the players were putting out there. But the Cheesehead in me couldn't fully turn my back, so I tricked myself into following the game via Live Chat on the CHTV app.

Maaan. Maaan. Maaan. Maaaaaan.

I can't wait to watch this film. From the highlights I've seen -- Richard Rodgers finally decided to play to his size, Aaron Rodgers played with some fire, and Cobb actually made some key plays. I don't know how the defense looked in the 2nd half, but they must have turned things up. I wonder if Adams is now on track to get his confidence back? Cobb too? Hopefully Ty can get healthy.

I know we're going to see a lot "but still..." comments, but a win is a win and I'll take it! We can only hope this team can get healthy and rested later in the season and become more consistent.

Go! Pack! Go!

Oh yea, I'm talking CRAZY SH*T at work tomorrow! I'm sending out e-mails as soon as I hit this submit button.

It was nice to see Crockett get some snaps (and he did a fine Job), but I would have much rather seen Raijon Neal in green and gold at this point in the season.

Still for the life of me don't understand how the Packers cut a healthy Raijon Neal with the production he displayed in preseason (and the hands he has out of the backfield), to keep Alonzo Harris who produced little in preseason and exited preseason with a broken hand.

Yes there are still lots of problems. Did Lacy miss a meeting or something? Why does every receiver suddenly look like Rich McGeorge wearing cement shoes? Are there any offensive linemen left?

But that's for next week! Right now just enjoy that a team playing with 4 backup offensive linemen, a practice squad running back, and invisible receivers just won the most improbable road game ever.

Enjoyed the Rich McGeorge reference. His first couple of years after coming out of tiny Elon College he had very good speed for a TE. After blowing out a knee vs the Raiders the "cement shoes" analysis was accurate, knee and achilles tendon injuries in the 70's shortened a lot of careers. Now we see players with ACL's back within a year as good as ever, some with multiple ACL injuries, some to both knees, the medical technology is amazing.

Tore my ACL in 2000. Arthroscopic surgery. Walked a day later. Started running again about 4 weeks after that and haven't had any issues since. I'm not a pro athlete of course, but I am sure I was back to my form about 6 months after the surgery. The biggest deal is that they don't have to cut open the knee anymore as in days past. Just 2 tiny holes below the knee cap. Nobody would even know I had surgery. Back in the day they cut open the knee and one can still see the scars on those knees. and the cut itself took quite some time to heal.

I liked Rich McGeorge he has just become the go to guy when describing a slow player. It all goes back to a radio comment made once about him I never forgot and it described him as "running too long on one spot". I think it predates Max McGee on the radio so I can't remember who said it.

Want one reason? How about 4 reasons?

1. He looks like a pile of mashed potatoes.

2. On the sideline it looks like he's concentrating on an Applebee's menu

3. It's obviously his favorite side dish.

4. It rolls of the tongue beautifully. Just say it a few times. It'll stick to your vocabulary like mashed potatoes stick to your ribs!

Boy its nice being on the good end of a play like that!

It's because we all know he is a guy who loves Mash Potatoes... he reminds me of the uncle at Thanksgiving who has a plate overloaded with them and always ends up with half of it in his face. I also noticed when he does press conferences it sounds like he has a mouthful of mashed potatoes... who cares though I love McCarthy!

OK, I just slapped the shame off of my face and replaced it with a big smile. This one I won't forget, I work with mostly lolion's fans. I'll probably get punched in the face at work.

- Couple of notes here.
- Never ever give up hope.
- Almost everything everyone wanted for a month was on display today:
Abbrederis...check
Receivers in motion....check
Screens....check
More Janis...check
Trips/bunch formation....check
Continuation of good D...check
Jake Ryan time.....check
Throw to RR once he's down the field
already...check
This is not a signature win. Or a proud win. But a win that can serve as a rallying point. Just hope we get healthy. That Oline was scary in the first half.
Go pack!!! Always.

Bohj,
You said what I was thinking all game long. I saw MM try lots of variations. Some didn't work, but this was first game where I think he really varied things up. Well said with your checklist.

