Packers expected to sign Tramon Williams because hell yes.

The veteran cornerback could add depth to the secondary and possibly return punts.

When Matt LaFleur said it was all-hands-on-deck, he wasn't kidding.

Williams was most recently with the Baltimore Ravens and actually played in their playoff loss to the Bills this past weekend. He was released by Baltimore on Monday.

Let's go.

Take the role away from Redmond. I think that would be a good role for him.

I don't recall the Ravens bowing to the Chiefs, but I shall just submit myself to the concussion protocol.

Whoopsie...Aaron was so excited, he meant to say Buffalo. Tramon was no match for Diggs last weekend, but few are.
Hopefully Jaire will be on him in 2 1/2 weeks.
Or on the Cheetah.

Would he even be allowed to play this weekend? I thought Valdheer was eligible because he was on the Colts PS squad first, and reverted back after their season ended.

For the record, I love Tramon.

If he passes his Covid test he will be out there. Only reason Veldheer was not out there was because he tested positive for Covid.

He hasn't returned punts for a couple of years, but he would certainly be an improvement over who we've been putting back there lately. Good move for secondary depth as well.

So I guess you like the play of our Dime back. I would take Williams over Redmond everyday of the week.

He knows how to cover the short area. He knows how to read the QB and anticipate the route. He won't be going man-to-man, not that fast any longer.

Why do I get the feeling that Pettine been bugging Gute all season about Tramon. Packers have been thin at the boundary since Gray/Pettine believe Jackson can't cut it this year in their system. Signing Tramon would allow them to play Sullivan outside without any lost of gap coverage. Besides, it makes the whole organization feel better.

Spot on comment flackcatcher! Jackson has clearly fallen out of favor and that has left the Pack a bit thin depth wise at CB. Adding Wiliams is an excellent move since he knows Pettine's system and the other DBs and can fit in very quickly. Another win it all move by Gute.

I don't think that's the way it works. Sullivan doesn't have boundary experience. When King was hurt, Jackson filled in and Sullivan stayed as the third CB. But Tramon should be able to back up just about any position in the secondary. Not that he'd been anywhere near as good as a starter, but hey Jarrett Bush got a pick in the Super Bowl and he was only a special teamer that year.

He played the boundary when Alexander got hurt last year, and spotted King on that side too. The Packers have played Redmond and Hollman? in King's slot but played Jackson primary when King went down earlier this season. Even with a groin and achillies injuries, King has remained in the line up over a healthy Jackson. King's been real good over the second half of the season, still not playing Jackson to give King a break does say something about where Jackson is in the coaches mind.

Watched him play a little with the Ravens - a bit slow and not up to his usual standard. That being said - maybe in the tight redzone he could offer some heads up play. Dont mind him on the punt return because he catches the ball. Too many dumb ST on the return game - didnt we let a punt go over our heads last weekend and turned a potential short field to a first down at our 20?
The point is that he should know what to do and in certain grouping might be helpful. Think it is kind of a hole in this NFL covid protocol agreement but might as well take advantage of it - even if he doesnt play a snap - would be nice to see him on the sidelines.

I did not watch the entire game but I did watch the highlights specifically focusing on him and he looks like the Tramon that last played for us so I totally disagree with your assessment. Actually I commented that he would just be the dime back but based on what I saw I can see him taking Sullivan's job. Basically his addition would make us better.

Don’t really care why they bring him in, I am always happy to have him in GB. He deserves another ring. Have always loved him as a player and a person.

It would be great to bring Tramon back for depth and for his ability to field punts. Signing him is a win/win for the Packers. Thanks, Since ‘61

As RC said, more likely Redmond loses snaps than Sullivan. If King goes down this gives Gray/Pettine far more options with a veteran who plays two and in an emergency three DB positions. Jackson still has not lost the habit of grabbing when in coverage. That's close to an automatic PI these days. Sullivan can mirror without grabbing, and Williams is a master at mirroring without laying a hand. So it's a win/win for Green Bay. What's not to like. Come on guys, no team signs vets this late unless their all in. Gute, Superbowl or bust...

I love Tramon but have no idea what is skill set is at his age. I do not know if he would add anything to the defense at this point. The only role I can think of is him sticking with Gronk as I don’t believe he has enough quickness to cover a wideout. I kind of like it but I kind of don’t. It’s a strange year indeed. GPG!

Watch Packers vs. Buccaneers Game Live Online :2021 NFL Conference Championship

LIVE NOW:> https://tinyurl.com/y4dsfcee

LIVE NOW:> https://tinyurl.com/y4dsfcee

The opponent? Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady, who won six Super Bowls with New England and has a chance to win a seventh for his new team.

