Broncos to be Short-Handed in Week 6

Denver Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels announced that his team will be without three defensive starters when they take on the New York Jets in Week 6, reports Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post.

Starting cornerback Andre Goodman (thigh) attempted to play yesterday against the Baltimore Ravens, but lasted just four plays and won't play against the Jets. Safety Brian Dawkins and starting outside linebacker Robert Ayers will also be unavailable on Sunday, McDaniels said.

Ayers is tied for the Broncos' lead with 1.5 quarterback sacks.

Reserve linebacker Wesley Woodyard, the Broncos' leader in special teams tackles, aggravated a hamstring injury that kept him out of the team's Week 4 win over the Tennessee Titans. Back-up safety and core special teamer Darcel McBath injured his ankle covering Ravens nose tackle Haloti Ngata, who was an eligible receiver in a goal-line situation.

Perrish Cox and David Bruton will presumably start at cornerback and free safety with Goodman and Dawkins out.
