Jake Kumerow Activated off IR for Practice

This is the second IR-return spot the team has used after activating Trevor Davis last Thursday.

Today the Packers activated WR Jake Kumerow off of IR for practice. This is the second IR-return spot the team has used after activating Trevor Davis last Thursday.

Kumerow could play this weekend against the Vikings since he has already sat out 8 games, but is not required to. Since the roster is currently set at 53, a corresponding move would have to be made for Kumerow to be activated.

Unfortunately, this move means that Geronimo Allison is done for the year after suffering a hamstring/groin injury since there are no more IR-return moves available for the team to make.

Makes sense when you think of it: with GMo out, Cobb half dead all the time, ESB and MVS still making mistakes and Moore not ready, I get it. We do need someone who can make the right adjustments all the time.

Not to mention Jimmy Graham busted his thumb, which might make him even less productive than he's been till now. At this point, what is there to lose by giving Kumerow a crack at it?

I never expected G-Mo back this year anyway.

Are you saying he's alive half the time?!?!?

He is sort of a like an earlier Gmo clone. Not all that fast or quick but knows where to be much of the time. It sounds like someone Aaron would like as wideout. And he was a preseason darling like Tonyan. He can’t be much worse than (the oft injured) Cobb. He is better than Moore, so I say it’s a positive. I wonder who goes on IR or gets cut?

I agree, this is a positive move.
I hope he can get on the field before they sit Rodgers down for the rest of the year.

He looks like Jesus and plays like Jordy. What is not to like about this guy. Trevor Davis' activation paid dividends immediately in the return game and so will this guy. Aaron Rodgers loves everything about this guy. Trust factor is at 100%. Go get em Jake!!

Dash, you said he “looks like Jesus”. Do you mean the character from walking dead? That Jesus? Because He is a baddaze. Because right now our offense looks like the walking dead. We need some kind of a spark. Besides, it looks like teams need to score fifty points to win.

I barely watch tv or any movies anymore so no Patrick. I meant the real Jesus. I did google Jesus Walking Dead and yes, Kumerow looks similar to that Jesus too. Will Kumerow (Jesus) be enough to raise this team from the ashes to the promised land in 6 weeks is anyone's guess. All we can do is pray.

I'm looking at my picture bible right now and sorry but I see Kumerow. It's probably the long hair and dark beard more than anything. As to how or if the real Jesus ever caught a ball or something similar I don't know about that or his style. I am just going strictly by their facial features only. We agree to disagree I guess.

Just look at any picture of Jesus and put a damn Packer helmet on him and I don't care what anyone says, Jesus would look just like Kumerow. Why is this so difficult for people to see? I don't understand.

If Jesus was Caucasian like Jake Kumerow, Judas Escariot would not have needed to point him out of a crowd of Semitics to the Romans.

Jeremy, you are equivalent to the one person who every year responds to the "Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor" bit and tells me it was actually the Japanese. Congrats.

I still haven't gotten over Teddy picking WR/returner Trevor Davis and KC taking WR/returner Tyreek Hill about 5 picks after....

Cobb is gone next year.
There should be a spot for Kumerow, so let's see what he shows in real games.

There's two moves years gone by that still keep me up at night. The first one is Green Bay taking Charles Johnson over Joe Montana in the 1979 draft and the second and I am sure most would agree is trading Dr. Samkon Gado to Houston for Vernand Morency. I still have nightmares.

How about in '89 with Tony Mandarich over the likes of Barry Sanders, Deion Sanders, Derrick Thomas, or Steve Atwater

Barry Sanders said he didn't want Green Bay drafting him. What did you see with Barnett? Reggie White came to Green Bay because of Favre. Players want to play for winners. A down year means less money. A rookie wants to develop. Less chance of advancement, is going to hurt any business. The packers struggles could continue for years.

Let's be honest.. Reggie came to GB for $$$$$$$$
Yeah, He said he wanted to play with Favre (weird for a defensive player to say), but he also said God told him to go to Green Bay, too.

The money told Reggie to play for GB.

Kumerow was a Rodgers favorite in the preseason, he will be a plus to the passing game.

Besides, the Packers don't run the ball anyway, might just as well have 10-12 WR's on the roster.

Leo, nah, he ain’t no Janis! No speed like the great Jeff and always in the right place. That’s not a good comparison. Is there any other reason you say that? ;-)

Kumerow also has hands and smarts. Janis lacked those traits.

Their backgrounds. Small college kids, white dudes, fan favorites and would-be saviors if they could only get on the field!

Agree there is no comparison in terms of smarts or speed. Jeff got lost once they broke the huddle, and it was downhill after that.

I don't think that Kumerow will get many snaps, at least not yet. I hope to be surprised but I expect that Kumerow = Janis 2.0. Thanks, Since '61

Allison 2.0 is likely a more apt analogy. As has been pointed out, he appears more the anti-Janis in terms of his in field attributes. I read above that he also looks like Jesus. We could do with a little of divine inspiration this week.

Kumerow - Better than 3 Rookies? How long before Gute goes? . Why? His draft is failing more and more. 1 Free agent vs 3 Draft Picks. 1 Non -report. Burks and Jackson still in question. Musical chairs is being played to perfection in Green Bay.

People want to compare Kumerow, an undrafted, fourth year NFL vet who has stuck with two different teams practice squads but hasn't made a team's initial 53 man roster in his first three years (Until the Packers kept him onboard), with 3 drafted, true rookie WR's.

It's not a fair comparison- for either Kumerow or MVS, EQ, JM.

I would expect Kumerow to be further along than any rookie- he's in his fourth year of NFL training. On the other hand, what will our rookies look like after 4 years?
