Packers Question of the Day: Expectations for Sunday

Sunday marks the 196th meeting between the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears -- one of the most storied rivalries in all of sports.

The Packers will be without quarterback Aaron Rodgers, however, as they venture to Soldier Field with Brett Hundley at the helm. They're coming off of a defeat at the hands of their other NFC North rival on Monday Night Football; the Detroit Lions.

The Bears, meanwhile, have won two of their last three games and are coming off of a bye week. They also boast one of the top defenses in football.

What are your expectations for Sunday?

I expect our defense to be bad. Hot take!

I hope for a win, expect a loss. Until they prove they can win with Hundley, I have to expect a loss.

I have reasons for optimism. And I do feel optimistic about this game.

We will see what happens.

To me the difference will be which Bears defense shows up. I'm pretty worried about Justin McCray vs Hicks and Floyd could get ugly.

I agree.
But to be fair the last time we played them we had 4 Guards and a Center playing. At least this time we have 4 starters. So that does help.

Two possible results...

1) Divine intervention brings all the parts together, Hundley has a game, and the defense actually plays, you know, defense. Karma favors the Packers who win 30-13.

But more likely...

2) Reality wins, MM calls another putrid game wherein the first series is exceptional but we never see that play-calling again. Dom's defense leaves 30 yards open in the middle of the field for 60 plays. LBs blitz on every play and have no sacks. The Bears don't punt and have the ball for 43 minutes of possession. Trubisky throws for 4TDs 320 yards and a 115 QBR and has to be relieved because his arm is so tired. Bears have 497 yards of total offense. Packers lose 38-11. McCarthy talks post-game about not playing as well as they know they can, but if they can get some fundamentals taken care of, they feel good about their football team. Capers retains his job, because, you know, he just does. Capers apologists say, "well, at least they tackled better once the Bears' WRs caught the ball 30 yds downfield. Bryan Bulaga retires in the third quarter after blowing out his other knee sitting in a chair. Scott Hunter has a soft tissue injury watching the game from his couch in Alabama. Packers Nation goes bat-crap insane.

(Bonus prediction....Martellus Bennett says "screw the money," has a miraculous recovery, catches 9 balls for 128 yards and two TDs.)

I wonder if the Bears can scheme better during a bye than the Packers obvious can.....of course they can.
The Bears still suck.....
but we suck worse!

Tribrusky or whatever had no QB guru to teach him,no GOAT to learn from for 3 seasons and yet many have compared stats with Hundley who has a QB guru, the GOAT to learn from and can't do squat. Does anyone else think there is a problem with Hundley or the guru because Rodgers value and ability is undeniable.

I don't believe in MM as the guru or play calling genius. Rodgers has been the elixir behind this offense, making plays with his arms, legs and his head.

Hundley, I don't know about. I think he is trying to run a stupid difficult offense that lacks creativity. That being said, he doesn't appear to be able to read or react with a proficiency that you would expect from a guy who is 3 years trained.

The only way to help Hundley is to call a brilliant game that keeps the defense off its game. We have the tools. I am waiting for MM to show his strength as the team leader this weekend.

Callahan is a better QB by far then Hundly. The only chance he got too play this preseason was with the 2nd and 3rd string lines and he still did good even though he didn't pass that much. Which MM is to blame for that.

He puts him in and calls run plays on long yardage downs. That stunk!

Taryinfor12, I don't think Hundley is any good period, at least not from what I've seen. We need someone Better than Hundley quick??? I think I was the 1st to Post before the season started that AR might not be back next year? Whether anyone wants to believe that or not, It's a Real Possibility. I think many can see that now.

As far as Sunday goes, All is Not Lost yet. I'm Reaching here, but there are 2 Real Possibilities that could happen. These may be Big If's, but they're not impossible.

I don't have these games. I'm playing the Lions & the Rams games.

As Bad as GB has looked, They could beat Chicago, & Minn could lose at Washington. GB is +5 1/2 & Minn is -1, -1/2 on the card.

