1st NFL shutout this year. Yes, Saints were badly banged up, but that was about as a complete game as you could get and the Packers did what they needed to do and should have been expected.
RB's ran tough. All 3 had TD's. Best running game this year I think.
Edge Coop is the real deal and very much needed at the LB position.
Nice having a competent backup QB and Kicker.
Maybe not run Watson on end sweeps. He can pick up some big chunks, but I don't think his body is built for that type of punishment. Not worth an injury.
Nice December game leadup to playoffs. Now lets get after the Viqueens.
As I said game thread. Packers - Hulk Smash!!

Packers shutting out the Saints says it all. They have dominated their last 2 opponents. I hope they’re not peaking too early and that they can keep this momentum going into the playoffs.
Bring on the Vikings we’re ready. Go Pack Go!
Thanks, Since ‘61

Well said 61it was a good practice game for us,. The Flower should have removed our starters earlier in my opinion. Next week it's a different song mate! In that dome ,with the horn blowing all match! We got to beat the queens and chicago for the 5th seed!. Hopefully Alexander can play to cover jefferson, we got to smack in the mouth!! Gpg

The main question I have is this - is there some reason MLF doesn't wear green and gold on a Monday night prime time national game? Does he secretly want to coach the Raiders? What's with the gray and black vest and hoodie?
I'm glad that Nagler agrees that Love needs improvement. Winning without a top (but good) QB might not be as exciting to watch but it gets the job done. Let's get the Lombardi then fix that. I wonder what Rodgers will say about that?
But seriously, the name of the next two games is stay healthy, get Watson and Alexander back and then go for it. This game didn't really mean much. IMO, even the shutout didn't mean much against these Saints - sorry, they looked that bad.
Ok - one more question. Who still believes rushing 3 makes any sense??? Drives me nuts too!
GPG!

MLF may think wearing the colors is a jinx, I don't wear anything Packers on game day for this reason. any other day yes but not game day.

Well, well, well. That was a game. We all wanted a game we could just smile through the whole thing. There it was. A shellacking. And they listened to what fans here called for all week: getting an early lead.
What impressed me was that packers played with a lot of discipline. They executed the plays that needed. The run plays were well blocked and getting chunks. The changeup pass plays were crisp, and taking some downfield shots were timely and executed well for most part. Kudos to O-line. The announcers called them out a number of times for controlling the line of scrimmage.

Aaron makes a good point about Jordan Love doing good things that don't show up on the stat sheet. Even though his accuracy was a bit off in this game, I thought he did a great job running the offense: good decision-making, crisp ball handling, and moving well in the pocket. He's often looking for the big play, but he's not trying to force it like he was earlier in the season.

With that big game coming up next week against the Vikes, the Packers took care of business against the Saints' JV squad last night. You can only play the team that shows up, but with the Packers running the ball last night's game reminded me of the Badgers playing a directional school...at least when the Badgers were pretty good.
Could it be any more clear after that opening Packers drive that the Saints just wanted to get back to the hotel?
Josh Jacobs is a beast. He runs so hard and gets yards after contact that AJ Dillon and AJones never get. With opponents jamming the inside gaps like they do against the run game, I liked how the Packers pitched Jacobs out and helped get him to the edges, which they haven't done very much this season. It will give the Vikings something more to think about.
The defense played well--they rattled the Saints' QB all night even if it only turned into 3 sacks, forced 2 TOs, and held the Saints to under 200 total yards.
How about that dart from Willis late in the game, hitting Reed in stride down the right sideline? Wow.
Some concern over Watson's injury, but he returned and played some after the end around on which he got hurt. Here's hoping it's not signficant.
1-0 this week. Get a couple key pieces back next week, here's hoping for 1-0 next week!

Great stuff, Aaron. They really did dominate - doing what they should against a lesser, decimated and leaderless Saints team. Good.
Next.
Keep checking them off, Packers, till you walk off the plane carrying the Lombardi Trophy.

I have to take my hat off for Brandon McManus...Talk about a life saver at kicker fir the Packers. I thought LaFleur was crazy trying a 55 yard FG in those temperatures but McManus had more than enough.
McManus is 33, he'd be 34 right about the time TC would start next season. THIS is a guy I really hope Gutey signs to an extension at the end of the year. Anders Carlson is kicking for the Jets and it's the same ole same ole for Carlson. He's still missing FGs and missing XP attempts, this past Sunday one of each.
I know signing 34 year old players regardless of position isn't something the Packers like to do. But IMO, McManus has earned an extension. Don't let him leave Gutey!

Nick, I'm with you on mc ,yes he's 34 ,but 34 for a kicker is not old! He has a good leg. He only missed a fg in the Gail at lambeau against Detroit from afar. He's just what we needed. I'm sure gute will extend him

Forgive for this but I felt Love’s game was average and perhaps should have been picked off; am I being nit picky?
I’m very excited to see what the pass rush will do bs the Vikings.
I compare Jacobs to Paul Hornung. He’s not super fast but can make people miss. Most importantly, he has a nose for the endzone. A more recent comparison is Maurice Jones-Drew.
Pound the Vikings…
Go Packers!!!