One day after the Packers mostly dominated the Los Angeles Rams in a 32-18 victory, the Buccaneers punished the New Orleans Saints 30-20 at the Superdome. The same swarming defense that made life miserable for Rodgers and Co. in October produced four takeaways and made Drew Brees look like an old man.

That set up a made-for-TV showdown between two living legends. Rodgers and Brady will meet for only the fourth time in their illustrious careers. It will be by far the most important, with Green Bays infamous loss at Seattle in the 2014 NFC Championship Game robbing the world of a Rodgers vs. Brady matchup in the Super Bowl. Rodgers desperately wants to win a second Super Bowl. Brady desperately wants to win a Super Bowl without Bill Belichick.

We ve got to go beat a great football team. Aarons playing incredible. Were going to have to play great to beat them,” Brady told Foxs Erin Andrews after the game.

The early forecast for Sunday is a high of 23 with a chance of snow.

While they never would have admitted it, the Packers probably would have preferred a matchup against Brees and the Saints. Never mind that Green Bay won at New Orleans 37-30 in Week 3 but lost at Tampa Bay 38-10 in Week 6. Brees, who has spent all 20 seasons playing in the warmth of San Diego or the dome in New Orleans, played in only one game with a kickoff temperature of 25 or colder. Brady, meanwhile, is a resounding 15-3.

Almost exactly three months ago, the Packers were outclassed by the Bucs. Coming off its bye, Green Bay raced to a 10-0 lead but Rodgers threw a pick-six and an interception on back-to-back possessions. The Packers never crossed midfield over the final three quarters. They had nine first downs on their first two possessions and four in their final 10.

Might need to add an extra finger to the scotch, but I do feel good about the team,” Rodgers said after a miserable afternoon. Ive played for so long, youre going to have a couple stinkers. I think about the game at New York many years ago [2012] where I hit Jordy (Nelson) on an out-and-up to start the game, and we lost 38-10. Tonight kind of felt like that, unfortunately, where you kind of got off to a nice start and then just nothing. So, I feel really good about our squad. Weve had four really, really good weeks, being efficient, winning, offensively being very explosive, defensively coming up with timely stops.

This is, I believe, an anomaly, not the beginning of a trend. And weve got a chance to prove me right next week.”

Rodgers was proven right again and again. The Packers will enter Sundays championship game with seven consecutive wins.

In a heavyweight showdown on Saturday, Green Bays top-ranked scoring offense overwhelmed the Rams top-ranked scoring defense. It will be a similar challenge on Sunday.

Brees was 19-of-34 passing for just 134 yards. Premier receiver Michael Thomas was shut out on four targets.

Rodgers, of course, is a far better player than Brees at this point in his career. Hes the likely MVP after throwing 48 touchdown passes in the regular season and two more in the playoffs. He led the NFL in passer rating, touchdown passes, completion percentage, touchdown percentage and interception percentage.

Tampa Bays defense is legit. The Bucs finished eighth in points allowed and first against the run with 80.6 yards per game and 3.60 yards per carry. Linebacker Devin White, who had 11 tackles and one interception against the Saints, had 10 tackles, one sack and three tackles for losses against Green Bay. The Bucs had five sacks in the first meeting.

While the reality is it will be Rodgers facing that dominant defense and Green Bays defense contending with the legendary Brady and his deep list of weapons, the hype will be centered on Rodgers vs. Brady – arguably the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history.

When it comes to big picture and you guys writing your stories and telling that whole story, which I know is a part of it, its two older guys,” Rodgers said before the Week 6 game. Hes a little bit older than I am – hes got me by about six-and-a-half or seven years – but we havent played a lot because hes been in the AFC the majority of his career and Ive been over here.

Hes obviously done it at the highest of levels for so long. Hes been an icon at the position. Hes been somebody that weve all looked up to for so many years as the standard of excellence. I think theres a ton of admiration and respect for the way that hes played the game from so many of us, especially us guys whove been in the same era for so many years with him and gotten to compete with him every now and then being an NFC guy. I think its good that we just enjoy it for what it is, have respect and admiration for the way that we have played over this time, and enjoy where were at in our careers now.”

One of my all time favorite Packers, and I was surprised to see he was still in the league while watching the Ravens game. Had to look up to see if it was THE Tramon Williams. But mostly I came to post that this is now my all time favorite Cheesehead TV article headline!

Any reports of Jordy Nelson flying to Green Bay by chance?

Love Tramon! Would be great to see him get another ring! I'd feel a lot more confident with him back returning punts. With our explosive offense, I just want a guy who can secure the ball and not turn it over. That's Tramon!
