Gut Reactions: The Packers are a terrible football team right now

Aaron gives his gut reactions from the Packers 19-17 loss to the Denver Broncos.

  • The Packers had a bye week and came out of the gate looking like that.
  • This is indeed who they are.
  • Every team is ciricling the Packers on their schedule as a "get right" game.
  • Shout out to AJ Dillon who ran well and overall played quite well today. One of the few.
  • If Aaron Jones is well enough to play but not well enough to play then Aaron Jones shouldn't play.
  • Loved to see the Packers take a lead for a brief shining moment only to have Joe Barry's defense play so soft you could squeeze your television and allow the Bronocs to walk into field goal range for the deciding score.
  • Keep competing! Drives me insane.
  • Speaking of driving me insane, the offensive line.
  • The Packers put the second round tender on and then paid Yosh Nijman and refuse to play him. There's no way he's a worse option than Rasheed Walker.
  • Jordan Love has a lot of issues at the moment but I'm not sure how many of them are of his own making.
  • Must be living right though to get that tip-drill touchdown.
  • Why LaFleur insists on all these convoluted screen plays to the perimeter to open games is beyond me.
  • Can't wait for another week of empty platitudes and then absolutely nothing changing on the field.
  • It's a long season and things can change, but Matt LaFleur and company have to change their approach if anything is going to actually change.
  • Go Pack.

Bad routes or lack of touch?

Both, a baffling offensive plan in the first half that seems like nothing was learned from what went before.

The icing for me was that we looked better with Tim at C and Nijman at RT while we actually got going, but they reinserted Myers. There is no way Walker is better than Nijman or Tom doesn’t improve us at C. But let’s just go back to “Hanson-ing” it.

If the Packers can ever play a full 4 quarters of football, especially on offense we might actually have something. However, there is no excuse following a bye week, for the Packers to lose to the Broncos who are one of the worst teams in the league. Sadly it looks like the Packers now meet that criteria. Thanks, Since '61

Yes, I agree. But I've been following sports long enough to know that this is a week to week league and I've seen teams turn their seasons around with one play or one well played game which provides the confidence to play better for the remainder. of the season.

I'm not saying that the Packers will dramatically turn this season into a solid playoff run. But they still have time to improve into a team that plays some good football and provides something to build on for 2024.

Having said that I don't have much faith in the coaching staff. The Packers should have been much better prepared to come out and take a lead against a team like the Broncos during the first half. Instead the offense was flat again and left themselves with no margin for error in the second half. They are not good enough to leave themselves in that situation by playing only about 20 minutes of good football on offense. This is on the coaches. The OL play, Love's play and the receivers is all on the coaching staff. Defensive lapses are on Barry.

So yes it's a big IF because of the coaching staff. But if the coaches can get their act together maybe the players will actually improve their level of play over the remainder of the season. If not we're goimg to coontinue to see what we've seen during the last 2 games against 2 of the weakest teams in the league. There is no excuse for today's performance after coming off a buy week. We'll see how it goes against the Vikings next week. Thanks, Since '61

Hey there Since, I always respect your viewpoints, and you do NOT strike me as a “fire everyone”, liquor-fueled reactionist, so here is my sincere question:
When you say the offense is “flat”, what exactly do you mean? Unsuccessful? Penalty ridden? Overmatched personnel-wise? Lacking intensity, effort, “fire”?
(To explain: I have always thought “flat” meant ONLY poor effort. But maybe my interpretation is too narrow.)
Thanks in advance!

Hi TK. Usually when I use the term flat for the offense I mean lack of intensity and/or unprepared to execute effectively against the defensive scheme they are facing from the opponents defense. After a bye week the Packers offense should have been better prepared to execute their plan effectively against the Broncos who are one of the worst defensive units in the league. Instead they could nothing done until late in the second quarter.

