The Good: Clark is Gold! Trust the run
The Bad: The refs stole a Packer TD (EQ) on an invisible offensive pass interference
The Ugly: Too many injuries. Red zone defense.

Good: This really seemed like a “team win”. That it came against Da Bears is gravy.

Bad: Tackling or lack thereof, missed blocking assignments

Ugly: Two officiating gaffes on the same play.

Good - Did any one else post on the AR presser quote about being asked if maybe this game meant something more as it might be his last in Chicago (something like that) and he responded "I don't think this is going to be my last"

Bad - refs, of course. Other than that, the first qtr offense. But it was great to see adjusting.

Ugly - it was a great 'ugly' win with so many starters injured. (And it really wasn't that ugly!)

AR's quote simply means that he's not planning on retiring; when he goes to his new team next year, he'll probably be back in Chicago pretty soon, especially if it's an NFC team.

I have to make a comment about officiating in general that will likely be unpopular. The reality is that in the long run, it all evens out. If you take 1000 questionable ref calls over the last several years, roughly 50% of them are going to go against you and 50% will go your way.

Do I think EQ was robbed of a touchdown? Yes. That was a blown call. It was a phantom PI and he got both feet in. But it was also a bang-bang play and the refs are human. Do the Packers ever catch a break? Of course they do. That's life in the NFL.

I personally prefer not to complain about bad ref calls. All teams get them but the good ones overcome them. The fan bases of some teams like the Whiners and Viqueens truly specialize in that kind of hand wringing. I think we Packer fans should hold ourselves to a higher standard.

JMHO.

You’re missing the point. People here aren’t saying “if only the refs hadn’t made that call against the Packers “ . They’re saying the quality of the officiating is bad. We know the Bears weren’t winning this game. After all, they suck in various critical aspects of the game.

I like to see a well-played game and poor quality officiating disrupts the flow of the game.

I think we're all in favor of good reffing, but I also think it's convenient for fans sitting in front of a TV to dismiss the entire officiating in a given game as "bad." What is "bad"... they make 20 or 30 calls (and non-calls) correctly and miss one or two??

I've been following sports since the early 1960's (I'm 69 now); have participated in many sports for decades (football, basketball, and volleyball); and have even reffed soccer games when my daughter was young. I've come to accept that refs are human, and always have and always will make mistakes.

I agree we should use the technology available to us to make the game as clean and error-free as possible but even with these aids, we are still going to get some subjective interpretations by refs that are going to be wrong and piss some fans off.

Refs that you notice and talk about are bad.

I don't agree about video review. It's annoying. If they're not going to reverse the Fail Mary or if they're going to use it to make absurd calls like Brady's "tuck" in the 2001 playoffs, we are better off without it. As it stands, the NFL mostly uses video review to add some phony "drama" for tv viewers, and as an opportunity to smuggle yet more commercials into broadcasts.

Part of the problem is that the league thinks blather about the rules & reffing are good for the game. "Gee guys, they're talking about it at the water cooler on Mondays! Ain't it great?"

Yes, on the long avg, it should even out. But any given bad call could change the outcome of a single game. And that could have playoff implications. Or it could even be a playoff game or the SB. So the fact that the next season it will avg out, is irrelevant to any particular bad call.

Also, the NFL covers up bad calls. They should allow challenges to calls too and if the evidence is clear, it should be able to be overturned.

And I wouldn't mind if they published a review of bad calls so we all could see which refs are really good and which are not. And that would lead to better refs. Currently, we don't know how they handle bad calls other than there is some sort of process to train/educate refs.

I agree that any kind of review process, during the game to reverse injustices, or after the game to evaluate the refs, is a good thing. The goal is to have the game as fair as possible.

If it was phantom? Then why throw it? What did he see? At best that ref was 50 50 on his opinion. If your not sure .. then wouldn't logic tell you to let it go?

The good: Davante Adams, Kenny Clark, Aaron Rodgers and his wonderful "I STILL OWN YOU" directed at the fans, Aaron Jones, a gritty win against a division opponent even despite all of the injuries

The bad: Return teams (again, I think they had one return short of the 25 all day) Isaac Yiadom, offensive line including Lucas Patrick, we had so many stops for absolutely no gain today. Unacceptable

The ugly: Royce Newman as I've seen waaaay too many people that he lets run straight by him and he with Patrick have been crippling the offensive line, injuries across the board with being down our two top corners AND pass rushers as well as numerous other places.

Newman is our weak spot on the line. I was hoping they'd go with Yosh at LT, Elgton at LG and move Runyan to right guard.

I agree with Nagler's picks, but will add a couple.

GOOD: Rodgers, a balanced offense, and Kenny Clark
Bad: Not in the mood to complain, except for ...
UGLY: I hate to carp about officiating, but the lame OPI call on ESB was atrocious. It negated his first big play in a lonnng time.