And how about bringing in new RB Crockett. That was a risk too, and paid off. I totally missed the personnel move bringing Crockett back.
I hated it when he was cut, as I thought he had a more contrasting style of running than Lacy/Starks.

I was hard on MM all year, so I'm gonna give credit now.

How about one that we didn't know we needed but was a great find. John Crockett bringing much needed energy.

If this kid can stay in control of himself he could provide us a much needed huge spark. He is a freaking ball of energy and his presence lifted the offense when we needed it the most.

Now to the coaches. Lets not decide to sit him for 4 weeks and play him again then. The kid brings energy, speed, and power. USE IT!!!

'This is not a signature win. Or a proud win. But a win that can serve as a rallying point.'
This could be considered a signature win. A win that you can look back on the season and say, That it was the point in which turned the season around.

So I skewer RRodgers prior to the game in a post and he has the game of his life. I must have some reverse mojo going.

Don't care if they deserved it or not - I'm elated!

A Lions fan texted me this during the second half when the Packers were rallying and I was feeling dismal for my team:
"Don't forget about your 12th man: The Detroit Lions themselves."
Even though we were losing I couldn't stop laughing.

Amazing to witness that!! Hopefully will give the offense their mojo back. Undoubtedly problems with JJ and Adams but kudos to RR..i have to admit I did not think he had it in him.
What has gone on with Lacy?? Is he done as a GB player?? Seems to be troubled by more than that isreported

Aaron Rodgers had to give up complete control and just toss it up and let his wide receiving corps make the play for him.. And they did. And it rewarded him with the 'best feeling' he's ever had from a game.

Learn from it, Aaron. Sometimes, you just have to have faith your team mates will make something happen. I know they haven't done enough to earn that trust at times this season, but you gotta keep the faith!

Hope this is the spark we needed to see the offense turn it around.

From the dislikes I guess we're back into that mode again where we're not allowed to suggest Aaron Rodgers has room for improvement in any way, shape or form, huh?

Sorry, I didn't get the memo.

I was at the game.

That's the craziest game I've ever seen live.

+ Huge Win
+ Being alive while Aaron Rodgers is playing QB
+ Defense looked great
+ Crockett impressed in debut
+ Barclay / Bakh playing solid enough

- Getting in 1/2 way through 1Q because of security
- Offense still has a lot of work to do
- Lions fans being obnoxious all night

++ Lions fans shutting up
++ Lions fans melting down on the radio post-game

All I can say is:

It's a good thing AR threw that one a mile high because R. Rodgers needed the extra time to shuffle down the field to the end zone. ;)

On the replays it appears to be a perfect set up with the other WRs "screening" the Lions defenders for RR. Interestingly, RR said in the post game that he was supposed to be one of the screeners and Adams was to be the leaper.

Obviously everyone saw RR turn 360 prior to the catch. He said he knew where the ball would come down and was checking to make sure he would be in the end zone. He also said he knows he's not the fastest guy so he has to make catches. He can certainly do that.

Amazing win!!!
Great to see AR running down the field with a little kid's joy after his miraculous Hail Mary pass!
Great to see AR in the 4th quarter standing on the sidelines cheering on the defense!
Great to see an UDFA (Crockett) give a spark to an offense that sorely needed one!
After a perfectly awful 1st half, great to see the entire team rally together!
Could this win give the Packers the momentum needed to turn this season around and carry us to the Super Bowl?
Now that would be truly great!

Am gladly eating crow. All day I called for RRodgers not to start, called him too slow. Also said Crockett call up was useless because MM would not play him anyway. And as a lot of other people felt the whole team aside from D had no heart. So glad to eat crow tastes good. . But I did watch whole game and held out hope for a miracle. Talk about a gut wrenching game!!!!! Now let's go home and really beat Dallas!!!!!

Hey, I'm there with you about Rodgers. I said the same things about Rich Rodg. He really stepped up his game last night. Without him we don't win. He made big time plays all night.

One thing that I think maybe did help him though was to be used a little bit less... Another thing that helped, is he attacked the middle of the field. We haven't been attacking the middle of the field enough, and Rodgers provided that last night.
