How do guys like Nagler and others get people to watch them just ramble. I mean I watched six minutes of this and got so desperate for real journalism and sports news and analysis that I had to close it. I mean, this is like sitting at a bar drinking with a guy you have seen around. Then you realize he loves to talk and talk and talk. That is complaint about video as opposed to writing. With writing you have to be precise, and can pack meaning into fewer words. Video is like a crutch for when you have very little...but can talk about lampshades. AAAAAHHHHGGG!!!

Sometimes articles are better than videos/speaking.
But not when I have a 25 minute drive home from work.
Can't read. Can listen (and watch at all the stop lights).

I agree.... the timing is usually good I watch (listen) to these things on my way home from work, to the fitness club.

I should be on with Nags but he does a fine job IMO.

How can you not discuss the one-sided nature of the B/R article after AR is out calling it a “smear job”? He called out that alleged reporter and it screams for some commentary.

I am sure I am like a lot of people who see these attempts at “reporting” without fleshing out the other side of the story, as searching for a hot take to increase their clicks, over having any ethics or professional integrity. That was a pure hatchet job, despite him sprinkling in a few innocuous lines from AR sympathisers.

Honestly, I think that the state of journalism in sports and the general media are at a low point in my lifetime, and I’m interested to here your take on this, particularly as it pertains to this alleged “story”. Was it even-handed? Accurate? Any thoughts on the fact that at least 8 teammates or ex-teammates called bs on it?

I thank you in advance for hashing this out. I am very curious to hear your take on this in more depth.

I think it is possible that the people and events journalists are covering are at an all time low, along with reader's ability/desire to carefully read and digest the information given to them. We tend to decide what we want to believe, and then look for news sources that support our existing beliefs.
That's not the fault of journalism.

There were quotes that were called “a flat out lie”. The rest of sports media jumped all over and pontificated about something that has been widely refuted.

I am talking about professional responsibility. This is not about my interpretation - it is about a lot of press people using what is at least very suspect information without themselves verifying it....and that ought to be discussed here.....since that B/R story was used here and now that report is in dispute.
