Bengals K Mike Nugent to Miss Remainder of Season

Cincinnati Bengals kicker Mike Nugent will miss the rest of the season with a right knee injury, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Nugent injured his knee during an onsides kick in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 23-17 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. An MRI on Sunday night confirmed that Nugent's injury is severe enough to end his season.

Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis is expected to provide an update later on Monday.

A former second-round pick of the New York Jets who split last season with the Arizona Cardinals and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Nugent signed to a two-year deal this off-season. The 28-year old native of Centerville, Ohio and Ohio State alum beat out Dave Rayner for the kicking job this summer, and has converted 15-of-19 field goal attempts and all 17 of his PAT attempts, pumping seven of his 44 kickoffs for touchbacks.

Rayner is not an option for the Bengals, as he signed with the Detroit Lions last week when Jason Hanson injured his kicking leg. Former Bengals kicker Shayne Graham is also unavailable, signing last week with the New England Patriots.