I don't think that the Packers were over matched by the Broncos defense. They just did not or could not execute. Toe that is the result of lack of preparation or lack of intensity or both. They should have been ready to come out and set the tone of the game to the Broncos from their first drive. Thanks, Since '61

Guys - your response that "you just don't fire a coach because he has a bad year. There have to be a few" is accurate.
But MLF HAS had a few. Many in fact. How many times do we have to see the team unprepared. AR and DA covered for a lot and the OL was better. I don't expect the Packers to fire MLF during the season or even after, but IMO, he deserves to be.

Barry - they keep saying they will play tighter but they don't. At least not consistently. And the missed tackles.
And the lack of agressiveness. I'm glad you saw the same thing that I did - I think it was mid 2nd qtr, when 2 Packer defenders had the play bottled up behind the line of scrimmage and they just waited there for the receiver to come to them giving them positive yardage. I'm long done with Barry.

But this game was lost by Love too. He is consistently underthrowing the receivers. Or slightly behind.

I guess we'll see how the season goes. Maybe he will improve. But I'm not hopeful. But it certainly sucks hoping
to go 2-15 so we get a better draft pick.

Why ? Why wouldn’t you expect to see MLF fired at seasons end?
You don’t think the FO knows AR and DA carried this clown?
We have scored 26 first half points through 5 games. Reminder .. Detroit scored 27 against us in the first half .
Last year with Rodgers we had 1 first drive TD.
MLF is a bust. Those that support him will be saying the same thing in 2024 or 2025 if he’s still ( gasp) here.

I agree Aaron! After a bye and we have the same script! We have become too predictable and lack imagination! Why do we keep doing the same game after game. These coaches have more access to the other teams tendencies than we the average fan but we all know our script and nothing changes. Offensively are we afraid to try some thing different? Defensively 3rd and 5 so we play off receivers 6 yards……..

My favorite barry call was Denver was 2nd and 31 from their own 5 yard line, and they run a draw play that gets 25 yards for a 3rd and 6. The LBs were 30 yards downfield and had to come forward to tackle the back.

I’m afraid the only way out of this mess is through it. Is it possible to overcome inexperience, injuries, and all the outcomes of poor coaching to win in the NFL? No, no it’s not. There’s a kaleidoscope of ugly in Green Bay and no amount of light and reflection can foster immediate change. No magic wand in sight.

I don’t think Jordan Love needs to be the answer. He’ll improve. I don’t think Matt LaFleur knows what the questions are. It’s not the 80’s, not even close. You’d have had to experience that desperation and futility to understand. I still believe this is a talented roster.

Bring on the Minnesota NFL franchise. They don't know if their butthole is punched or bored either. Clash of the Titans at LalalalaLambeau!

Here's to improved play. Go Pack!

I agree with the overthinking. Chess match. My concern is that GB lacks talent on the O-line and experience everywhere else on offense. The first one requires another offseason of FA and draft, and the second one takes time.

The role of the GM is to build a team that is capable of winning it all. The Packers in 2021 and 2022 were NEVER going to do this. Even though they’ll never say it around, the Green Bay front office knew going into it that 2023 would be a rebuilding year. Gute is clearing the cap for 2024, and giving young players lots of experience. We are seeing those ups and downs.

The 2023 Packers are very young. The offense is the youngest unit in the NFL since 2017. Then you throw in that their best and most experienced players have been hurt: Bakh, Jenkins, Alexander, Jones, Campbell, Gary on a pitch count… and it only gets more pronounced.

Yes, I was hopeful that Love and the young pass catchers would be better so far. But there is still time. It’s not week 18 yet.

No. This year wasn’t the mistake. Gute’s mistake was 2021 caving to ARod and paying him and his buddies top wages for two years we were never going to win it all to cater to an old QB. We are seeing the ramifications from that mistake. Not the mistake to draft Love when Rodgers looked washed and uninterested throughout 2019. The mistake to keep a 40 year old Diva at QB.

If GB ends up 7-10 or 6-11, but is playing well at the end of the year, that’s just fine for me. And if they’re just truly awful? Then they will have the draft position and cap space in 24/25 to completely clean house.

This, as crappy as it is, is better than the doomed 2021 and 2022 seasons going into them.

