Gut Reactions: Seahawks 27 Packers 24

  • The biggest problem with this team? Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers
  • One of them just got paid. So we know who will swing at the end of the year if things keep going this way.
  • I need to apologize to Kyler Fackrell every week.
  • Hated the 3rd and Goal big blitz call from Pettine.
  • Tony Corrente's crew did everything they could to keep Seattle in it tonight.
  • That TD throw to Tonyan was God-like.
  • McCarthy coached scared at the end and it cost him.
  • I mean, my god man, it's 4th and 2. You have 1 timeout and your defense has been out there twice as long as your offense. Effing go for it.
  • Davante Adams can not be covered by one human being.
  • The sequence that saw Rodgers throw it into the ground on 3rd and 2 and McCarthy deciding to punt on 4th and 2 is a perfect illustration of the Packers 2018 season.
  • Can't handle Daniels and Clark both getting hurt.
  • That bomb to Adams (where he got interfered with - not called, of course) - was baller.
  • Aaron Jones getting 11 carries against a defense allowing 5 yards a carry coming into the game is criminal.
  • Loved seeing a big play from Matthews to start the game.
  • The toss play worked! Unfortunatley that means Mike will keep calling it.
  • Tony Brown is raw but he's got a lot of talent and promise.
  • There isn't enough beer in the world at the moment.
  • Go Pack.

That 2nd half offense was a nightmare, and it's McCarthy and Rodgers fault

. Converting 3 out of 11 3rd downs is simply pathetic

. I'm buying a Fackrell Jersey... lol.... seriously, who would have guessed he would be contributing this much this year? Go, Sackrell !

. Props to our D for fighting hard with a depleted unit and being left on the field to long by our offense

. I really like Mike Pettine as our D coordinator

. I really don't like Mike McCarthy as our HC anymore . He did good for awhile, but it's just time to move on.

. Loved the way they used Aaron Jones on the last TD drive of the first half , getting him into the open field was good

. Where did that strategy go in the second half ?

. More going deep on 3rd and short

. Rodgers Taking all those sacks was hard to watch

. The refs hate us

. Nice challenge on the dropped pass that set up the Seachickens last TD, Mike.... bad

. Maybe we should have covered the slot receiver on Seattle's last touchdown. Nobody on that guy

. We had a tired depleted D, so why not go for it on that last 4th down we had?

. I hope we keep Pettine as our DC when MM gets fired (he better be released)

. We are running out of Safeties and even CBs

. We should have won that game

. Rodgers is not earning that fat check so far, actually, the first half was ok, but that 2nd half was simply brutal. He is just off this year comparing to his past standards. I understand in the beginning of the year, but the knee doesn't seem that bad anymore

. I think I'm going to Nestle up to a bottle of Jameson and then pass out

"Aaron Jones getting 11 carries against a defense allowing 5 yards a carry coming into the game is criminal."

How do you comprehend it? Jones was gashing the Seahawks and MM, on queue, forgot he exists. It's almost like Mike wants to be fired.

In the first half Aaron Jones get 11 touches and Packer score 21 points, second half Packers get 5 possessions and manage four punts and a FG while starving Aaron Jones to the toon of 5 total touches, lol. I guess Forrest Gump is right " stupid is as stupid does". McCarthy seems to me at this point he's ready to move on from Green Bay because I have a hard time imagining him to be so oblivious.

Pettine's blitz vs Wilson's blitz read success rate of 129..a fraction better than Rodgers.

First game this season I'll watch without a financial wager....I lean Sea but they seem more blunder headed than GB and a error will produce the winner in the last 2 min..Pack over think and make the mistake....27-24 Sea.

A-Rod you stink! You can't plat 4 quarters anymore. You can't see Jones in your face in the red zone? Draft a QB #1 please. A-Rod is stinking up the field. Too many points left on the field because A-Rod made his stats. Make a bet he stays in Seattle. He's torn this team apart!

