Luckily, a win is still a win, because that wasn't much of a showing for the Packers. Yes, Parsons came through with an important sack, but this team has got too many issues that stand out. The Cardinals with Brissett at the helm, please.

Most of the upsets in the NFL this season have been defeated on the road.
Packers avoided that curse.

I was foreshadowing. 4-1-1 will be the top team in the NFC if the lions beat the Bucs which I expect (but hope not).

Same FN reaction, everyone wants to pass on the packers. This D cant get off the filed. By game 9 it will be shot. Why, Nixon, Williams, Hobbs, and is Mckinny still on the team I never hear his name or see him make a tackle. I thingk he plays deep hoping for an errant ball to intercept andlook like a real pro.
No this pass D will keep the team from the play offs. Penalties and special teams will also contribute but its the pass D that costs this team.
When two back up QB's who havent played look all world agaisnt a so calloed good team, there are real problems that Hafwit cant fix.

Once again, people need reminding that every week in the NFL is a new week. A win on the road in the NFL is difficult, and this was the sort of win that can galvanize a team. The offense made plays when they had to make plays. The defense made plays when they had to make plays. They played terribly, made a ton of mistakes - and won on the road. Enjoy it! I swear the internet makes me think no one actually enjoys a win because it was hard-earned instead of easy. LOL

Of course they can play better. But in the big moments, they delivered. The field goal at the end of the half. Two touchdowns in the 4th quarter. Two 4th down stops by the D in the 4th quarter. 27 points scored and never had the feeling they were doing well. A ton of penalties, and the D kept giving up 3rd and long. And they won on the road! Enjoy it and move on.

Yes, it was a win. All the top teams have had faceplants. We're just wondering why Packers are still not able to carve up the opponent with darts like Brisset, Flacco, why the opponents are pushing the online in on run plays, why the Oline can't open up the 6-10 yard runs like most of the opponents thus far from week 3, why GB isn't getting the plus turnovers, why the D keeps allowing completions deep, and not really altering the opponent QB flow, why the vaunted presence of Parsons isn't letting all the other guys rack up sacks, and why so many ballcarriers seem to be corralled for a loss, seem to escape green jerseys and convert a tough 3rd down, and why Green jerseys aren't the top of 3rd down conversions, and the hell so many penalties? Otherwise, kudos for the win... and we have low expectations for next week.

Hobbs cannot play the perimeter. Make a move for a CB. Too much reading by the safeties.
LambeauPlain
October 19, 2025 at 09:08 pm
Yeah, Hobbs looks to be a miss to fill the CB hole. Banks is beginning to show his value.
Hobbs is deficient on the perimeter, better at slot...yet Bullard is better there. Hobbs is a solid tackle guy but not very instinctive or quick. Geez...just don't play him because he got a huge contract.
SicSemperTyrannis
October 20, 2025 at 03:57 am
Bullard is great as long as he's not in coverage. Between him and Hobbs could they be rotated to have one solid slot corner? (And would the result be as good as #25?)

No question Hobbs was bad, but where was McKinney? I thought teams were afraid of throwing deep on the Packers because our free safety could cover sideline to sideline. I didn't see McKinney anywhere in the picture frame on a half dozen deep completions. The secondary issues go deeper than Hobbs.
BTW, Valentine only played three snaps all game and one of them was on special teams. No sure what he did to piss off Hafley, but he is clearly in the doghouse. With Hobbs poor play, Hafley is going to have to revisit this issue.

Because MLF is not even a HC, much less a good one. He's an OC, that doesn't have to deal with things like that, nor coach's challenges, nor time management. Whether that reduction in duties would be enough to improve his in game adjustments remains to be seen. He's even better at drawing up plays.

Welp. There are plenty of things to moan about here: the defense is struggling to cover. Too many third and longs allowed. The offense still isn't in sync. Too many penalties.
It wasn't pretty, but still, you've gotta learn how to win games like these....and they did.

"Too many penalties." From your lips to Lafleur's ears Dobber. I think there were 10 penalties for 94 yards against the Packers last I saw. Yikes!
Way too many deep completions too. Our free safety used to either intercept or breakup those passes last year. Didn't even see him in the picture frame this game.......

That turnover, with Gary stripping the QB, felt like a cold drink of water after crossing the desert. And it swung the game. Unfortunately, it then swung back toward the Cardinals.
It was a heck of a comeback. Lots of gambles by LaFleur that paid off. It was also the fourth game in a row that the offense has had a late scoring drive.
Not sure what's up with the defense. I've been defending the CBs all year, but they really looked lost today, and so did Evan Williams. If the pass rush didn't get home, the defense was pretty much screwed. It didn't help matters that the opposing QB played lights-out for the third week in a row, but the CBs have got to be better.
I'm very happy about the win, though.

Well, ive said it before and I'll say it again, a win is a win.....but this team is a very soft 4-1-1, 250 yards from scrimmage against a porous Az defense, that ranks 24th in the league and gives up a hundred yards more than that The Sack Pack was back( pardons to doc Seuss), but when they dont get home, the secondary is being exposed. Good stuff-Golden, Doubs, Parsons, and our new best kicker! The not so hot, letting that offensive juggernaut Brissett gash us for 300 yards in the air. The penalties.....Jaysus. But next week is our date with AR , so, I say GO PACK Go and on to Pittsburgh.....oh, and why was Hobbs out there when Valentine was riding the pine{again, my apologies to doctor Seuss )?