6 wins are a fantasy. With every loss they also lose a bit of punch and they didn't have much to begin with. Easy to see a death spiral going forward. A first ot second pick seems likely and thus we are looking at the sunset of the Love era.

The "haters" are blind to the obvious, just like last year. Same OL, defense and coaches that Rodgers had to deal with, but then it was all Rodger's fault for a loss. They can't / won't admit they were wrong and that 2020 draft pick was a "dud".

Poor Aaron having to deal with all the bad coaching when he broke his thumb and refused to sit his ass down when he threw wounded ducks all over the field. We would have gotten a better idea what we had in Love if Rodgers ego wasn't as big as Alaska.

Yes he should have been gone when he was bad mouthing the GM and would have had great draft capitol and not been in salary cap hell today.

I've been thinking about that. I was thinking that I might go to the game since I'm in the NY area. But why would I want to spend money and a whole day to see this team. I've been a fan since the 60's and there were certainly bad seasons in the 70's. Maybe because I couldn't see them all, it didn't seem so bad. But watching this team is just painful even though they almost pulled it off.

1) He's been undermined by unfortunate roster and coaching decisions...

BUT

2) he is also not reading the field. That last throw into double coverage when he had a man running free.... Ouch. That's not coaching, that's him not processing

And he's not a rookie

I am all in on a top pick next year for a quarterback.

There was a regular poster on here who would repeatedly post Love=Kizer 2.0. And this was well before Love became QB1. Never Boyle 2.0. Never Benkert 2.0.

There must be something about Kizer and Hundley that didn't apply to Boyle or Benkert. What could it possibly be?

I agree. Bad decisions and I keep hearing he will clean them up but still has not. He has had 3 years to learn the offense. Clifford looked better to me in the preseason and it is his first year. Love is also not accurate at all and that is the worst part of all. For all of the talk of a strong arm why does he continue to underthrow everyone? Not a big fan of the ho hum attitude either.

This group has waved the white flag, MLF has no clue, his play calling leaves this team in a dark closet. Team has turned him off they are very young so they can get better but the defense can't make a stop when it really counts. Might be worst team or they are very close to it.

I've tried my best to not criticize this coaching staff, but these last 3 games have changed that. There is no longer a doubt this isn't working. MLF...nice guy, not a head coach. Give him AR12 and DA17 and he'll win a lot of games. Turn a young, inexperienced group of players that need learning and guidance to grow together and he's just not the guy. Maybe an OC on some team with a lot of established veterans and he'll do fine.

We need a Mike Holmgren or an Andy Reid for this team to grow. Unfortunately, they don't become available that often. Rich B. maybe? I don't know. What I do know is we can't go into 2024 with this same staff coaching this young team.

I am also thinking Love is not the answer as well. If he was accurate then yes but he is far from accurate. Decision making is not good either. Defenses can read him like a book. I would bet Clifford could move this offense more than Love. I wish they would bring him in and find out. I do agree with the thoughts on the coaching staff. I am tired of the I have to look at the film and we will get it fixed. You had 2 weeks to prepare for the Broncos that every team has moved the ball on and this is the best you came up with? That does not impress me at all. I get the defense because Barry is terrible and everyone in the world knows it but MLF who continues to go to bat for him. Remember Barry said he would come up with a plan to stop the run? He had 2 weeks and the defense looked the same to me. Never going to win anything with this brain trust.

Packers just inherited ( by poor coaching) the title of worst team in nfl. I do not know who they can beat at this point. Time to clean house from top down. Time to find front office people who can find “tough” not soft football players. Time to move on from poor defensive coaching. Time to bench love and try out our backup ability (could not be any worse). If after 1 game in 22 days you are not prepared……you will never be. MLF bye bye. Joe Barry bye bye. Mark Murphy bye bye. Gute bye bye.

You cannot clean house with Murphy in charge. This is the one down side of public ownership. He owns his "bosses". Holmgren or any serious coach or GM won't take the job without being able to call their own shots. MM (Mr. Medocrity) stands between us and winning football.