Like it or not, we can't move on from Rodgers for at least 3 more seasons. Over $100 million guaranteed in his contract. Personally, I think we could get a bunch of nice draft picks for him, and I'd be open to that. Package some of the picks to grab a hotshot Rookie QB, and also fill some of our other weak spots. Losing his salary would make us a big time player in free agency as well. Besides his playing scared and having totally messed up mechanics, he's getting older and it's obvious he's already lost some of his speed and elusiveness. Check some film from 2-3 years ago, the difference is profound. A trade won't happen, but I think it'd be best for the team.

You do have a point. I also thought he was missing the rookies on purpose. Like were suppose to go out and get him Beckham and better. But even Graham didn't make a great difference yet. Let's flip the coin here. Miss the rookies you make a case for Cobb. Fire MM you control Gute. Do you think Gute has the balls to replace A-Rod? No. We have to not look what Arron Rodgers is making. Judge him like everyone else. It's time to realize Arron Rodgers is not a answer anymore. He's a question Mark.

Just when I thought we've been hit with enough devasting losses for one season, another promising game unfolds.

McCarthy needs to get canned ASAP. We need to run the table to make the playoffs and anyone who has watched this team knows that isn't happening. I don't know if he or Rodgers are to blame for running the play with 1 second on the play clock but it definitely lost us the game this week. Aaron Jones barely touching the ball in the second half was another tragedy.

The refs were god awful, I counted multiple game-changing calls in favor of the Seahawks.

For all the praise we give Rodgers for throwing up semi-accurate bombs, we need to call him out when he makes terrible throws. In the redzone with Jones wide open and you can't see him? Where is the field vision? 3rd & 2 and he throws it on the ground to end the game? Atrocious.

Knowing the conservative front office we have, McCarthy will stay on through the remainder of the season. We need a new HC and OC. Pettine is performing wonderfully with what he has.

I still am in shock that MM didn't throw that flag on that catch by that Seattle receiver. It was clearly a drop. Who the hell is in charge of telling MM to challenge that? I was screaming at the tv, "throw it throw it" and he didn't. My God if he throws that flag we have a much better chance at winning the game. MM then doubles down on stupid by not going for it on 4th and 2. I was always a big MM supporter but those two decisions were inexcusable. Mm has always been a gambler. It's like he was shell shocked. I wonder if all the fire MM talk has affected his decision making. It sure the hell seems so. Man, what a painful loss that should have been a win with two different decisions by our head coach.

In 2016 I suggested AR to the Browns for 4 ones (they would have done it) add Myles Garrett, Jabril Peppers (or Njoku),Baker Mayfield, Denzel Ward, K King (or potentially TJ Watt), J. Alexander to the Packers the last two years. Could do same deal with Oakland today, and we have the Saints 1 also. 7 first round picks the next 2 years changes the face of this team.
They would do it, as they would have "the big star QB" to carry them into Las Vegas. What has AR done the last 2 years? Nada, really.

You're assuming that the Browns should have taken that trade and that TT would have drafted those players. Alexander was under the minimum height requirements for a TT CB draft pick and without Gute as a GM he would be a Patriot not a Packer. Rodgers continues to tough it out and just doesn't look himself. Part of that could be the injury, rookie WRs, most of it more than likely is MMnot keeping up with the times. NFL caught up to his pick plays and rub routes and the refs now hate GB.

You bet your ass I assume that the Browns would have taken that deal and the Raiders would today. The precise players is not the point...the haul of talent and the opportunity to control it a bargain rate is the point. Take Rodgers commitment off the books along with Cobb and Perry, and this deal would set the Packers up for the next decade.

If/when we lose to Vikings, can we fire MM? What is gained by waiting. Let AR call the plays the rest of the way. Not that I am thrilled with him either but then he won't have an excuse to blame the play calling. Then maybe he will take more responsibility and look in the mirror.

