Announcing Jerry Kramer for Hall of Fame Day

Thyis Friday, July 8th will be "Jerry Kramer for Hall of Fame Day." Here are the details:

For the past few years, there has been a growing effort from Packers fans to push for Jerry Kramer to be voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. His daughter, Alicia has been active and vocal in pushing for this honor to be bestowed upon her Dad. As we all know, it's all been for naught so far.

It's been a tiresome fight for Alicia, one she is begrudgingly ready to bring to a close. This is the FINAL YEAR she is going to actively push for this.

As many others have, I've lent my support and help in the past - writing articles about Jerry and this injustice, and raising awareness on social media. But I'm just one person and just one voice.

So I got to thinking. What if I could somehow get a lot of people involved all at one time and launch a cacophony of voices that stands a better chance of getting seen and heard? Why not try to get all of the top Packers blogs out there to particiapte all on the same day?

Thus, Jerry Kramer for PFHOF Day was born.

On Friday, July 8th,  ten of the most popular Packers web sites will publish information on how you can RESPECTFULLY contact the HOF Senior Committee members and ask that they seriously give Jerry consideration this year. there will be articles, interviews and videos about Jerry all day long.

While the odds may not be great of our effort making a difference, that doesn't mean we shouldn't try. Tune in on Friday for instructions on what you can do to help. See full press release below:

Thanks,

- Jersey Al

JERRY KRAMER FOR HALL OF FAME DAY

Ten of the most popular internet blogs/sites for Green Bay Packers fans have banded together to declare this Friday, July 8th as “Jerry Kramer for Hall of Fame Day.”

Jerry Kramer is a Packers legend and was the only guard selected for the NFL’s “50th Anniversary All-Time Team.” He is the only player on that list that is NOT in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The list of Hall of Fame Members who have written letters to the HOF on Jerry’s behalf reads like a who’s who of the NFL elite: Roger Staubach, Frank Gifford, Alan Page, Chuck Bednarik, Raymond Berry, Mike Ditka, Alex Karras, Bob Lily and too many more to mention here.

While Jerry is not one to campaign on his own behalf, many others have, including his daughter Alicia. Over the last few years, she has spearheaded a campaign to raise awareness and many Packers fans have pitched in. As this is likely the last year she will pursue this dream for her father, there appeared to be a need to do something bigger and better than what was tried before. Thus, this idea was hatched.

On July 8th, the web sites listed below will all participate in a joint effort to encourage their readers to respectfully appeal to the PFHOF Seniors Committee on Jerry’s behalf. Readers will be instructed on how they may contact the committee members and ask them to once and for all, nominate Jerry Kramer. Throughout the day, the sites will be publishing Jerry Kramer articles, interviews, videos and more, with all being actively promoted on social media.

Our hope is that through this joint effort and the power of numbers, an impression that is difficult to ignore will be made on the HOF Seniors Committee.

Participating sites are (in alphabetical order):

I'm in. Anything I can do? We here in Sandpoint (Jerry's hometown) are behind any effort on his behalf. He is a total HOF'r on and off the field. He still does so much for our community.

I'll be contacting committee members on 7/8 and will post all information on my company's facebook, twitter and instagram feeds.

We need to repost all of these blog articles on the 8th to all of the social media we have control of. Let's make this thing go viral!

It's a long shot, but what about forwarding some of this to major sports media outlets? Even if it just gets nothing more than a passing "sports blog" mention at CBS or something, its probably more pub than guys like us could hope for. If some "Peter King type" decided to mention it in an "MMQB" or something, that would be like finding the holy grail. Like I said, maybe its a longshot, but other than a few wasted emails, what's the harm? I think there are at least a few writers with pretty wide readership who would agree that Jerry's omission is pretty egregious. Who knows, maybe someone like that would join the campaign.

Or what about enlisting the help of the Packers PR department?

Totally awesome. I, as many Packer fans, have met Jerry at one of his signings. His stories are those of folk lore. Humorous and entertaining.

The man should have been in the HOF decades ago.

He only threw the most famous single block in NFL history.

...and yes... I saw the play as a little tyke with my grandfather...a sweet memory.

Jerry certainly holds more than one place in history. I just can't imagine " the sweep " without him. Fuzzy is already in but Jerry made " the block " on Jethro Pugh. The NFL might not be what it is today without the interest generated by him and other stars in the sixties.