While there's no shortage of things about which to kvetch
Our O line has at least stabilized a little with #50 playing two complete games, and Banks at least back. At least some good plays. Jordan Morgan playing all the snaps at RG with Sean Ryan 0? We want JM as our LT next year; this seems odd. Film study is needed to see how he did, also Jenkins at C.
Usage of #0 is ... inexplicable. Two weeks running.

It was an ugly win but a win on the road nonetheless. It was important to achieve this win on the road. It wasn’t a dominant win but it didn’t need to be. Just get the win and move on.
OL remains an issue for the Packers. The DBs are also a major question mark. Too many penalties once again.
The Packers need to get their act together in their secondary because Aaron Rodgers is still good enough to pick them apart.

Jordan Morgan played every snap at RG, Sean Rhyan 0. This is a first, and an odd development if they want JM as their LT next year. I have not thought Rhyan has played poorly, nor Walker that well. I have not watched any football since the whole kneeling during the national anthem BS started. Unfortunately this year I was in a very serious accident in which I've broken a wrist, 6 ribs and destroyed a knee. Being off work and bored I've started watching NFL again this year.
The 15 yard penalty on Parsons, dropping his hip to make the tackle on Brissett is that a new rule change? Thats one that I've never heard of before

Yes that's "the hip drop rule," designed to counter a technique NFL players picked up from rugby that they've determined is a serious risk of injury with the much heavier NFL players doing it. My understanding of the rule is it includes the tackler being off the ground and swinging forward, which #1 didn't seem to do at all when I watched it live but the replay showed he MAYBE did, a little. Officiating was highly questionable this game; our head coach complained about all the no-calls for holding against our #1, and they seemed to punish us for it. Also, AZ seemed not to hold him as flagrantly as every other game so far.
With you on the kneeling thing; they've cut the nonsense from broadcast coverage, not sure how much still goes on in stadiums?

We seem uninspired—in slow motion with zero energy. The play calls make you scratch your head. Penalties and the ever worrisome special teams—but hail to Haversik. Our DB’s—geez!
But in the end—we won! My hats off to Jacobs, Kraft, and Parsons.

Andy Herman, in his post-game program gave an insightful analysis of MLF-he said Matt often focuses on opponent's 'deficiencies' instead of paying more attention to his team's strengths and identity. He made another good point that a 'deficiency'may be situational and not a permanent flaw.

Kraft made a big Impact, but it took till late on before he was really given a chance. Miraculously he can be soared to run routes and again it brings results. LaFleur seems often to get in his own way and thus the team’s performance is less than it could be. We seem to fight the obvious way too often.

Putting the ball in the hands of our best playmakers should not be so difficult to learn. #0 was key early, than never targeted again. AGAIN. #85 did miss one catchable ball, but otherwise continues to be GREAT, and greatly underutilized. We should ride him like a borrowed mule. At least #8 was played probably as much as he should be asked to handle while healing up. Seems like MLF was expecting more from our other RBs, who simply did not deliver today.

Nate Hobbs is criminally robbing the Packers for the salary he commands versus the actual benefit he provides. I keep hoping there's maybe some injury excuse and that he will get better from it and start to play up to expectations. So far that hasn't been observed. He is in the running for the Jimmy Graham award for the most overpaid and regrettable free agent signing at this point (because I don't mention the name of that other POS who was in Green Bay for a thankfully short time).
Is the cornerback room that bad that he gets the snaps?
Is Valentine better, or not better than Hobbs?
Is Hobbs going to get the snaps because he's getting the big paycheck and that's the reason?
This team looked so very good in the first couple games and now it seems like everyone has figured out that the secondary isn't all that good. Just get the ball out quick and you'll negate what Parsons and company can bring to bear in the pass rush.
SicSemperTyrannis
October 20, 2025 at 04:33 am
Hobbs has only played slot in previous years, and is being asked to play on the perimeter here. Moving him back to the inside and rotating him with Bullard who's great against the run but outright bad in coverage seems like the obvious change to at least try ...

Another example of apparently poor prep and play calling.
MLF is not the worst coach but is he a coach that can take us to the SB? That's all that counts. We are not a rebuild team and making the playoffs is good enough. How many games do we come back to the same issues?
JL's shoulders are not big enough to carry this team. There's a lot of offensive talent but it doesn't look like we have the right general.
And defensively - how can you leave McBride that open? Also, not the first time where a star player is left open.
Can someone tell me what is the play design that has Goldin running a circle around the qb?

I'll add to that if JL10 were throwing to fewer different targets he'd connect with them better and have a higher completion rate. The change of pace between #0 85 and 8 is a LOT to process! Add in all the other possibilities and JL10 doesn't seem able to do it as reliably. #9 and 11 won't be as much of an adjustment from #0, hope MLF goes to that when available. Speed kills!

Nags, most of your takes here are reasonable but you cannot consider Banks and Hobbs as a net negative. Without them we'd be worse. I don't know if Hobbs is still affected by injury but he should be in the slot regardless, with CV on the perimeter at least a lot. Bullard is great against the run and bad in coverage, can he rotate with Hobbs and between the two of them they fill one position well? It's obviously worth trying. Maybe Hobbs recovers and gets closer to his best, then proves he can play the perimeter?
Banks is also recovering from injuries, not sure how much they still affect him but he's played every snap two weeks in a row now? #50 has, and he seems to be improving. I need film study to verify all this, along with our new C, is he still improving?