There's eleven to go and a lot more ifs and if only's to come.
Dillion had a good game, but be wary of false positives against the worst D in football.
MLF actually believes Meyers is better at C than Tom, even hurt.
Unless a Ref tosses a DPI, Love is not winning any games off his deep ball.
Luckily, Wick kept his eye, than hands on the ball, someone's concentrating.
When you can't give 100% for 100% of the game, don't play.
MLF trying to hypnotize opponents into the 'Illusion of Complexity' by delusional play calling, as his play book is an Illusion of Existence.
This is proof that this team did nothing to change over the bye.
Losing to a shittier team by playing shittier is coming easier for them.
We haven't even played a good team, yet.

as a packer fan through thick and thin for almost sixty years, im having a really shitty time finding some positives here.....There was AJ Dillon, who played inspired ball l.ike a guy with an expiring contract. thats about it. Another game where the offense doesnt wake up until trailing in the third quarter defense spent the first half {again} on the football field. On deep balls, Love is trying to place/aim too many balls. Seems like he is trying to be AR instead of being Jordan Love . Defense gave up two soft scores, one before the half, the other when it was on the line. Holding call killed us at the end. I know this was what was go9ig to be this year, but. I was hoping to see a little more fire while the learning and losing took place. C;mon guys , GOPaCKGO!

Wow, I can't imagine watching an entire season of this. But this is my BIGGEST concern right now.

Mark Murphy is back for the 2024 season no matter what and HAS to retire by July 2025.Does he clean house at the end of the season? I mean Murphy can't possibly be thinking of bringing back ANYONE can he? Gute, Matt Lafleur and his entire staff. They ALL MUST GO, and the sooner the better.

Go RAID the Ravens and/or 49ers front offices. That Ravens front office is a machine. Just like the Packers USED to be before Mark "Silos" Murphy mucked it all up.

This isn't a reaction just based on what happened today. This has been on my mind since Detroit spanked us and the team the Bears WHOOPED today, the LV Raiders, beat the Packers too. Those two teams were SUPPOSED to be two of the worst.

The Packers can now lay claim to not only being the worst coached football team in the NFL. They ARE the worst football team in the NFL. Period, end of story.

MLF must go first and Barry with him. The Head Cheerleader is just that. He has never prospered anywhere. Same goes for the Dingle. MLF can not scheme and play-call like Shannahan. Love would do fine under the 49er system. MLF doesn’t understand the offensive concept. The defense coach replacement should teach, demonstrate and demand a more aggressive, hard nosed, “you tackle or gone mentality.”

Murphy goes next, and that is at season end. The two mentioned coaches go this week.

Guty can have one more shot if he’s not choke collated by our Disney President Alfred E. Newman. He needs full control of football operations. Right now he has only 1/3.

GPG!

Spot on.....the worst part is we all know they will do nothing in the off season...pat each other on the back go to the golf course laughing all the way to the bank.
They all need fired starting with MM, Brian, MLF. This is a very untalented team, orrrr most of the skill position players are just not smart enough to learn the system, which is so stale we are not beating anyone anyway.
Was no one paying attention when Aaron said last year we needed to simply things?
I understand they are young but so are a lot of other players in the league who are phenomenal.
You have to look at the guy evaluating the players...
Reed looks like the only receiver that knows wtf football is.
Watson is not good unless he 15 yards open.
Doubs tries hard but can not catch consistently...if the QB can be within 10 yards of where he is and that's a very big if
Love should be the biggest reason our arrogant GM is shown the door. My god is he bad. Really bad. If we all have to listen to his Um....Um...Um....Um...um...um 1 more freaking time in a press conference im going to lose my mind
He says it every god damn time...DUH

The Packers used up their bye week to regroup and put this product on the field??

I've refrained from the torch and pitchfork club because I understand we have a very young team and most of the season is still ahead, but any semi-conscious fan can see that the Packers are getting worse with every game... and losing to the bottom feeder Broncos may not be the end of the slide.

