Replace TE with DL...

Agreed. It's one thing to say they need a playmaker at WR OR at TE. I wouldn't list both as priority needs. Get a playmaker at ONE of those two positions, and the dynamics of this offense changes dramatically. Putting resources into both positions hampers their ability to improve other needy position groups.

A stud DL--especially a guy who can play 3 downs--will make the whole defense that much better.

I have a positive vibe with Sternberger. He didn't take any dis-resect from Clowney and he started to get a feel for the Pro Game. Lewis should be back and snag a guy in the mid-rounds that has played the position throughout his college career. The guy from Purdue could be there in the third. Free agency on the DT/DEs. Wr in round one.

Yes, but move WR to #1, and ILB to #2, then DL.

Not that TE isn't a need. I'm not sold on Sternberger just yet, but at least he looks like he could be capable, and he already is a far, far better blocker than I imagined he would be.

QUESTION: If the Packers had drafted Deebo Samuels instead of Rashan Gary, could the Packers have made the Superbowl or even won it? Not likely, but it's an interesting thought. Deebo went to the 9ers, of course, and was a stud.

DL is definitely a need over a TE you could even put OL before TE.

I would say DL, ILB and OL as my top three. WR, TE, RB and CB would be next.

#1 WR, You won't come back in any shoot out, without better Wrs. The draft is the only way. #2 ILB- Yes This can be fixed in the Draft. Dye , Weaver, Quarterman,. In just that order. Doubt Pettine would trust his defense to Rookies. Hope we Sign better! #3 TE - Cook, Bennett and Graham couldn't help us. Spend the money on the DL. The DL is the top priority in Free Agency. Lots of value there this year. There are so many Wrs in this draft that could easily replace ours. I hope they take 4. The problem isn't filling a position. It's finding the game changers.

Quarterman is a beast but he may go undrafted or back end. He's an old school guy and the Packers play a pass first / speed defense. I always want to think he's the next Ray Lewis. BA out of Miami - ILB should be interesting.... Rookies that can just step in and be good is a reach in this draft. Don't reach for need in the Draft -
Great point on not trading for a WR or any other flavor/position of the day. Nice have all the draft picks. Speaking of trading away draft picks. Interesting topic - Are the Packers lucky the didn't land Mack?

Quarterman is fast and reads quickly. The reason he's at the back-end is because of cover skills. But he would be pulled in Pettines defense. The match-ups with Dye and Quarterman are fast and quick . For muscle Weaver is a HEE-MAN. He's got the power. .

Sign Michael Pierce draft another big body , when you have big guys up front then you don’t need to depend on your inside linebackers stopping the run, I think Gute knows he has to fix the run defense. And I think he will .

I think they need multiple DL. They need a starter to improve at least one of the DE (Lancaster) spots and a rotational DE/DT, likely to replace Adams. How hard you go after 2 significant players depends on how much you believe in Keke.

Free agent D line with this pool of Big guys. Good value in the draft in round four to six for DT/DEs.

Marcell Dareus ($20M cap savings) and Calais Campbell ($15M cap savings) are both likely to be released by JAX. Campbell was still a stud, so my guess is JAX restructures him. Dareus is an interior guy rather than the DE you covet, and he played just six games after having a core body injury. That's concerning but I assume Dareus would have to work out for teams.

Dareus has a huge option that has to be exercised by JAX between Feb 2 and Feb 25. So they have to decide before the combine, before the legal tampering period, and of course, before the draft. As a note, declining an option now means that the player does not count in the compensatory draft formula. A small point, perhaps, but under some scenarios, GB will be losing Martinez, Bulaga, Tramon, and Fackrell, plus perhaps Veldheer, depending on his price, and his willingness to take a short deal. If they lose all of them, I suppose GB will buy a three or four FAs.