I agree... YEAH Clark!
I too have been saying since day one to KICK THE BALL OUTTA THE END ZONE! (My hubby says Crosby kicks it where the coaches tell him, but I think not. ) Our Special Teams is just not good enough to stop a return.
And yeah Hill was stupid, but he wasn't the only one...Burks is bad, he had an opportunity to put pressure on the Bear's QB, but he went backward. And Garvin just wasn't aggressive at all.
I am still not a fan of Joe Barry! To me, it seems that our opponent's defenses play tough/dirty even, and take chances even if something would constitute a flag, which half the time do not get called, so why not take the chance.
By the way the refs are this year, they aren't calling very many of the actual infractions. Yet they call stupid things that could have game changing potential.

Happy we got the WIN!!! Now onto Week 7 and another game for me to be an ARM CHAIR COACH!

On the play where Burks went backward, I think he was the spy, so he was holding the edge. I do think he went too far back, though.

Nice team win on the road against a division rival. Green Bay still without several injured starters.

Good: Clark, Lowry, Rodgers, Dillon/Jones, Patrick (filling in at center)
Bad: Special teams coverage and tackling. Red zone defense.
Ugly: Officials. There are 7 in the black and white, and need to do a better job.

The good as usual, Rodgers, Jones, Dillon, Adams, Clark was VERY Good
The bad, as usual, special teams, they suck at defending the kick
The Ugly there are a few, Time management is awful for 3 years MLF has been just terrible at timeouts, and again anyone seen Rashan Gary ? no pressure at all, missing for weeks. Just proving what a reach for 1st round pick. also Savage giving Khalid Herbert a love tap 1st quarter pretty much showed us tackling is not high on their list, King would totally wiffed but Savage certainly didn't want to engage. Just a soft group on defense

Been a Packer fan 55 years most likely longer than you've ben alive so yeah watched the game and watched many many games. What is it you disagree with me on? It's nice to win but you must be realistic the win streak 5 hasn't been against the real studs. Baltimore, Arizona Cards, Vikes twice are all to upcoming.
So where an i wrong-Rashan Gary anyone seen Rashan Gary?
time management? always up against play clock force timeouts
Soft play, did you see Savage trying to tackle yesterday? sure intercepted
overthrown ball, most times he drops it
Seen this movie before doesn't end well, 5 times NFC championship game they lose because other teams beats them up. so I ask again what can you disagree with me on?
5-1 kind of pretenders not contenders.

Gary made four solo tackles, one more, actually, than Kenny Clark, although Clark's were arguably more impactful, seeing as how two of them were sacks. Gary's four tackles were tied for third (with Black), behind Campbell (6), Lowry and Douglas (!) (5). Not much of a talent evaluator after all those years, are you?

As for time management, they literally ran out the clock in the 4th. You have a problem with that? Did GB NOT score because they used too much time? No. Did Chicago score because we left too much time on the clock? No.

You sound like a Vikings fan at this point.

Good: A win against an NFC North foe; Aaron Rodgers; Aaron Jones' heart; Mason was perfect; Big Dog and Lazard making plays.

Bad: Injuries piling up; Red Zone defense needs work; STs needs work, too. ESB robbed of a TD; Amos robbed of an INT.

Ugly: Officiating overall stunk.

The Good.... The Packers are 5-1 despite missing the best LT in football. Missing 3/4 of their starting secondary from week one (Yes I know King sucks) including one of the best lock down CB's in the NFL. Missing their best OLB in Z Smith. Missing Preston Smith for the entire game except the first series, maybe the 2nd too. Missing their starting Center...Again. Missing their best deep threat in MVS. And various other injuries too. Oh, and learning a brand new defensive scheme and with all the injuries are still statistically BETTER than Pettines defense a year ago.

Lighting & Thunder... Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon are starting to show the Packers have the best 1-2 punch in the NFL and it's only going to and to get better. Getting DB back, hopefully Meyers, and the weather will start to turn, this running game will be a nightmare for opposing defenses.

Mason Crosby... Every kick right down the middle. He just started a new streak today at 1 FG in a row...

The Bad... I'm tired of talking about the officials every week but this is getting ridiculous. Just a horrible call on the PI against ESB... HORRIBLE!

Royce Newman... Hey I know he's a rookie 4th round pick but I'm starting to think JRJ should take his place on the O-Line once Bakhtiari and Meyers are back. The last few weeks there's been several plays where he just looks lost or gets his ass whipped...Bad! MLF always says the best 5 will play. JRJ is playing better IMO but we''ll see.

Ugly... With all the injuries on this team and each weekend they continue to mount the ONLY thing ugly is that. The injuries!