Question number one is: do the Packers have talent? You would think so on defense with all the #1 picks! If so, why do they never seem to correct their run defense and always seem to fold in the clutch? On offense, I'm beginning to think no. The Packers were supposed to be a good running team with a strong offensive line, but I don't see much evidence of either. Yes, Jones looked great early in the season but I fear he might now be a broken part. After a poor start, Dillon has stepped up, but by league standards, he's nothing exceptional. Losing #69 was a major blow, but the rest of the line still hasn't gotten settled.

And then there's Jordan Love. We've all been rooting for him, but the reality is, he's average AT BEST. His decision making is suspect and his deep ball is atrocious. You can sugarcoat things by doing statistical comparisons to the first starting years of other great players and pointing out that his receiving arsenal is very young, but my eyes tell me he simply does not have the makings of a good NFL QB. Favre, Rodgers and others had growing pains for sure, but even from the get go, you could sense something special about them. I see no wow factor whatsoever about Love.

Getting back to the talent, I would argue that on defense under Barry, the sum has always been worse than the parts. On offense, the parts may be the problem, but I still wonder if another coach might do better with them, or if a different GM might have drafted better players.

In any case, these guys are on the hot seat in ascending order: Love, Barry, LaFleur, Gutekunst, and Murphy.

I survived the dark ages between Lombardi and Holmgren and smell another bleak period about to descend upon us.

Completely agree! MLF is not impressing me at all. His teams play soft and get pushed around. Looks like they do not practice at all. The fact that he has not moved on from Barry alone tells me a lot. Everyone in the world can see he is not a good defensive coordinator. The fact MLF had 2 weeks to come up with something to get the offense going and this was his best effort is maddening. A lot of his decisions irritate me as well. Game on the line where was Jones? Even if he is on a pitch count if he is feeling OK put him in there if you really want to win. Instead you decide to keep feeding Dillon for 1 or 2 yards a crack? Unless there is a huge hole then he gets taken down by a safety that weighs a lot less? Why brag about huge legs if you can not use them to pick up 2 yards to get a first down? I am tired of hearing the excuse of being young. Look at the Rams and Colts both are almost as young and playing much better.

Yes, the currentl Packer team is not very good. We have a somewhat soft schedule and this type of game is going to happen repearedly. Here are my gut reactions:
- There is so much poor execution with the offense. Lafleur was so mad at one of the missed 3rd down conversion.
- Jones must be still hurt. They sure didn't use him well. Dillon played well.
- We have a quarterback that likes to take deep shots. Shades of Rodger last year. And he is passing up dumpoffs. He hit Dillon for one that went for 30 yards. The longest passing play of the game. Can't fathom not using the RB's more. And Love still has accuracy issues.
- The deffense played well enough to win. But only with an offense that can score more than 25 points. Barry soft defense always allow teams to drive down the field in the 4th quarter and at least get a FG. This team can't win with that performance.
- VEteran QB's will always find the right receiver or play to keep moving the chains. Barry is an out and out loser.
- I'm glad the refs disqualified Jackson for the bad hit. They should this week sit him for two games..it was a cheap shot on a defenseless player.
- the offense is not executing. The holding call on Jenkins is from a pro bowl veteran. That is how bad they are playing. Love can't overcome a play like that. Game over.
- there will be no wins this year because the Packers have better players or units. You win by out executing the other team. And this team is a long way from that. And the coaches schemes are a hindrance too. Especially the defense.

This is a nice post. I have less issue with the Jenkins hold. Jenkins is pass-blocking when Love decides to take off running. Because Jenkins is mirroring the DL, he isn't ready to seal off a running lane. In other words, without the hold I don't think Love gains any yards on the run unless he can break a tackle by a DT.

Holding penalties that negate nice plays are frustrating but are less so if the hold is what sprung the runner in the first place.

I agree that the execution isn't crisp.
Even quick screens seem slow to develop.
Several times 3 receivers end up in the same area.
What happened to using the middle of the field?
What happened to sending Musgrave down the seam?
Can anyone win on a slant?
OL = 4 average-ish (?) guys + 1 who approaches above average.
DL doesn't get push either. Might get penetration with quickness.
WRs haven't been doing Love any favors this year. Better tonight.

