Ravens Close to Deal With Shayne Graham

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Baltimore Ravens are close to an agreement with free agent kicker Shayne Graham.

In seven seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, Graham connected on 177-of-204 field goal attempts, and 248-of-251 extra point attempts. The 32-year old, who played last season under the one-year franchise tag, was 23-of-28 (82.1%) on field goal attempts, and hit 28-of-29 extra points, but missed on a pair of field goal attempts from under 40 yards during the Bengals' 24-14 loss to the New York Jets during the 2009 NFL Playoffs.

The Bengals opted not to re-sign Graham, instead signing veteran kicker Dave Rayner in February. If signed, Graham will compete with veteran Billy Cundiff for the Ravens' kicking job.

Graham entered the NFL with the New Orleans Saints, who signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Virginia Tech in 2000. Graham was 1-for-1 on extra points in the 2000 pre-season, but spent that year out of football. Signed by the Seattle Seahawks in 2001, Graham was 0-for-1 on field goal attempts, and 6-for-6 on extra points, but the kicking job went to Rian Lindell. Graham was signed by the Buffalo Bills late in the 2001 season, and was 6-for-8 (75%) on his field goal attempts.

Waived by the Bills the following off-season, Graham was picked back up by the Seahawks, who would once again waive him at the end of the pre-season in favor of Lindell. Signed by the Carolina Panthers after a hernia landed John Kasay on injured reserve early in the 2002 season, Graham went 13-of-18 on field goal attempts for the Panthers that season, but was waived at the end of the 2003 training camp and claimed by the Bengals, where he'd handle the kicking duties up until January.