The Bad: Jaylon Smith trying to tackle, Meyers injury, terrible OPI call on EQ

The Ugly: Issac Yiadom in coverage.....wow. Douglas promptly replaced him and was solid. Please lord baby Jesus in your golden fleece diaper let Jaire's shoulder be okay....

The Good:

K. Clark: Sealed the win.
The Bojorquez punt--Whoa!
AR/MLF: Excellent ball distribution.
Offensive line and Big Dog: Sprung some nice gains for our backs.

The Bad: Right on with anyone having to do with the officiating on the ESB play--literally the lamest of calls. The was no OPI and the receiver stayed in bounds. A conspiracy at work here? Would have also liked to seen a better angle on the Amos interception from the camera crews.

The Ugly: Some spotty tackling (but we're all used to it by now) and some confusion in the end zone on the Bears' last touchdown. But the defensive game plan worked, and that's all that matters.
Also, Bears fans getting excited in the first quarter; they should have known it wasn't going to last; some people never learn....

Bad: Defensive kick return team for the Packers needs a lot of help.

good. campbell, clark, and garvin. props to garvin for showin up when preston smith got low key injured. hope hes good. i say low key injured because nobody even mentioned it. also aaron jones, rodgers spreading teh ball out. did i mention campbell? i love that fuckin guy. bad. refs, i get it when its a "bang bang" call. but that "OPI" on EQ was not bang bang anything. that ref couldnt have seen a penalty, cus there wasnt one. so why are you throwing a flag when you are not sure? and why are the refs not getting to gether and discussing shit like that? thats a huge play. its one thing if its 1st down on the 40. but 3rd down in the end zone? and you call that? its one thing when its just a quick bang bang type thing. but this was not that. he just threw a flag, on 3rd down, in the end zone. you would think that they would be taught to understand the situation... like "hey guys, if your gonna throw a flag on 3rd down in the endzone on a td, make sure its really a flag. if your not sure, we will talk about it and pick it up. or if your not sure, just dont fucking throw it at all!" tie should go to letting them play. tie should not turn into a yellow bean bag. oh yeah the ugly. i think i covered the ugly already.

Good: We have a punter with a strong leg and he sure belted one out of the park today when he had to kick from our own 20.

Bad: I hated seeing Savage get injured. He is an aggressive tackler and willing to stick his head in there.

Ugly: Having the Bears score any points. If there is a team I'd love to shut out, it the Bears.

Even though I had to go to a sports bar to watch the game since I'm in California, I loved watching the Packers beat our oldest and most bitter rival. There were comments made crediting Kenny Clark with his outstanding performance. He may have played the best game I have watched him play...simply All Pro.

Really Ferrari-Driver, you live in CA?
So do I, Nor-Cal, Santa Cruz, my sister lives in SoCal, Riverside County. Both of us were able to watch the Packers broadcast on our local Fox network(s).
Maybe, without the Ferrari, you'd be able to afford to have a TV at home and, better yet, NFL Sunday Ticket.
I've got both on my yacht.

Good afternoon Houndog,

Here is a link detailing the broadcast coverage of the Bears/Packers game and I live near Santa Barbara where we were given the Rams game: https://packerswire.usatoday.com/2021/10/14/heres-the-tv-coverage-map-fo...

I have Comcast for the internet and TV because I use 500 mbps on the computers and Direct TV does not have the fiber optic cable available in the location of my residence. Thus, no NFL Sunday Ticket available for me.

I certainly do not own yacht, but I did get a look at the one Bill Gates has harbored near Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and it was indeed impressive. I swim like a brick and have made it a point to stay out of the water most of my life.

Your "Houndog" looks like a sweetie and I am very partial to man's best friend and have one old rescued and previously abused one of my own.

The Good: A Packers win and seeing some of the 3rd and 4th stringers stepping up due to injuries. I thought Douglas and Garvin played reasonably well.
The Bad: Red Zone defense, the Refs, Special Teams coverage, more injuries, Da Bears.
The Ugly: Watching T. J. Watt change the outcome of a game last night, and remembering GB trading back to get Kevin King with Watt right at their fingertips. Damn!

Good: Run game is an increasing strength that wears down defenses and opens up chunk plays in the passing game.

Bad: Red Zone defense. Awful. 15 for 15 giving up TDs through the first 6 games...Packers are the first team in NFL history to be this bad in RZ futility.

Ugly: STs and ineptness in return game and on cover units. There has to be a better ST coach available than Drayton. The STs look like the units coached by Menenga and Zook. And why wouldn't they? Drayton was the top assistant for both coaches.

One more "good": Gutey signing Douglas was prophetic. Cut Yiadom ASAP. Douglas played unevenly but at least stays on the receiver to discourage the QB and if the pass is caught, makes the tackle. Yiadom is a spectator when on the field. His plays on the ball is a comedic event. He's awful. No upside. At least Douglas looks like a player and does his job.