D was badly injured, had nothing left, and MM expected them to make a stop.
Even though AR had some long completions, a number of them were under thrown.
Team has 2 good very tall rookie receivers and AR can't hit them with a lead pass for a slant???????

MM PR - if there was a thought bubble over his head, it would have said "I've lost interest in being here. 6 more games and I am out of here."

At this point I would settle for a game manager QB who make the short throw for a first down rather than always be looking downfield for the big strike. Five sacks on third down? No wonder the team can't sustain drives. This situation is totally out of control, as is the lack of a ground game in the second half. Those long pass plays look pretty when they connect, but it's the less spectacular plays that more often than not win the game.

Does anything good ever happen after a GB timeout? It never seems like they can come up with a play that works. And then they have no timeouts when they need them. Stupid.

That was definitely a phantom penalty on the Davis kick return.

What an unbelievable game from Fackrell. He was single-handedly responsible for giving us a chance to win in the second half, but the AR/MM offense bit us in the ass. You can't blame that third and 2 throw on the last series on any injury--what happened there? The bottom line is Wilson made the plays when his team needed them and AR didn't.

Rodgers has been calling for Jones to get more “touches” and get Jones “more involved”. I think you’ll find that was accomplished. There’s a reason why AR doesn’t tell the media he think jones needs more carries. It’s because AR wants to get Jones more involved by throwing it to him.

Swisch you assume Tonyan will start based off of him showing promise and potential over Lewis, Graham, and Kendericks... Unfortunately, MM is our HC and we'll see TE by committee. Which means A LOT of Graham, quite a bit of Kendericks, a play or 2 by Lewis, and we'll try to remember that 1 good play Tonyan made in 2018 barring injury to the TE position. PLEASE PROVE ME WRONG MM... PRETTY PLEASE. Fans said the same thing for Aaron Jones all of 2017 and 2018.... our throats are raw and our hope's are shot along with our season...

It seems like we've had difficulty getting our receivers open for years (which is part of the reason Rodgers is famous for his extended plays).
Maybe it's not the receivers, but the formations and plays. Plus, perhaps Rodgers has to get the ball out sooner.
It seems we had some good play calls on the first drive of the game and the last drive of the first half -- both of which went for TDs. Otherwise, it seems the play calling was unimaginative.
I don't know who calls our plays during the game, but it seems we need someone else.

There's blame to go on both sides. AR says MM calls the plays except for the last two minutes (when needed). But AR is not throwing the ball short to open receivers that are right in front of him with a lot of space to head upfield. It really makes no sense that a short passing game is not utilized more often. And as mentioned often here and on the broadcast, the receivers don't come back once AR is scrambling for his life. This certainly isn't a quick-release passing offense like New Orleans, anyway.

Our receivers aren't speed burners, but neither was Jerry Rice. Of course it would always be nice to have someone to stretch the field.

Has the quick slant to the slot been outlawed in GB? Overtime it's short yardage they throw that widescreen that very team anticipates. Once again I believe it's the coaching errors and tired old play calls. Special teams penalties were backbreakers. Why is Ron Zook still around? One fake punt conversion does not cut it. Just a poorly coached, undisciplined team.

I have to give MM a pass for not challenging that play it’s easy to call him dumb now but the way some of those calls were going that call could have easily stood but I will blame him for not going for it on 4th and 2 and that is what separates him from the Pedersos,McVays, Reids, Paytons, and even Carrolls of the league he just doesn’t play to win. Pete Caroll went for it on 4th down in the first freaking quarter. Also THAT is how you employ a RB by committee Williams the more physical back got 1 freaking carry in the game. I’m just drained at this point it’s wash, rinse, repeat good win at home deflating loss on the road it’s actually quite pathetic this team doesn’t deserve to make the playoffs since they can’t win on the road this season is over.

Should have been a taunting penalty on Seattle before Mason's missed FG

Adams' 1st big completion of the game was a Rodgers under throw, better throw might have been 6.

