Saints DE Will Smith Arrested For Domestic Battery

New Orleans Saints defensive end Will Smith was arrested and charged with domestic battery, Cindy Chang of The Times-Picayune reports.

Smith, 29, was arrested by Lafayette Police after he allegedly grabbed his wife by the hair, causing minor injuries, during an argument near a Lafayette, Louisiana nightclub.

A first-round pick (18th overall) in 2004 out of Ohio State, Smith (6-3, 282) has started 85 of his 104 games with the Saints, totaling 351 tackles and 53 quarterback sacks. Smith went to the Pro Bowl in 2006 after posting 10.5 quarterback sacks during his first season as a full-time starter.

Smith had a career-high 13 quarterback sacks during the Saints' Super Bowl-winning season in 2009, but has just 3.5 quarterback sacks during 10 games this season. Smith had three tackles, including a quarterback sack, and an interception during the Saints' 30-27 win over the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving.

Smith was released on $1,000 bond.
