Packers Place Josiah Deguara on PUP List to Begin Training Camp

In addition to placing Isaiah McDuffie on the NFI list on Friday, the Green Bay Packers also placed Josiah Deguara on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, according to Aaron Wilson.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise as Deguara is still recovering from the ACL injury that he suffered last season. Not to mention that during OTAs and mini-camp he was off on his own working out. Deguara can return from the PUP list at any point; however, if he begins the regular season on the PUP list, he will have to miss the first six weeks.

While the selection of Deguara in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft was heavily scrutinized, we saw during Green Bay’s Week 1 matchup against Minnesota why Matt LaFleur had to have him.

That game we saw his versatility on display as he lined up in the backfield, in-line as a tight end, as well as in the slot. He also made a few key blocks, and although Deguara didn’t fill the stat sheet by any means, LaFleur did draw up a few designed pass plays for him.

Deguara’s skill-set and versatility allows LaFleur to achieve that illusion of complexity that he often describes:

“We want to have like plays, meaning, plays that start out looking the same that are different. We also want to create what we call an ‘illusion of complexity,’ meaning we’re going to run the same concepts, but how many different ways can we run them?” LaFleur said via Packers Wire. “Whether it’s out of 11 personnel, 12 personnel, 13 personnel, just to make it a little more difficult for the defense.”

As good as this Packers offense was in 2020, finishing first by DVOA as well as in points per game scored, the return of Deguara can unlock a new element that was missing.

Big woop regarding Deguara. CheeseheadTv needs to be reporting on the unjust firing of Viking Coach Rick Dennison.
Yesterday's new NFL policy states that only Players are exempt from receiving the China virus vaccine. What a BS policy. The Vikings fired Dennison today for refusing the vaccine. Dennison has natural immunity, having already been exposed to the virus. The NFL is part of our nations recent national socialist Woke society and government. This is gestapo tactics plain and simple. The self righteous Commissioner approved this unjust firing. He has got to go. My hope is Coach Dennison legally fights, wins, and chops the NFL/Vikings to their financial knees. I pray the Packer organization ignores this gestapo tactic. GPG!!

Agreed good sir! I heard that a mystical fairy approached Dennison to grant him immunity to the virus as well. No NFL team should be able to dismiss him with that fact in mind!

'Bama', you're dropping the average intelligence of this nation.

Also, you might want to google the gestapo and learn something, along with a little self-reflection on your gullibility, because you sound like a sock puppet for a certain media company.

I was apathetic at the Deguara selection in the 3rd round and although I do follow college football, I was unfamiliar with him. However, when I saw him take out two Vikings defenders on a single block in the game against Minnesota I became an instant fan. After reading up on him I'm convinced that he is a versatile, hard-nosed football player who will give you 100 percent on every play and loves the game. In other words, I do believe he fits the bill as Packer people we like to have on our team.

CheeseheadTV erased my comment on Vikings Coach Dennison firing today. They are protecting the unfair practices of the NFL and not allowing free speech.

GPG.

Not sure what you had written about the coach, so I cannot comment on that.

However, it does not make sense to keep a coach on the team if that coach cannot be in the coaching facilities or have direct interaction with the players. So yeah, if he is fired for that, I see no foul. He should go get a job where his decision not to get vaccinated does not have potential to adversely impact the rest of the members.

Firstly he’s not fired per the team, secondly he has responsibilities and vaccine is not just about you but others including a football team. Thirdly this is not free advertising space for your manias. That and this comment have no place here.

Sadly, you are a fan of a team sport, but have no idea of the concept of unity.

Screw the coach. If he wants to be brave/ stupid about not getting vaccinated, he can do it at a job that doesn't require him to be vaccinated, for the sake of the team and it's employees. Lastly, doesn't it figure that Dennison is a viking's coach? I hope the NFL cancels the vikings season, because of Dennison's brain dead attitude.

and we also want to punt and not go for the short first down yardage or pass into the end zone for the game winning score but give the ball to Brady who only has 7 rings.
Coach is way over his head. You'll see when Rodgers doesnt show.

The same Rodgers who had three shots at getting them in the end zone and ended up throwing the ball into the dirt rather than trying to make a play on 3rd down? Cool story.
