Former Lions WR Rogers Must Repay $6.1M

The Detroit Lions won their lawsuit against former wide receiver Charles Rogers, with U.S. District Judge Julian Abele Cook ruling Rogers must repay $6.1 million dollars of a $9.1 million dollar signing bonus.

Rogers was suspended in 2005 for violating the league's substance abuse policy for a third time, and the Lions argued that by being suspended, Rogers defaulted on his contract. An arbitrator ruled in the Lions' favor in 2008, but Rogers has yet to repay the money.

The second overall pick of the 2003 NFL Draft, injuries limited Rogers to just 36 receptions for 440 yards and four touchdowns during his three-year NFL career. Rogers has been out of football since 2006.