Hated the early Mason FG attempt...Packers up 7, driving. Felt like a moment to step on Seattle's neck. McCarthy coached scared late, yes, but also early. He played it the same in the NFC Champ game.

Can someone please loop Benny Hill music over that Penny run?

Tonyan is going to be a good one.

The Tonyan TD happens bc earlier in the drive Rodgers sold out and dove on the sidelines. He may not be playing his best football this year, but I still love his effort and lead-by-example leadership.

Equanimeous' different page makes me miss Jordy's same page.

Another great game from Jaire Alexander and a gutty performance from a secondary down a bunch of guys.

JR Sweezy sounds like a rapper.

Raven Green's pass interference was a pick for Jaire.

Lynard Skynard is to Freebird as Aaron Rodgers is to Too Many Men.

So many calls against the Pack, but how did Clay not get a flag for piledriving Wilson into the turf.

Shitty that FOX didn't show the good angle for Lockett's obvious non-catch until way too late.

Run The Table 2, let's do this.

Good grief. I have never chimed in on fire everyone but how in the world does MM, watching Seattle shredding our tired and depleted defense in the 4th quarter actually think we could get the ball back?
50/50 choice since 2 yards were again impossible to pick up in this game.

Wow, bad penalties on special teams. Calling two timeouts because they couldn't run a play. Stopped using Jones in the second half. A third and short and the only viable receiver running a fly pattern and Adams getting doubled. No place to throw to. These issues have been happening all season long. Even Rodgers is playing poorly. Jones was open for a checkdown on the third down play before the good field goal. Never saw him. Would have been a first down. All that is left is winning out. And how can that happen when these things keep happening?

As much as the D perseveres. Giving up 30 pts avg in the five losses is not good 29 in thee tie.
And the offense is just not tgere to consistently up over the 35 points required.
Blaming refs and injuries is for losers.
Every team has the sameisssues.
Must stay focused on what you can control.
MM has never been able to do that in big games on the road. Should have vpbeen gone after the 2014 debacle

Please identify the "same issues" that the Seahawks had to deal with. Did they?
...get a phantom holding call on a big kick return
...get an obvious 3rd down incompletion overturned
...have a clear pass interference not get called

Meant in general. Not this specific game.
But having said that not being a homer. Those calls weren't egregious just birder line.
The holding call he had hands outside the pads. Easy call
The reception was a catch in my view.
But some even said the obvious block in the back on Jones 19 yd run was phantom.
Upstairs failed on the locket drop.
The supposed pi call was a good no call.
Every team has issues with calls over the season.
Every deals with injuries.
Blaming either is a fools errand.

Sorry, but there has been a consistent pattern of poor officiating - and that's overall, not just a homer view. At the beginning of the year, it was noted that 4 experienced referees had retired, and that officiating quality was a concern. We saw it in preseason, and then in the regular season too. NFL mandates about players not landing on the quarterback made even more difficult for inexperienced referees, and it was clear to me that they were told to simply call it, rather than exercising judgement. The worthless bullsh*t excuses after the MN roughing call on Matthews made it clear they were just trying to cover their asses, and even the competition committee members said that it shouldn't have been called.
The random nature of bad officiating *should* even out for a team, but it hasn't with the Packers this year.

The Seahawks got multiple views for more than a minute to be able to challenge their possession call.

GB *never* had the TV camera view that would have triggered a challenge on that late — and *critical* — completion by SEA until AFTER the next play ran.

That crap ALWAYS happens at home for the Seahawks. ALWAYS...

Question: why is Mike Pereira (who could see that it wasn't a catch right away) able to see the ball on the ground, but we can't see it on the broadcast?
Answer: he has access to all the camera feeds, and can quickly find the one that shows the definitive look. Why doesn't the NFL mandate that both teams also have access to all the camera feeds, so they don't have to rely on the broadcast feed/big board to get a definitive view. If you want to use replay to correct missed calls, but have a system that relies on broadcast, it's a sh*tty system.

