Let me first say that I have been a Packers fan for 55 years. Now onto today's game. How many olffsides can a team have? How many dropped passes could they have? How many Shit For Brains (SFB) penalties will they get? The defense has SFB. Love is the most overpaid SFB QB in the league. Bring in Willis! How many times will he throw a pick 6 besides other picks? Or throw the pass over the receivers' heads? The Lions go for it on 4th and five yards for a TD for the sole purpose of getting the Packers dline to jump. SFB dline jumps, first down, and TD. The Packers are not even close to being as good as the Vikings or the Lions, whole different class. Lions receivers are wide open all the time.

and a lot of those mistakes fall directly on this coaching staff...Lions have Ben Johnson who matches up with that on the Packers...no one, especially not MLF.

i to am getting concerned that Jordan is not learning from his mistakes of forcing things when under pressure. receivers didn't help today with all the drops. then there's brady trying to give excuses for the drops by the receivers while the lions receivers didn't have any problems with it. these mistakes are what makes an average team average. good teams minimize these mistakes. our coaching staff seems to be ok with them.

you are what you are. when he was a junior he was great. when he was a senior he looked like he looks now. he threw lots of interceptions then also. he is a lot like farve. trys to make plays when there are no plays available. throws into triple and double coverage. holgrem had the same problem with farve. i do believe if he was more mobile (not with an ijury) he would be better. perhaps he should be rested?

Tough game for the Pack against the best team in the NFC. Better coached, better players, better prepared, more physical, better execution, etc. That said, I think the Pack showed a lot of spunk for such a young team. Love throwing for twice the yards as Goff AND keeping his interception streak alive; and the offense running up over 400 yards of offense (and a bunch more if you include the penalties) while holding Detroit to well under 300 yards. Now if they could only figure out how to score (spoiler alert: they won’t).

It's a loss. In some aspects a bad loss. What was the difference?
1)The Lions offensive line might be the best in the league. It's no accident Goff can sit back and pick teams apart.
2) The Lions have speed at running back. Compare that speed to the Packers backs.
3) They don't make mistakes. In that regard, the Packers are playing like the teams in the 70's and 80's where they fumbled, threw interceptions and had multiple penalties each game. Yes this is a young team but a lot of it has to laid at the feet of the coaching staff.
4)The Lions have drafted extremely well. If you look at the number of top picks who are producing, it's amazing.
5) Love has been hurt but he's not the player of a year ago. His mobility has been shut down by injuries, taking away a potent weapon. But he is still making rookie mistakes. When you sign for the money Jordan you can't make stupid mistakes.
6) The Packers have few leaders. The Lions have plenty. When the team needed a boost from solid leadership there wasn't much.
7)Quay Walker. Why?
The Lions played like they didn't care about the conditions, but the Packers clearly let it affect them.
This is a team with about a 9-8 season. I don't think they will make the playoffs unless LaFleur can rally them out of the doldrums.

I mostly agree, except for the last point. The Packers are 6-3. I don't think they will go 3-5 the rest of the way. Even if they go 4-4, they will be 10-6 and will almost certainly make the playoffs.

On the point of the running backs. Where is the much awaited draft pick Marshawn Lloyd? He's off IR and could have returned by now, right? If he's all he's hyped to be GB could have that attack on the ground.
Yes, the Lions have started to draft well the last few years and draft contributors. Not RAS projects to be developed with high round picks.
A hobbled ankle or a bad groin doesn't make the decision to throw that pick six. That's in between the ears.
No faith in Wrong Way Quay? Me neither. He needs to be platooned into situations and hopefully those situations don't demand a lot of decision.
I thought the weather would help undo the Lions. It undid the Packers.

I don't think the Packers are embarrassed in any way, shape, or form about losing to an obviously superior squad.
The Pack is going to win 10 or more regular season games again and will possibly win a playoff game before inevitably bowing out prior to the Super Bowl.
It is what we do in Green Bay and the Organization appears to be just fine with it.