Watson so far isn't a #1. Big play guy, yes, but not a volume WR who moves the chains. Doubs and Reed disappear for long stretches. Curious about snap counts.

Have to call screens and the like when you're getting outmuscled. They can't go toe-to-toe with opponents.

The OL might seal off and create a running lane, but just doesn't get any push.

Don’t let your homerism overrule your gut. This is a badly coached team. O and D. Wrong play calls on both sides. A good play here and there doesn’t excuse the consistent bad play calls. IMO, it is coaching, not players. Ride it out. Hopefully, someone on the board calls it for what it is and has the influence to exact change.

but i have seen enough now of Love to think he is at best a lifetime backup. he does not see the field and does not make the throws. i actually stopped watching and switched to KC to watch a well coached team. but that of course guilt took over and returned to watch us take a lead, and then knew we would give it up as soon as we kicked off.

With AR at this point in his first season, I could see the promise. Love is trending more towards JAG. Now a big part of that could be his WRs being young, stupid, and running wrong routes. But the decision making and accuracy are concerning. With experience, the decision making can improve.

While 19 points is not a bad total, it was 5 scoring drives, and defense failed to show up for the most important drive. Then some of the defensive success was due to an unforced drop, which ended one denver drive, and denver simply not sticking with the run, even though at one point they were averaging 7.5 yards per run late in the game.

I figured the packers would be 50% and +/- 2 games, so 6 to 10 wins, and they are trending towards the 6 and top ten draft pick.

I don't see any indication that the young guys are learning and improving.

We can't get out of the gate early on offense partly because the pass plays are too timid--too may short outs and behind the LOS action going on. Trying to drive the ball downfield three yards at a time is not the right approach. It was pathetic that all we had to show for the first half was a missed FG attempt; we weren't exactly up against a legendary defense.

Bad run defense as usual, allowing nearly 6 yards/attempt.

Highlights: the Wicks pass, the Doubs TD, and Reed's immaculate reception. I like Reed--maybe because I sense he has some magic in him. By the way, wasn't he open on Love's last gasp into double coverage?

That holding call on the last drive was a killer. Those kind of setbacks in clutch time are always difficult to overcome, but especially for this team.

It was movie night the eve of the game. The offense watched "What To Do In Denver When You're Dead." The coaching staff watched "Clueless". The DC then watched "Killing Them Softly".
Now, we can all agree that Love has not looked like a world beater in his first season as a starter. But comparing him to Favre or Rodgers seems a bit much. So, how about a comparison with Jalen Hurts, drafted by Philly in the second round the same year Love was taken by the Packers? If Love can show a similar growth curve, the team should be fine.
https://www.nfl.com/players/jalen-hurts/stats/career
The question being, is this staff capable of developing a young QB? We are going to find out. And we can fervently hope that Love is an acceptable starter. Because if he's not, then the Packers are in the same QB scramble that a lot of other teams have been experiencing for years. Just look at the Cardinals, or the Niners, who lucked into a QB who can apparently at least manage a game efficiently. Or Washington. Or the Bears, not to mention Cleveland. The list goes on. But sometimes, with the right coaching, the QB can become more effective. Look at Tua in Miami. The coaches made adjustments to get the ball out of his hands much quicker, and got some really good WR's to help him out. The clock is ticking, and the alarm is set to go off pretty soon. Start with Murphy, get someone committed to winning a SB, not the profit margin, and then clean house on the coaching staff.

::Tom Clements enters the chat::

So, remember Tom Clements? The coach Aaron Rodger credited with much of his early success? He's the QB Coach for the Green Bay Packers, and he deserves a full to work with Jordan exclusively as a starter.

All the blather about it being time to bench Love is short-sighted and immature. Take a few moments to review the first six or seven years of Steve Young's career. Those Tampa Bay years were brutal, and he sat in SF until Montana was injured, then traded.

