Packers Sign CFL Receiver Reggie Begelton to Reserve/Futures Contract

The Packers are starting their WR search early...

Even with a playoff game coming up, the Packers are still looking to the future. According to ESPN's Rob Demovsky, the Packers have signed one of the best players in the CFL, wide receiver Reggie Begelton (6'0", 200lbs) from the Calgary Stampeders. After leaving Lamar University, Begelton played three seasons in the CFL and in 2019, caught 102 passes for 1,444 yards and 10 TDs. They also added former West Virginia Mountaineer fullback Eljah Wellman (6'1", 241lbs) an undrafted free agent that was on the Redskins for part of this year.

Being from Canada and being a huge CFL fan, just watch out for this guy during training camp. Definitely the best hands in the league and his production stayed consistent when Calgary's starting QB missed 6 games with injury.

its funny as this receiver knows a lot about cold weather and he will really push the receiving core.

After watching the highlights I was just as impressed with the Calgary QB who kept putting the ball right on our Futures guy.

There are those that can catch everything and not be able to run a route and there are those who can run a route but can't catch everything. And in all things it is hard to find everything in a WR.

I like Wellman. Just needs a chance. Like most bigger RB, NFL coaches don't know what to do with them. FB do have a place in this pass happy league. (Never can have enough FB on your 53. Never..)

Glad to see the Packers fishing in all the streams. Gutekunst keeps expanding the the scouting field of vision.

The highlights look good, so excited to see what he can do in camp. The more competition the better. I read the Saints and a few other teams wanted to sign him too. Great job Gutey.
As an armchair GM I like doing mock drafts but they don't seem accurate in regards to trades. Does anyone know how all the trades panned out? We got a 6th from the Raiders for Trevor Davis, a 7th from Titans for Gilbert, a 7th from Ravens for Montgomery, we swapped positions with Cleveland in the 7th for McCray, and the BJ Goodson trade didn't result in any exchange because our Ravens pick is later than the Giants pick. Are these correct? Thanks

Good question, if I am not mistaken, the 7th for Gilbert was conditional. We could have as many as 3 7th rounders

I am a northern Canadian living above the 60th parallel and we watch our Canadian teams play in the extreme cold and our receivers play in very cold temps in the playoffs and our receivers really catch the ball in the extreme cold Green Bay will be like Florida to him. IE the temp here today is 35 below zero. he knows how to handle the cold in Green Bay
