Can't tell you how many times in the past decade I've heard how great a player looks in OTAs, only to disappear in Aug/Sep.

I seem to remember that the last few years of Favre's career that he would say this is the best team he has been on every year.

Agree, this goes on for every NFL team. Optimism is the same for GB and all teams this time of year. All of this means nothing until the regular season starts. Trevor Davis is a superstar every year, then falls off. Let’s see how things play out.

Trevor Davis doesn't disappear, he gets injured.
The talent is there, but he just can't stay on the field.

I think this year is a little different.

Packers brought in 4 veteran guys who look like they will be starting.
Savage is the only rookie who seems to have a chance to start from day 1.

The optimism isn't in the rookies this year, it is in the 2nd and 3rd year guys who are looking to make that jump and become solid starters.

I think it's a plus that unlike last year, the rookies will have a chance to become NFL players and not worry about having to start

No such thing as a June superstar. Need pads.