It's not time to give up on Jordan Love or Tom Clements

None of us are inside, is Clements engaged? Is he empowered? This is obviously not his offense, he was running a McCarthy system when he was involved in developing Rodgers, and Rodgers notoriously was unwilling to credit McCarthy for his development.

Clements might be a great coach when coaching a west coast system, but I have no idea what a MLF offense is (nor apparently does Matt LaFleur).

I'm going back to my big question. If this team continues to struggle, has no particular identity, but somehow claws together a 5-1 run to end the season to finish at 7-10 or 8-9 or 9-8, is that enough for MLF to keep his job?

We knew going into the season it was going to be rough. Love threw two touchdowns today but was inconsistent . We should expect that from him as well as those around him. What I find frustrating, is they are not competitive. If they were competitive for four quarters they would always be in the mix and probably win. But for some reason, the coaching staff simply cannot get the team competitive, with the exception of a quarter or two. Berry should be gone but I am not on the fire everyone train yet. I supported the changes they made this season so I was prepared for a rough season. I was not ready for a completely uncompetitive and just plain bad team.

Last year Leroy Butler talked about the defense needing to have an identity - like a go-to formation that everyone was comfortable and confident in to stop or limit just about everything, Or like swarming a runner and getting to the ball fast. The same could probably said of offense and the team in total, but the point was that until you get a certain cohesiveness or identity, you can't be consistently competitive. I don't think the Packers are nearly as "plain bad" as many of the Packer teams were in the 70's and 80's. I have patience for them to try and put their talents together on the field, and I am predicting 6 wins. I think that the Packer comeback in this game showed resiliance, and I liked that. Too bad they put themselves in such tough positions to start.

1. Lefleur has already lost confidence in Love. His scheme is run run screen pass or dink pass run run. Thus the slow start, no down field plays until we need them.
2. How out of shape are these guys? Watson has hardly played and he look Injured again. Campble still out for a hammy? Wyatt looks f'n over weight and out of shape. No production from a high draft pick.
3 Defense was in prepared for Wilson. He always tries to play hero hiding in the pile then running for a first. We couldn't put a scout on him ?
4 When we needed Jones in the end he was on the side lines. Christ what a waste. Resting an injury doesn't win games.
5. Dumb ass people make dumb ass mistakes. That jenkins hold killed us. cost us the game. He hasnt 0layed well since his big injury. This is not a good football team. Going to a lot of years to turn this team around. Lots of losing ahead.

The fact that the team played its best football in the first 7 quarters of the year have have shown no progress since is disturbing. He had 2 weeks to game plan the Broncos and this is what they came up with? Looked like they did not practice. I am not a fan of Love. Been in the system now for 3 years going on 4 and is regressing. I am tired of the excuse he needs time to play. Other quarterbacks come in and play. Look at Purdy with the 49ers. He is NOT accurate at all and since he is supposed to have a strong arm it sure does not show when he plays. Barry is a terrible coordinator and that alone makes me wonder about Matt. Are they trying to lose games on purpose? I can not believe they look this bad and are seriously trying to win.

Agree. While I hate seeing anyone hurt I was happy to see Tom at Center and Yosh at RT. They paid Yosh and he has experience at LT. Did he park in MLFs parking space?

Hate is an overused word and I hate using a word that is so hateful—but I HATE the Broncos.
This was easily predictable of course, considering our coaching staff and unending list of players on injured reserve or standing on the sidelines with sore hammys.
Dillion—seriously. He’s the games golden boy? Plod plod plod—and never in the endzone. The Broncos are possibly the worst run defense in the NFL—but let’s praise Dillon—get real.
I’m sick of the litany of useless excuses that are parroted out each week—we’re to young, Love’s learning/improving
I seriously wonder if we will win another game this year?
Ok—time to hit my broncos piñata.
Go Packers —-improve please..

Simply put.. it’s year 5 of the MLF era.. what exactly makes anyone think year 6 will be better?
Remember Rodgers carried this staff for 3 years. We also have a GM that traded up for Jordan Love. Think about that.
Start over while the nucleus is still young.
Remember the definition of insanity. MLF reminds you every Monday.

