Practice Round-UP: Day 12. August 13, 2018

Happenings on Day 12 of Packers Training Camp

  • WR Trevor Davis (hamstring), RB Devante Mays (hamstring) and S Jermaine Whitehead (back).  Silverstein - Perry getting closer but…
  • Aaron Jones (hamstring) and Kevin King (shoulder) did not finish practice. They're out of pads now and watching the final period.  Demovsky
  • AR’s preseason playing time since becoming the starter:  2008: 16 series/93 snaps. 2009: 13/77. 2010: 13/78. 2011: 12/75.  2012: 14/79. 2013: Five/45. 2014: Eight/69. 2015: Five/45.
  • 2016: Two/26.  2017: Three/26.  Wilde
  • Rodgers said important for his blind-side blocker [Bakh] to play if he does.  Bulaga also getting first-team reps. Both he and Bakhtiari increasing their practice workload.  Wood
  • Packers rookie Cole Madison's agent: 'Plan is still to play.  Demovsky
  • Two GB scouts — Joe Hueber and Matt Malaspina — got live looks at Tim Boyle in college. They liked his live arm and found the decision to be a "no brainer" to give him a shot as an undrafted rookie.  Cohen
  • Jalen Ramsey's suspension likely voids more than $6 million in future guarantees (not that the Jaguars will be cutting him) PFT

Actual Live Plays - Passing Game

  • In 1 on 1 and 2 on 2 WR vs. CBs, rookie CB Josh Jackson and WR Jake Kumerow really stood out.  Jackson broke up two passes, including a deep ball to Davante Adams that would have been a TD. Kumerow dug one ball out of the dirt and then beat House to the corner of the end zone.  Silverstein
  • JJ’s really coming on.  Kruse I think this means Jackson, not Josh Jones.
  • Tim Boyle with a beautiful pass to Kevin Rader in coverage down the sideline.  Hodkiewicz
  • Geronimo Allison with a great catch in corner of the end zone.  Slow to get up. Silverstein
  • Allison just got another team rep and caught a pass from Brett Hundley over the middle. Looks like he’s OK.  Wood
  • Herb Waters just intercepted Aaron Rodgers in a team period. Rodgers slightly underthrew a deep ball to Davante Adams down the middle of the field. Nice play.  Cohen
  • Hundley to Robert Tonyan for a 20 yard TD pass in the corner of the end zone.  Heitpas
  • Jimmy Graham, in almost the same spot as Tonyan, leaps for one handed TD. With his catch radius, almost impossible to defend.  Hodkiewicz

Defensive Line/Offensive Line:

  • Looney was excellent. Hard for us to judge DL at practice but this was the most he flashed by my eyes.  Huber
  • Reggie Gilbert showed some quickness at the POA vs RT.. He doesn’t get home but is affecting the game.  Interesting rep in the last shot - reduced front and Gilbert is lined up at 3T. Beats RG across face for TFL…  Ben Fennell
  • 6’5 309 lbs Left Tackle. LT Alex Light: Moves better than Kyle Murphy and Byron Bell. Hopefully the staff noticed his movement skills on tape.  Eye in the Sky
  • In 1on1s, Kenny Clark had good rep beating Corey Linsey, Spriggs won reps vs Odom and Hearns.  Dougherty
  • Dean Lowry and Mo Wilkerson continue to get push in the drill.  Had Kyle Murphy winning his three reps, alternating left and right tackle.  Hodkiewicz
  • 1-on-1 pass rush in quite some time. Dean Lowry, Montravius Adams and James Looney looked good. Kyler Fackrell and Vince Biegel struggled.  Cohen

Special Teams:

  • Crosby 6-7 on FG. One bad snap by HunterBradley, though Scott got it down and Crosby made. 33-39 for camp.  Huber
  • Crosby went 6 of 7 (33, 38, 41, 43, 47 and 53). Missed 53 and then rekicked. Triner snapped first two, then Bradley two and Triner last three.  Hodkiewicz

Thanks for the good job on the updates.

I'm now more worried than I was before regarding King and his shoulders. This kid is the real deal as a cover CB. It's sad hearing he has faulty shoulders (and since college). Drafting CBs in Rd 1&2 of this years draft was paramount.

Also, it's disappointing that Biegel hasn't shown anything yet to date. Was hoping he'd break out.

Thanks James. It helps us see the ongoing

"Perry close" who else besides me is getting tired of seeing him on the injury report.

Thanks for the updates. Super excited about D-line. Corners always hurt. Good for Waters, though, getting extra reps.

Old cliche: can never have enough corners.

If he’s any good, cannot just give Boyle away. Assuming Hundley’s the backup and Kizer is next year’s backup, how do you keep Boyle around?

I like Boyle, but I disagree in philosophy. I am okay trying to sneak him onto the PS. If someone snatches him, what do we really lose? Are you actually confident Boyle will be able to get us through if Rodgers is injured? I'd rather go a different route at backup given Boyle's flaws with fundamentals. Also, if a team claims Boyle, they will have to put him on the 53, so I think that makes it less likely he gets claimed anyways. Worst case scenario, Hundley fails, Kizer fails, Boyle is snatched, and we're still looking for a backup. I'm okay with that scenario.

Last year, preseason was the Taysom Hill show. Everyone got a real good look at him. Maybe just shelve Boyle so that teams aren’t so willing to grab him.

Looney has a good shot for the practice squad.