November 03, 2024 at 07:01 pm
I thought the defense played an adequate to decent game excluding Nixon's holding penalty that gave the ball back to Detroit at a crucial point. Holding the Lions to 17 points and less than 300 yards of total offense was acceptable work.
The offense on the other hand was abysmal despite all the yardage gained. Penalties, drops, bad snaps, bad red zone offense and a horrific pick six are a prescription for losing a game. You can't make that many mistakes and beat another NFL team, much less a good ream like the Lions. Lafleur needs to use the bye to get his offense straightened out. The defense is playing well enough to win, but the offense isn't.

Yeah NP, that 4th quarter "drive" put the capstone on the day for me. Second and one and they give the ball up on downs deep in Lions territory. The variation in offensive planning/results is maddening with this team. I hope Saleh can bring some insight into the offense for LaFleur because we have seen this movie too often before.

Terrific analysis Guam! This game was lost through sloppiness of the offense. When it happens once you go, shit happens. When it happens multiple times you go, are the coaches the problem? Are they watching games in denial? MLF is certainly a great offensive mind. But is he a great HC? Certainly, voters for COTY have never thought so. I realize this is a very young team but where is the discipline? MLF may be a great Xs and Os coach but does he have the patience and fortitude it will take to fix the sloppiness of this young team?

The Lions played as though they were built for inclement weather despite playing their first outdoor game this season. They were very efficient and mistake-free. The Packers, on the other hand, had a hard time hanging on to the ball with numerous drops and sloppy QB--center exchanges.
The Packers did a lot of roaming up and down the field on offense, but as far as cashing in went, nothing but a close to meaningless touchdown near the end. They also had 10 total penalties, never helpful when you're playing a top team.
Love needs refinement with his decision-making. He did not play a smart game. The INT before the half was inexcusable, and then the offense managed to flub a second-and-one series late in the game deep in enemy territory--and somehow ended up turning the ball over on downs.
I thought that contract to Nixon was a little extravagant...
Bottom line: Lions' methodical approach with Goff beat Love's freewheeling style with the appropriate game plan for the conditions.

Nixon and Alexander won’t be on the roster next year.. hopefully Walker will be a backup. Then they will be good enough to carry the inconsistent Jordan Love. I appreciate Nags recognizing Love's injuries. Personally, I don't think this was fully MLF's decision--just a hunch as he played him conservatively.
I wish grown men (fans) would lay off the mean-spirited comments and the guy heal.
Packers have several deep personnel problems and it's the responsibility of Gute and Coaches to fix them and it might take 1-2 years. It is not the responsibility of Evan Williams, Love and MacKinney to carry this team
There are no corners-Jaire is out 50-60% of each season and neither Nixon, Valentine nor Stokes are adequate.
Pass Rush is an expensive problem to fix but it has to be addressed.
Love is injured and should not have been out there. Groins don't heal in 6 days. Malpractice.

You guys are being too tough on your selves. First the weather sucked. Second but for a few plays, the game wasnt even equal the packers put up more yards then the Lions did. Here's the difference I see
1. Packers with Love are not a come from behind team. Today the passing game was off. Wet ball, wind, poor route running, poor passes, who knows probably a combo of all of the above.
2. Jacobs is pretty decent but I like the Lions approach, you got two backs who know what their role is and what to expect. Its not a miss mash of who is playing when. Lions beat you up with Mont for a few series then they bring in the fast guy who can break it open. Defenders are used to the speed on Mont and all of a sudden the guy is runnig by you. Packers have two backs who look the same with the same speed and size and there is no surprises.
3. Loves passing is off and has been most of the year. I know he did not practice this week so that has the timing all screwed up. Pack fans should be aware Love was an interception machine in college and that wastn div 1 play. 17 interceptions isnt good.
4. Packers are doing more 5, 6 7 man rushes, the 4 man rush didnt work meaning the dbacks have bigger problems trying to defend guys in the open.
All isnt lost but the Packers do have a tough road going forward. Lions, 9ers next four games. IF the Vikes win tonight that puts even more pressure on the team to get it done. A couple of loses and kiss the playoffs goodbye and think next year. Lions arent folding and neither are the Vikes.