Why was Rodgers even passing at all nthe Packers final possession? They needed to burn some clock before scoring or Seattle would have just marched back the other way and won with a 2 minute Drive of their own. With 3rd and two, how does a QB/HC not run Jones twice? If Jones gets skinny and breaks through the short yardage defense, TD baby.

Pathetic, sad and outright disgusting.

Just lost 3 winnable games vs good teams. Petine is taking fackrell and joe shmoe in the secondary and holding it together with duct tape, exceeding expectations while Arodge is allergic to the check down and Tater Mike's offense craps the bed in crunch time calling hail Mary's on 3rd and short.

Got a lot to say, surprisingly good about this team. Maybe tomorrow. Short view, they did not quit, despite being short handed, going into Seattle and trying to steal a game, they all most pull it off. Say what you want about McCarthy, but Rodgers failed to execute. Sometimes just moving the chains is enough, why he kept going for the deep shot when the Packers had the game in hand is a question that needs to be asked. McCarthy may have to go, but he is not the problem here. This season it's Rodgers, it's all on Rodgers. Excuse me, I going out to break something now. (UGH!!!!!!!!)

I want to give McCarthy much credit for consistently getting the Pack to the playoffs during his era -- including a Super Bowl -- but it does seems like it's time for him to go. With a long layoff until the next game, maybe firing him Friday is a good idea. My best to him with another team.
Whoever replaces McCarthy has to assert authority over even Aaron Rodgers. There can only be one coach! Rodgers, I think, has earned the right to voice vigorous opinions during the week in private meetings -- but otherwise has to know his place and let the coach be the coach.
I'm actually not how Rodgers handles his relationship with McCarthy, but am concerned that maybe he steps over the line at times.
It seems to me that Rodgers can continue to be great for a few years to come if he sticks to being quarterback.

What the hell happened to the offense in the second half? Rodgers is looking to go deep to many times in a game, resulting in him holding the ball to long and getting sacked. And why did McCarthy not challenge the obvious no catch? Again, Aaron Jones was not given enough opportunities to run the ball. Those penalties were game killers. Another great kickoff return called back for a holding penalty. McCarthy just doesn't seem to fix any of the problems that plague this team. It's the same old, same old, every game.

Why can't the Packers run on 1st down in the second half
I can't understand why Rodgers misses checkdowns and why slant passes are never used anymore

Good stuff:

-Fackrell was a beast today and our defense kept putting pressure on Wilson throughout most of the game

-Aaron Jones is the real deal. He needs to be getting between 15-18 touches every game because he's a game changer. Love seeing him get involved in the passing game too

-Rodger's throws to both Tonyan and Adams were excellent

Bad stuff:

-Horrible play calling on multiple 3rd and short situations. Does anyone know if MM is calling these plays or if Rodgers is changing the play at the line?

-The injury situation is starting to become concerning

-Rodgers refusal to commit to his checkdowns. There were multiple times tonight where he had guys WIDE open underneath yet refused to throw them the ball. The missed throws were also concerning. I'm not sure that his shoulder is what it was before the injury

-The non-challenge by MM. Obviously, someone in the Packers' booth is in charge of telling the head coach when he should challenge a play. I'm not sure what happened but it was inexcusable that that "catch" was not challenged.

-Aaron Jones was slicing up the Seahawks defense throughout the first half. Pulling him in the second half was, again, inexcusable

Bottom line: The relationship between MM and AR is broken. MM is a very good coach but his time is up in Green Bay. He can no longer control or coach AR and new leadership is needed. I hope the new head coach keeps Pettine onboard because I think he is doing a fine job with a defense that is filled with mostly mediocre players (and a couple of players who were once outstanding but are now on the downward slope of their football career). While I love my Packers, I have 0% confidence in this team making the playoffs this year.