It’s still too early to give up on Love, but it’s becoming entirely plausible that the Packers might after 11 more games - especially if they have a top 5 draft pick

I have lost all faith in Matt LaFleur to put together a coherent game plan or have this team ready to play. They are sloppy and just so soft

As for Joe Barry, I have to believe his continued employment is a conspiracy by the front office to lose more games during a rebuilding year for a higher draft choice

I've been a packer fan and supporter since Lambeau opened in '57. I unfortunately had to live through the dreaded games of the 1970's and 1980's hearing all the smart ass remarks like "The Pack is back with Bart the fart" and other such crap.
I was excited for the team to get back on track today and wanted to see us rip the Broncos a new one. The game and level of play reminded me of so many of the games from those '70's and 80's and makes me sick. It's time for dinner and it's also time to break out the margarita mix.

Takes me back to the old 70’s & 80’s. I like Matt and I respect his loyalty. However I think he has 11 weeks to turn this around or he is a QB coach somewhere next season. Barry summed it all up with that prevent defense he went with before halftime. We are gonna see what Love is in the next 11. Gutey’s job is linked with Love so Murphy could be cleaning house in January. We’ll see. But this is what we got for the next 11. Whitehurst is not walking thru that door…

Whitehurst—good one.
We might we Clifford however if Love continues as is.

I am pretty confident that this Packer team is better than the Packer teams of the great depression. This team came back and took the lead and had a chance to win it. The key false start penalty was vintage Pack, but overall the Defense held them to less than 20. It takes coaching and team leadership to develope an identity and build confidence, and this team doesn't have either yet. Lets see what happens.

Young, injury riddled team loses another close game.... Ya everybody is pointing to stats to say that Denver is a shit team but the phrase "Any given Sunday" is another way of saying that if your team makes mistakes your probably gonna lose regardless of how good the opponent is perceived to be. There is a reason there are so few seasons with teams having no wins or no losses.

I believed at the start of the season that the BEST CASE for this team was 7 or 8 wins... I cant understand people yelling about Love not playing like a 4th year starter....Love is pretty much a rookie and is gonna have those rookie moments....pre-season and practice just arent a valid substitute for real live games against pros fighting to get paid and coaches game planning for you...

Like ive been saying all year...enjoy the fuck out of the wins and just shrug your shoulders at a young team learning the ropes for the losses. If you thought that getting rid of Adams and Rodgers, two of the best in the game, was gonna make this team better then go ahead and lose your mind with how "crazy" things have turned out....

Excellent point So therefore you need to adjust your plan. Hello McLF

Adams left because he felt disrespected by the FO and Rodgers. I'm a fan of Rodger's talent but as soon as he discovered he could control the media in 2019, his ego ballooned to epic proportions. He initial complaints were valid but he soon became punch-drunk on his own notoriety.I think he was engaged in 'cleansing' while Adams was twisting in the wind trying to
get paid. Adams was asking for too much but Rodgers could have intervened w/both the FO and Adams, taken less $$ or @ least been present.
Rodgers is still @ it in NY-it's still all about him. GB had to show him the door, they just should have disciplined him much sooner.
A personality like that has to go.

Fans may have to do more than just complain on this site week after week about Murphy, Gute, MLF and Barry. I remember reading the same complaints last year and the year before...

Honestly, the defense is the only thing go well right now. Unpopular take among Packers fans, I think Berry has done a good job so far. The defense has no talent outside of Clark and Gary (and Alexander when healthy). He plays these shell coverages because his guys can't cover and he so far has limited most teams to around 20 points. Obviously the guys can't tackle consistently, but can't do much about that from the coaching box (maybe from Gute's box).

The offense is undisciplined and kills its own momentum with a dropped pass or dumb penalty almost every drive. To me that's coaching these young guys up.

Can anyone explain why our receivers are running routes and end up in the same area? This has happened in multiple games!