Two dud games this year, both at home against division rivals. Weird. The Packers ran up some meaningless offensive stats but were completely outclassed.
Jordan Love is trying to win the ballgame with every throw. There was quite a contrast between the degree of difficulty of his throws vs. Jared Goff's throws. Goff was throwing in rhythm to open receivers. Love was launching the ball 30-40 yards into the wind and rain and hoping his receivers could make acrobatic catches with a wet ball. Even the shorter throws were contested and needed to be zipped in there at high speed, making them difficult to catch.
Some weird announcing by Tom Brady:
1. Going on a digression about Matt LaFleur being a handsome, well-groomed guy.
2. Defending Brian Branch at length for a blatant head shot that was well-deserving of an ejection. I thought he should be kicked out of the game before I even saw the replay, and the replay confirmed it.
3. Failing to identify Aaron Mosby for beating the Lions' RT and getting a sack--even on the replay. Rashan Gary is #52, not #53.

After watching the Badgers open with a nice drive ending in a FG yesterday, I thought it was Groundhog's Day with this one. Detroit was regularly opening holes for its backs so that they weren't getting touched until they were yards downfield. For the most part, the score didn't get out of control in this one, but it never really felt as close as the scoreboard might've indicated.
In general, it seemed like the moment was too big for the Packers. They seemed to have been getting better in the penalties department, but today was absolutely frustrating and it was veteran players as much as younger guys. I think we all remember James Jones and Davante Adams playing through their butterfingers, but man, Wicks is taking snaps away from someone who can hang onto the ball.
Josh Jacobs and the other backs ran hard today. I thought the OL mostly did a nice job of getting push...gave me some hope early.
With the bye week and a Chicago team that seemed to be coming apart against AZ today, Packers need to be getting healthy and leaning into their big backs.

let me start by saying that im not going to rehash the "it was an embarrassing game" nonsense. That's obvious to anyone who watched. A common thread continues to run through this season; Jordan Love pressing trying to make shit happen that isn't there, penalties that are just sloppy and unacceptable, poor special teams play, and dropped passes. The lions are arguably the class of the league, but our defense kept them under 300 yards of total offense-there were lapses , but the d kept us in it even without two starters in the secondary That pick six before the half was a dagger. The center situation has to be addressed -much as I love Jenkins for his toughness , he isn't a center. How many plays were blown up by bad snaps? Four? Five? It is becoming apparent that Father Time has caught up with Preston smith. I really think we need to look out there to see if there are any defensive players by the deadline who can improve the edge play. That being said, there were some bright spots, Jacobs shined again he's averaaging about 100 yards a game from scrimmage. Hope they rest up, cause it doesn't get easier down the stretch. GOPACKGO!

MLF needs to grow a pair in not playing Love when injured+ benching Walker.

I completely blame this loss on the coaching staff. In these elements with Love's injury, he shouldn't of been out there. (I'm not one of those that think Willis is better than Love) but just think with Willis at QB oyr offense would be more dynamic. Plus he should got all the reps with the 1's at practice last week.
Yes I get Love's the starter and there could be noise if Willis looks and plays like Lamar or better than Love's anyway. (Not saying he's anything like Lamar). The team comes first not Love's feelings. I just think with Willis in this big game vs Detroit in the rain gave us a better chance than an hobbled underachieving qb playing Love right now period. We all new it was going come down to who can run the ball better in these conditions. Hmmmm injured Love or Willis. #### I'm pissed

This was another disappointing performance by the Packers in a big game. I felt that the defense did their job by holding the Lions offense to 17 points. But the offense, even with over 400 yards, just beat themselves with dropped passes, penalties, a terrible pick 6 and questionable play calling. The offense needs to get better on 3rd downs. They were 3 for12. That's not good enough against a good team like the Lions. Their red zone performance has been poor all season.
It's good time for the bye week. Numerous players need to heal up and the coaching staff needs to seriously self scout this team on both sides of the ball. Yes, they are a young team but 9 games into the season they are still making the same mistakes they made in the first game of the season and that should have been dealt with back in TC. Most importantly I have not seen much growth from Jordan Love in his second season as a starting QB. Thanks, Since '61