Excellent comments!! This one in particular is the single most important one to me. Can one effnig sports journalist in WI that covers this team actually do some real journalism and find out the answer to this question by asking MM or Arod this question directly to them? It is the single most important issue. Jobs are on the line. People are pointing at MM. If Rodgers is changing the plays than we need to know this. Kind of a big deal.

I tend to think it’s MM and offensive playcalling and schemes. Looking at the routes the receivers and TE run, we aren’t seeing much for crossing routes, curls or other 5-10 yrs stuff, though an occasional RB leaking out for a checkdown.

When Rodgers got paid last offseason and MM didn’t get extended, the writing was on the wall. Maybe a new head coach can get more from this group, much like Pettine has done with the D.

BG has a lot of work to do to revamp the talent though—many positions aren’t championship level yet...

Well said, Jbro. It's so frustrating to watch this offense and what could be if 12 simply took what was available to him. And, I don't know who we hire as HC and QB coach to rein-in that ego.

Remember the off season when Tom Clemens and 12 watched every snap Tom Brady took the previous year? The result was an offense where the ball came out quickly to open receivers, short routes, no huddle, with MM "keeping his foot on the gas." I don't recall the play clock being allowed to run down to single digits much less one second as we seem to do now nearly every play. How do we get that QB back? Who can coach 12? Seems we're in need of a Rodgers Whisperer.

IMO this seasons failures rests on the shoulders of both Mccarthy and Rodgers. Aaron for whatever reason is not playing up to his usual standard. ..it is very obvious to me and im sure to most of us. Mccarthy too often selects the wrong plays at the wrong times during the course of the game. He also does not know how to use the talent he has on the team. Something has to change with this team and im sorry to say it has to start with mm. Im just afraid that we will lose some quality assistant coaches along with the change. But something has too be done.

Does anyone have the stats for the Packers record in games officiated by Tony Collette? Seems every time we go to Seattle we get him and, well, lose. He screwed us earlier this season as well on the Matthews sack play. He was our 2015 championship game official, and last night was a lot of phantom crap.

You have to expect to get the sh#t end of the stick when in Seattle so
yes, the ref’s called a biased game, again. Collette will not be on the SB
squad. One might also notice that Carroll spends as much time on the playing field beaking at the ref’s as he does behind the line.
I agree with Bilichick’s take that every call could/should be challenged and
plays like the incomplete pass to Lockett could have been looked at from the definitive angle in reasonable time and the proper call made. (I believe
the CFL employs this practice successfully.)

That said, the Packers still handed the game to the S’Hawks by the way of
boneheaded penalties and wasting timeouts due to late substitutions.
That latter falls on McCarthy and Philbin. (Pardon the pun)

Aaron Rodgers is “brutificent” – equal parts brutal and magnificent. And the end result is pedestrian. Yet as I type this I’m reading at CBS Sports that “Aaron Rodgers is still amazing.” Rather than puking up the same ol’ annoying hero worship of NFL quarterbacks, isn’t it time for media folks to actually start wondering if maybe – just maybe – the Emperor ain’t got no pants?

LOL. Tonyan has caught one huge pass in his entire NFL career. This means that he is currently one-half as accomplished as Jeff Janis. Let’s not anoint him as The Promised One just yet. At this point, it’s a stretch even to say that he is certainly a capable backup.

Just because the offense is atrocious doesn’t mean the defense is awesome. There is more than enough blame here for the defense to take its share.

Although I fully agree that McCarthy deserves a ton of criticism, it’s hard for me to be too critical about not throwing the red flag. We don’t know what replays were available to the coaching staff before the next play began. I myself did not see anything BEFORE the next play that led me to think the call would be overturned. If he had challenged and lost, he would have blown his last time out.

Dear Kyler: I was wrong. And rude. And I’m sorry. Nick Perry, anything you want to say about that before you leave?

He wasn’t even remotely great, and he’s not going to save our season anyway, but there is a noticeable difference with Trevor Davis fielding kicks and punts.

Stop blaming the refs. That’s weak.

