The good : the run game
The bad: defense giving up 400 yards a game
The ugly: Aaron Rodgers continuing to hike the ball at 1 second or delay of game or having to use time outs. At home games this is unacceptable. This must change please.

I agree with the Ugly! Our defense is still giving up way too much yardage. We still need the whole team to play consistent for the WHOLE game

The good Packers run defensive resilience.

The bad inconsistent defensive back play.
King must get more aggressive. 10-15 yard gaps
much too soft in today's NFL.

I'm wondering how much the snow had to do with King was playing off receivers?

I laughed out loud (loled in real life) when they tried to get the panthers to jump offside after getting to the line with about 6 seconds left on the playclock.

Ironically, thus far this year Aaron Rodgers has been more successful at eliciting offside from his own team than defenders!

Good: Field goal re-dos. Without the lining up over the center call, it’s a 5 point game at the end and I have no finger nails left.
Bad: Bak’s wiff on the poorly called play that will remain unmentioned.
Ugly: 2 offsides calls inside the 7 with the game on the line. One cancelled out the game winning 4&1 stop and made me sit through 2 more plays.

This is the good, bad and ugly so you have two slots for something negative and one slot for something positive and you chose to use that one slot for something positive to point out a negative. This in a win against a playoff team where Jones and Adams both had great games in tough weather conditions.

The good. The packers went back to that shorter passing game and running game combo and man that works. The old McCarthy everyone go long never really worked. Good job packers.

The mediocre: Martinez who I never spent time watching, is one slow dude and has zero mobility. Where did they get this guy from and why is he still playing?

The bad, the end of the Dallas game play calling that gave the vikes the victory. I so want them two games back when we march into town

I agree with the good and the bad but I take the 3 points when we can't punch it in on 3 tries. The time out was the ugly for me. 3 big run plays had the defense reeling. Then a time out allows them to regroup. Why?!? And then the delay of game penalty which also was ugly. Seems to be a trend with this team. 12 wastes more time outs and constantly runs the play clock down to 0 more than any QB I can think of off hand. Still, a much needed win. Go Pack go! :)

totally agree about that time out was a gift to Carolina's defense. Should have been an up-tempo snap. What ever happened to up-tempo?

I wonder if the ghosts of that NFCCG in Seattle are still influencing things. Should have, would have, could have, but in the snow, take any points on offer.

To that point, I could have shaken Ron Rivera's hand when he decided to go for the 2 points. If the 2019 Packers are decent at one thing, it's redzone defense. I thought that it was a low odds call that Carolina would succeed there. I wonder if that effort too helped to galvanize the Packers on the final drive that they could pull off the stop?

Corey Linsley had a couple of lower concentration plays and got his pants pulled down. Same for all of the o-lineman for that matter - this is the most vulnerable that I've seen Bakh and Bulaga......... although 6 of the teams have defenses ranked higher than 10th in the league, so credit where credit is due.

I don't think this delay of game out of a timeout counts as an ugly because it was the result of a cat-and-mouse game. I mean, sure, Rodgers could have run a bad play but chose to take a timeout instead so we could get into a play the Defense didn't have figured out. My Good, Bad Ugly:

GOOD: Ibraheim Campbell played well outside of a crossing route.

BAD: Dropped INT's. It's good to be in the right place at the right time, but these guys have to start catching these easy INT's. Alexander had a few right in his hands again and dropped them. I think King had one as well IIRC. Do these guys want to be good or want to be great?

UGLY: JK Scott - Maybe ugly is a bit harsh, but he had 2 punts of less than 40 yards that ended up only around midfield. I hope he can learn to punt in the elements, because he has not been good since the cold hit.

The Good: The running game.
The (just) good enough: allowing an 18 play, 88 yd., final drive. No pts. though.
The mediocre: QB play.
The Bad: Special teams: punting, kickoffs, coverage.
The Ugly: Run defense.

Ugly was Blake Martinez , he just looks lost time for Ty Summers.

I don't know whether or not it's time for Ty Summers, we haven't seen enough of him to know, but I do know this: It might be time to give him some playing time to see what he can do. That couldn't hurt!
If Martinez were to get injured we'd have to insert a guy that has played very little and would need time to acclimate and learn his teammates tenancies.
The playoffs are coming (we hope), and having the 'Next Man Up' ready to play is a big deal at crunch time.

Good:
Jones/Williams - What a duo. Seriously! They compliment each other so well. They compliment the offense very well as well.

Smith Brothers - Imagine what our defense would be like without them. It felt like Za'Darius was in the backfield all game long.

Kenny Clark - I don't know if it was the way the Panthers were playing him or if it was him getting healthier but this was his bests game this season. Great game by him!

Bad:
Defense allowing explosive plays - I don't know what it is with this defense. They truly have the makings to be a shut down defense. But then you see a play where King falls off his guy into a zone and everyone else appears to be in man leaving a guy running wide open over the middle of the field for a huge gain. Hopefully they can clean that stuff up during the bye week.

Ugly:
Special Teams - JK Scott either needs to learn how to punt in the cold OR he needs to figure out Lambeau Field and how the winds are.

Alexander Not securing what would have been the game winning interception. I love Alexander. But DUDE. YOU HAVE TO CATCH THAT!!!! UGhhhhhh.

