Packers David Bakhtiari Named First Team NFL All-Pro

After having another fantastic season, David Bakhtiari has been named an All-Pro left tackle for the first time in his career. He was named a 2016 and 2017 second team All-Pro, making this his third consecutive season being selected to a team. Bakhtiari is the only member of the Packers to make the All-Pro team.

It is interesting that Bakhtiari has never gotten a whole lot of admiration from Pro Bowl voters, as he has only been named once in his career, which was in 2016. This season he was selected to be a second alternate for the left tackle position. The Pro Bowl votes are split between the players, coaches, and media, whereas LL-Pro is voted on strictly by the AP voters.

This year, Bakhtiari was graded by Pro Football Focus as the #1 ranked left tackle grading out at a staggering 88.3, allowing just three sacks. He played in all 16 games this season.

This is a well-deserved honor for Bakhtiari. Goes to show that the Pro Bowl is little more than a popularity contest.

This is why you don't move him. Drafting a Left Tackle to play RT doesn't give you another All-Pro. Or better protection for Rodgers. Draft Depth, Stockpile.

Congratulations to David. The Pro Bowl is an absolute joke. This is the award that still have meaning. Hopefully you'll get many more. With a great run he could be a hall of famer some day.

I stopped watching the Pro Bowl decades ago...it is like watching an NBA game or touch football.

Definitely not the same as it was watching it in the 70's and 80's LambeauPlain. Like you I don't watch it anymore. B.J. Raji's last performance in it sealed the deal for me.

Not bad for a 4th round draft pick...not bad at all.

Maybe Gute will find another OL gem with one of his two 4th round picks.

Looks like they get #111 from Washington via HHCD trade.

Credit where credit is due - that was a good draft for Ted:

Eddie Lacy - Pro Bowler
Micah Hyde - Pro Bowler
David Bakhtiari - All Pro
JC Tretter - Starter

Nate Palmer and Datone Jones are still bouncing around the NFL too.

On Bakh, with 4 OT's and 2 G's taken in the top 11 of that draft, he's in the Brady and Antonio Brown "steal of the draft year" league.

Yup that was a good draft for Thompson, probably his last. Thank God he hit on a few after the 2012 draft. Probably one of the worst draft classes in Packers recent history. But never really playing Hyde at Safety and letting Tretter walk for a 3 year $16.75 million dollar contract was stupid...Especially with TJ Lang leaving the following year.

Datone Jones??? Really? Who gives a crap if he's "Bouncing Around" the NFL.

Congrats to Bak...This is an honor he should receive every year!

"Datone Jones??? Really? Who gives a crap if he's "Bouncing Around" the NFL."

Fair call on Datone Jones - I was mainly making the distinction that he was one of 2 other players from that draft who are still on an NFL roster........ True, Jones is a bench-warmer in Dallas (IR now), but that team has reasonable defensive front 7

Datone Jones was a bust of a first rounder for TT, unfortunately.

Since the Pack let him walk, he hasn't played a single snap in the regular season.

He's been cut by the vyqueens, the lions, SF and signed with the Cowboys only to be put on IR in September. He will be cut by them too.

The ProBowl pretty much means nothing. This actually means something. Congrats 69

Well deserved honor for a man who puts every ounce of effort into each game and is a consummate pro. I am very happy for him. He has played with desire and energy since day one and works at his craft. Nice accolade for one of the "big uglies" who rarely get recognized for their contributions in season.

One of the things I didn't care for about Rodgers inserting himself into the last few games was it made it much more likely Bakh would be playing to protect him. He was, and probably still is, battling knee and hip injuries.

Sure would have hated have one of our best and most important players aggravating and extending current injuries that could affect his play next year, just so we could put a pelt on our wall from playing those juggernaut Jets and LIons teams.

Well deserved and long overdue. Congrats to Bak. As for the Pro Bowl I have not watched that game since back in the '90s. Just have a ceremony, give the players their awards and move on. Thanks, Since '61

Congratulations to Mr. Bakhtiari.

Some interesting names on the list. Derwin James is a 1st team all-pro. So is Quentin Nelson, which is surprising since he looked just pretty good. PFF has him as above average. Fuller should not be an All-Pro.

If you are an attacker you will have to situate yourself in relation to the opposing goal, analyze the position and behavior of the defenders and the opposing goalkeeper, know where your partners are positioned who are waiting for a center back for example.