Last one out please turn off the lights. Barring a miracle, this year is over.

I agree with almost everything you wrote except for the comment on the defense. They have done enough in every game this season for the team to win. It's the offense (more specifically, the passing offense) that has shit the bed countless times and cost us every loss we've had this season. Pettine is getting the most out of a defense that is filled with (mostly) mediocre talent and some aging players who are past the prime years of their football careers. Also, I'm not going to blame the refs on the loss but a few of those calls against us were just BAD!

So many times, #33 is wide open, uncovered out of the backfield and #12 refuses to look his way.
He's always looking at #17 on 3rd downs & he is always doubled....so he's covered initially....#12 waits & gets sacked.

Jones is like Alvin Kamara, except Brees is smart enough to realize what a weapon Kamara is as a receiver. Our QB simply doesn't understand. Even the TD pass he did throw to Jones, it was 5 yards too far to the inside, making it a tough catch.

The bomb up the left sideline to Adams, it was underthrown by 3-5 yards, which kept it from being a touchdown.

Also had Adams deep 1-on-1 vs good ILB Wagner, and #12 threw a flutterer out of bounds so Adams catch was no good.

EQ had a ball thrown to him across the middle when he was open, and the pass was late or 5 yards behind him. Rodgers pissed & bitched at EQ.
For what? Getting open? Running past his defender? That was the play design & he got open. Rodgers thinks EQ should stop there, and let the CB catch up? I'm tired of 12 whining. Throw better.

Rodgers final pass was fitting. A simple, short key 3rd & 2 throw into the dirt. A good playcall too.
Hundley may even have been able to have completed that one.

Last night we got stupid.

Penalties, blown timeouts, missed FG, McCarthy going AWAY from Aaron Jones in the 2nd half....and the cherry on top was punting on 4th and 2.

Congratulations, Mike. Each week you show us another page from The Stupid Book. Stay tuned next week to see what else he's got up his sleeve.

Too many bad penalties, again.
Too little Aaron Jones, again.
Too many injuries, as usual.
On our final series, I would have run Jamaal Williams on the 3rd and 2 rather than Rodgers throwing the ball into the ground. That pass looked like it was off someone's hand or helmet. If Williams doesn't make it go for it on 4th down rather than punt.

This team plays like they are looking for their players for next season. So far they have found Alexander, Fackrell, maybe Tonyan and Brown. They are still looking for their safeties. Did Oren Burks play last night?

Put Perry or IR and then chuck him, take the cap hit. Let Fackrell play out the season. He has fresh legs and he wreaks havoc in the opponents backfield.

Seattle remains the Packers House of Horrors. Thanks, Since '61

I'm glad to read through the intriguing and insightful comments as a kind of therapy for the third tough loss in the last four games. Ughhhhh! Rrrrrr!
Perhaps the most important takeaway is that maybe, just maybe, Aaron Rodgers has to learn that being a great quarterback with multiple championships (a la Bart Starr and Tom Brady) is not only about the spectacular plays, but has a lot to do with the little things. A paradox of winning football seems to be that if Rodgers gets the short passing game clicking, and hands off to Aaron Jones more often, the longer plays will open up more often -- and a seemingly talented offense will find its groove.
Perhaps there's even time for this season as far as making the playoffs. As horrible as it feels now, two or three convincing wins could really turn the mood around.
It may be good to try for a surge down the stretch without McCarthy, if there's an interim coach around who could maintain some continuity while making a few key changes, and could infuse a sense of confidence to ignite a general enthusiasm.

Firing McCarthy is the cheap and easy out. It may come to that, but not till after the season. Besides we all know what the problem is on this offense. Rodgers, it's all Rodgers. How many RPOs did McCarthy call did Rodgers check out of? Aaron Jones not touching the ball more than 15 times, that's on Rodgers. Firing McCarthy won't solve that problem. At some point Gute has to have a 'session' with QB1, and tell him he is killing this team.
