Jared Veldheer Placed on Coved-19 List

This is real - everybody cross your fingers...

This is not a joke.  Newly signed OT Jared Veldheer will not be making history by playing for the Packers this weekend. He had a positive result on a Covid Test and has been placed on the Covid-19 List.

Veldheer had passed a Covid test on Monday in Indy, drove to Green Bay by himself and now has failed a test in Green Bay. Luckily (for now), the Packers have passed contact tracing protocols and no high-risk close contacts have been identified, so they have not had to place anyone else on the list. The Packers will surely be on pins and needles as additional tests are administered to the team the next few days.

Hope they found it before he was in contact with other players. Sounds like they did.

Anecdotally, the AFC has had far more Covid problems than the NFC. Oof.... Dang. Was happy to see him in Green And Gold.

I wonder if he was symptomatic or asymptomatic? If the latter, he could play next week possibly, and the likelihood of transmission is far lower... crossing fingers.

I think he would be eligible Championship weekend if he's not sick because I think they lowered the quarantine to 10 days.

I'm also curious about Donald being on a plane from what I understand the pressure can make a rib injury very uncomfortable.

I don't care because I don't want to cheapen this run. You now people will say that we got lucky, had an easy schedule on and on blabber.

As little as five days if Veldheer has two negative tests within those five days. He's out for Saturday.

Supposedly, the Pack uses the large media auditorium for the O line which might have prevented a further spread. Fingers, toes, and other appendages crossed.

The rapid Covid tests are not very accurate. Maybe his full test will show negative.

Wow, that is crazy. Hopefully this really has been contained and all it means is that the Packers have the same deck to play with as they had last week. If they stay healthy I like the Packer's chances.

From GBPG:
"The Packers have done extremely well with protecting their players from an outbreak despite living in what was once the county with the highest positive rate in the state. Only two players – inside linebackers Krys Barnes and AJ Dillon – have tested positive since training camp practices began.

Practicing or playing with someone who has COVID-19 doesn't necessarily mean someone else will become infected. Both Barnes and Dillon registered a positive test the day after games, which means they were positive on gameday and played that day. There were no other positives as a result of their infections."

Fingers crossed.

States on average have done an incredibly bad job on reporting covid-19 cases. Wisconsin is one of the worst, if not the worst in the nation in dealing with accurate numbers. (Yes, NJ and NY. But those two are special in how politically screwed up they are-Sorry Al) The Evers administration has done a flat out horrible job, in dealing with covid-19 at every level. If Wisconsin and most of the other states had been more diligent in their reporting like the NFL. Then a lot of fear and anger could have avoided. (Players deserve a great deal of credit for making this work, and saving the season...)

Odds are it's a false positive. The Rapid test used by the league routinely pops numbers far higher in their baseline tests. Packers are one of the best in the league at handling this, so Veldheer will be(if not already) tested with a more accurate version of the Covid-19 test. So unless he picked up a huge viral load on his way out the door, he will be fine. Not this Saturday, but next game if they win. All in all, the Packers as an organization has been quite discipline in how they have handled the 'rona' all season. Yes, there has been a good deal of 'luck' involved, but this team has kept to its protocols all season and avoided the worst. Packers will be fine going into Saturday.
