Patriots Sign LS Matt Katula

The New England Patriots have signed free agent long-snapper Matt Katula, XAM Sports'' Scott Smith, Katula's agent, announced on Twitter.

According to Smith, Katula signed a two-year contract.

A 6-6, 272-pound snapper from Wisconsin, Katula handled the snapping duties for the Baltimore Ravens from 2005-09. Signed to a five-year extension in 2008, the Ravens released Katula in August after deciding to go with rookie Morgan Cox.

Second-year long-snapper Jake Ingram has been inconsistent this season, and is likely on the way out.