It seems like we could say Refs are Reffing but they really Reffed up the game yesterday. First off both OPI penalties against GB were soooo, so bad.
The sad part is especially the Lazard one is that it should have been challenged. And anyone other then the refs would have changed that. BUT since the refs have set a precedent that they won't change the call on the field the teams are screwed.

Notes:
8-2 going into the bye... Thats a good thing. Lets enjoy this Victory Monday a little longer this time.

The Good: amazing environment at Lambeau
Lazard, AJ/JW duo. We have 2 great backs. Elgton Jenkins can block. Kenny Clark Beast Mode.

The Bad: Penalties that destroy momentum. Not kicking a field goal at half.

The Ugly: pass defense was pretty sub standard. DJ Moore was running wide open on 3 or 4 plays. Like no one within 5 yards of him. This has to get cleaned up. Pettine played more zone today than usual. Does he not trust these corners in coverage?

Their zone coverage skills are atrocious. Pettine needs to dial it up and get down to details. Make his people accountable.

Bad: Buck and Aikman and gripping about the McCoy roughing the QB penalty. Rodgers had the ball out, and McCoy continued to drive Rodgers to the ground even if it wasn't fullest of his weight, he didn't pull up and kept driving him well after the throw. Very much a penalty, and TV announcers are hurting the quality of the broadcast constantly whining about ref calls. Is Aikman just biased against the pack?

The Good: Kenny Clark really upped his game, Aaron Jones continued to show his considerable running talent in a crucial game and , Preston Smith rushed Kyle Allen like a man possessed;
The Bad: Not real bad but expected a bit better punting from Scott, now in the middle of his second season, as more distance or directional kicking could have helped with field position in a tight battle;
The Ugly: Some of the pass defense left Carolina receivers too open but, in the end held their ground and helped earn the win.

Good, run blocking
bad, no intermediate game, 3 and 6 they throw bomb, did this 3-4 times that's on head coach and AR. Use the TE extend the series
Ugly, has to be the Linebacking, they are engaging runners 4-5 after line of scrimmage, Martinez is really becoming a below average LB, tons of tackles but after getting blocked early. How many times did Carolina punt? 2 times? not a playoff team defense yet

Let me add 1 to the UGLY

-Dallas Cowgirls!

The one time we want y'all to win, you can't block for Zeke Elliott & you waste a great game from Randall Cobb, who did his best to stick it to the Grape Apes again for us.

Boo Jason Garrett for running 2x in a row late, not having Dak keep one. The Purple D was all selling out to stop #21. Figure it our doophus.

Good - Lazar and Kumerow seem to have beat out MVS and Allison. Finally;
Bad - Pettine's defensive scheme - give up 400+ yards every game. Every. Game. Every damn game! Try something!
Ugly - ILBs. Martinez wanders around looking for something to do. Burks still trying to figure out his job. Middle of the field an easy completion for TEs and other living things.
Weird - Rodgers propensity to snap the ball with less than a second left. His stupid hard counts killing us more than the opposition.
Baffling - what happened to passes to the running backs?...

The Good: The run game for sure
The Bad: Special teams. They just don't look great, and JK-47 went from pro bowler to mediocre
The Ugly: Untimely penalties. There is never a good time for penalties, but they always seems to commit them at the worst times. No excuses for those.

I know the run defense is one thing that people are mentioning as bad / ugly, but to be fair, that was the third lowest total yardage CMC has had this year. Keeping a generational player like Christian to one score and <150 yards is kind of a win in my opinion... At least based on his performances so far this season.

The good for me was seeing Lafleur had the balls to go for the score just before the half ended. The ugly was seeing Bahktiari completely whiff on his block. If he just gets a piece of his man I think Jones has enough power to score on that play. Right call poor execution!

Good: MLF - going 1-0 this week. Just have to wonder about the continued problems with pre-snap penalitest and some of the play calling.
Bad: MLF - seems to agree with 'bend but not break' defense. Just have to wonder if this will change until they get bounced out of the playoffs in the first game.
Ugly: MLF - not doing something to fix special teams. Just have to wonder what it will take to finally get this turned around.

The good: We won and we have a bye to heal and rejuvenate.

The bad: Mental lapses, whether false starts, offsides or poor punts. Things to clean up.

The ugly: Slow (walking up to the line) to line up. Late calls coming in. This is attitude, driven by purposeful practice to get the play in fast , get up to the line fast and then let Rodgers plays his games.

Covering tight ends is a real issue
Darren Waller caught seven passes for 126 yards and two touchdowns against the Packers. A week later, Travis Kelce had four receptions for 63 yards and a touchdown. Hunter Henry made seven catches for 84 yards. This past week, Greg Olsen made eight catches for 98 yards. Back in Week 4, Zach Ertz led the Eagles in receiving with seven catches for 65 yards against the Packers.

I think we need to step back and look at this defense in context. Over the past half decade the packers defense has been bad. I mean like in the history of the NFL level all time bad. And now we are discussing whether they are good enough for a deep playoff run. They are not going to jump from that level of bad to great in a season. We said before the season they needed to be good enough to let the offense succeed. And I think they are there. They can be that middle of the road squad that can make a big play and keep it close enough for the offense to work.