First priority is button up the defense. Need DE-1st, Need ILB-2nd, OTs-3rd.
If BB is resigned, becomes a minor issue because OTs will be drafted. DLs are needed more than ILBs because if blockers get to your ILBs...they will be taken out our rendered useless for 5-7 yards unless they are 250 Lb range.
There will be a lot of WRs that can help the Packers so it's a given a few will be drafted.

You make some great points but man the WR needs to be addressed. If not rd 1 rd 2. The draft is deep but there is going to be some big drop offs between 2 round and 4th round.

Trade the 30th pick back into the high second round (40th?} look for their 2nd and switch 3rd. (40th,60th and 70th picks as an example.).. Unless the boards falls your way at 30...(WR/OT/ILB.DI) Draft in order of best available on your board.
FA IDL as pointed out holds solutions, Maybe even a stop gap ILB - Run first TE (Mercedes L?) I'd like to see younger and faster but hey, you can not fill all the holes every year. Cap and availability are always stacked against you. So happy Gute is in the House...
Need a RB to replace Jones - -as Hawk Harrelson would say - "He Gone"..
Will the Pack be better 2020 with EQS/Greene/Jace/Gary all taking on bigger roles? If just one of the group of Burks, Mont Adams and Tonyan play at an average NFL level that helps. That's 7 players on the current roster, that will be the coaches to get the most out of them. The first three are all better than what is there now. Should have some factor on draft and FA decisions.

Regardless, even with the required DE/DT upgrade, the ILBs have to be able to run and Hit. Right now, it looks like Goodson and Summers on the depth chart. I don't see the light turning on for Burks. Cannot be compared to Brian Williams who was injured before his career took off.

Oh my god. It’s another packer offseason and once again, everyone claims defense is the biggest need. What’s it been? 10 years of drafting pretty much straight defense and only signing defensive free agents. Can it stop for one year? Maybe just some balance? Our offense has been pretty awful for a few years. Let’s start there this time. Wideout, slot, o-line please. Throw in the best player available at either ilb or dl. It could be Ilb dl first even, then the others. I’m tired of the offense sucking.

Defense was better than the offense this year. It was good enough, if we didn’t suck at offense

The defense was better in 2019 than it has been since 2010 but it still wasn't good enough to carry the Packers. Offense had it's moments as well. The offense carried us in a few games when the defense slacked. By not reinvesting in defense do you really think it'll stay the same as 2019?

Agree with a lot of posts but think our first priority is to sign Crosby.
DL and OL, ILB, WR, and CB in that order. If we resign Lewis and Tonyan cut Graham and with Sternberger I think TE will be fine.

Aaron Rodgers has a no trade clause through 2022. We have three years to win three SB's . We need to dip into free agency again and then hit big in the draft.
Our three free agent pickup, all ascending players: TE/WR/ILB
No question about it . It is urgent to put the pieces in place
Also, we have missed on draft pieces in the latter rounds, extend a hearty handshake and no hard feelings and have Alonzo Highsmirh(spell?) and Elliott Wolfe return to GB

I can't find a source for the proposition that Aaron Rodgers has a no-trade clause in his contract.

I seriously doubt there is a no trade clause. He doesn't need one since the dead money on his contract effectively achieves the same thing for at least the next two years.

Some type of Out Clause for Rodgers in 2022?

There is none.

I think what people cite is what sportrac calls the 'potential out' year when the dead money reaches a certain level. Since NFL contracts aren't guaranteed (unless specified), every year is a potential out year, and with the salary cap, player exercisable options are unworkable.

ILB, DL, WR & TE. You should be able to get value signings in free agency for a run stuffing d-lineman and and ILB. Hopefully Get Queen or Murray for a speed / coverage backer in round 1 and then draft wideouts in round 2 and 4th or 5th to go with an OT in round 3, potentially Ben Bartch who showed well at the Sr, bowl despite being from a small school as a developmental tackle. Bulaga should be resigned if the team can structure the deal to be able to get out of it without significant damage to their cap in year 2 or 3 if he incurs another significant injury as is his history.