If Chicago plays their Normal game, they are going to score 16 points. You almost have to give GB a Chance to Win that game?, + using the Line they are giving up 5 1/2 of the 16. If GB can't Win this one, & Chicago somehow scores 30, then Everyone should know We are Really Really Bad.

Minn could also lose to Washington. Not saying they will, but they could? They are Not the Greatest Road Team & Not the Best on Grass. Again, Not saying they will, but Minnesota could lose to Washington. It's Very Possible.

I've been Pretty Lucky lately. If, & it's a BIG IF, but if I'm Right on these 2 games, it certainly changes the picture in GB, for the time being. I don't like it enough to Bet these games, but it's probably the way I would have played them. Just saying it's Possible. Over the years, I don't have a Good Record Betting on GB, & a worse one Betting against Minnesota. Lately I've been able to call these games. I hope for Everyone on this Post that my Thinking is Right here. Like I said, If I'm Wrong, We are Really Bad!!

I am glad the Packers cut Bennett. He was not a true Packer and was not a good fit in the locker room. This is why Ted Thompson does not sign free agents. They tried to get a better blocking TE for the run game. That is why they did not sign Cook. If Cook wanted to come back at a lower cost they might of had him as well.

The defense needs to move Mathews to the middle. Bench Ryan and Frackle and make Ha Ha cover or move towards the action. I would have Brett call the defense.

D will give up around 400yds. That being said this one will probably be close. VS bears 1 gm is a blowout & 1 gm is almost always a tight 1. Pack 19-17.

Bears rookie QB hasn't really lit up the scoreboard since he's been in. In fact is has been pretty lame results. So we do have a chance if that sorry pass rusher CM can get his head out of his, you know what, and play some ball this year. But he won't.

If the Bears go through the game without punting with their rookie QB (Lion's first time doing so since 1971 on Monday) then Dom Capers will be "officially" the most despised Packer's coach over taking Dan Devine which no one thought would ever be possible.

I'm personally expecting a long day because my girlfriend and her family are from the suburbs of Chicago and her family will be visiting. Sure looked a lot better a month ago. Oh well, they haven't had much to cheer for in the 3 years we've been together.

Im also expecting another set of articles calling next week's game a must win and going over the even slimmer possibilities the packers could still make the playoffs.

Trubisky has a career game, some bears receiver gets 12 for 180 and 2 tds. 24 to 10 bears

I'm expecting no punts from the Bears however the Packers defense will get off the field following Bear's FGs.

Then we get a turnover or two and we kick one more FG than the Bears for the victory. After all the Bears are still the Bears.

Thanks, Since '61

Should be fairly even. I would force Trubisky to beat us throwing to his WR talent. I wouldn't let the Bears beat us on the ground or with Trubisky scrambling unchecked. I suspect a lot of this will happen against our "get off the field on 3rd down defense". Still one can hope.

As I wrote earlier, we have enough on offense to get the job done. MM will need to step outside of his predictable self and call a game to keep the Bears guessing. Can he do this? If he gets the memo that Hundley isn't Rodgers and he can't work through 4 progressions then maybe Hundley can play and think faster. A lot of "ifs". Since our coaching didn't do this with the luxury of a bye week, I am betting that we won't do it on Sunday.

Bears 17-13

I expect Martellus Bennett to play and to play well, probably catches 7 passes from Brady for 87 yards.

I expect Bubba the cat to do better than I do in the weekly pick em. Bubba went 1-0 last week.

I expect to be unhappy.

If Packers lose, self - explanatory.
If they win because Bears blow up, then it will be an empty victory.
If they win because they play better, that would mean that they fixed something and the big question will be how come they couldn't do that in the last 2 games.

Sad to say it but the only way to be somewhat happy is if the Packers lose badly and somebody finally gets fired.

Maybe we should just be content about the fact the defense sucks and hope Turbisky lights up the Packers defense so that Capers gets the blame and hopefully he is shown the door at the end of the season . I have a feeling he will announce his retirement at the end of the season so the Packers won't have to look like the bad guys for firing him.

I expect the Bears to punt at least once. Unlike the Lions. Please fire Capers.
