Gut Reactions: Redskins 31 Packers: 17

Aaron Nagler gives his gut reactions to the Packers loss in Washington.

  • The NFL continues to be an absolute joke
  • Way, way too many drops.
  • Safety play is suboptimal.
  • I don't know what the question is, but I know Kentrell Brice is not the answer.
  • Good to see Kyler Fackrell getting more snaps to show how incompetent he is.
  • Worst game from Randall Cobb in forever.
  • Aaron Jones looked great. Good thing they didn't give him the ball.
  • This was a classic "Mike McCarthy doesn't have his team up" loss.
  • Speaking of which, good thing they didn't practice on Wednesday!
  • That Clay Matthews roughing the passer penatly was god awful.
  • This Washington team couldn't score 10 points on a bad Colts defense last week, just FYI
  • McCarthy not getting thrown out is a positive.
  • One the whole, just an embarrassment of an afternoon.
  • That said, it's Week 3 and nothing means anything.
  • Nick Perry is getting paid a lot of money not to get to the quarterback.
  • I need a drink.
  • Go Pack.

That sucked. And the refs were absolutely awful. The defense didn't decide to start playing until the 2nd half.

That said, it looks like both the Packers and the Vikings wore each other out last week and neither of the teams were ready to play this week.

Hoping this was the "game we should not have lost" by the end of the year. That defense needs to be better and MM needs to just play Aaron Jones. Period.

Hope Bulaga and Mo are all right.

Except that this has happened too many times. Not prepared for the game and play reasonably in 2nd half but come up short.

If this team only wins with AR playing well, that means no drops!!!!!

This defense isn't going to do it as they are.

No, I don't think that's it.

They have pass rush issues - but not that this seems to matter, as QB's now should just have flags on them.

The secondary is young. Cobb had a very bad game. And MM needs to just play Aaron Jones.

There's plenty of promise for this season yet. It's just week 3.

Taryn,

I wish you well as a person, but myself, and dozens of other posters here at CHTV, would enjoy ourselves more if you went the route of Donald Trumps and Cow.

You aren't a Packer fan. You're a troll who lives to say "I told you so." And then, when you are wrong 80% of the time, you turn into a martyr. You are the worst kind of troll.

Seriously. Just. Go. Away. Why are you even here except to be a contrarian?

Go. Away.

I can't leave...I'm the best fan because I don't ignore what is seen weekly and now for seasons on end.
You on the other and a few others are what's wrong with a fan blog. The blind optimism is a severe fault. How many times does a door need to hit in in the face before you realize your going in the wrong way.
The fact that you wish so hard for me to leave is proof that you and others cannot endure the toilet level play of the Packers and I simply remind of it.
You and others can get rude, call me names but I 'll never go away. I am a true fan and true fans don't wish others away due to criticism but relish the criticism to become better.
Besides, haven't you on many, many occasions stated you will not respond to me.
It's OK, i get it, you know I'm right but find it hard to say. Your tough guy persona is safe...I think...because I'm calling you a wussy troll fan of the team you love because you hate what you see in them and can't accept it. : )

Patriots lost, Vikings lost, Jags lost And the Packers lost. Who gives a crap that only a Packers loss is the end of the world to you. I do care that the Bears are in first. It’s early, they’ll be okay. I had a great day at the berry farm with my family. Didn’t miss a thing. Grow up.

The Packers losing is far from the end of my world. I think you have me confused with those who make excuses weekly and yearly for any loss. That tells me they are far more bothered than I am since I accept what I see...they do not. I also don't get bat shit crazy when some one points out the teams well know and easily viewed faults.
Have fun at the farm every time you go and if wish to miss the games..fine. But because I watch them you assume I'm not having fun and enjoying myself..win or lose. Wow!

We can't beat the Redskins on the road. The road games against the Rams, Patriots, Bears , Vikings should be harder games than the Skins...... well, except maybe the Queens? Lol

As we were giving up 28 first half points, I was yelling to fire Capers, but then I remember that we did...

Let's get Reid, please?

Nice catch, Kendricks (and Cobb) !

Took 2.5 games for Bulaga to get hurt

I am now on the replace MM bandwagon

Sucks about Mo Wilkerson, although he didn't look like a world beater we were all hoping for

Does Nick Perry still play for us? Haven't seen him

You know, in the 1st half, I'd agree with you. But the 2nd half, the defense balled out overall. 3 points. That's progress. The offense in the 2nd half, and especially Cobb, was atrocious.

The talent level and scheme on defense isn't world-beating. But it is better. Dom needed to go.

I do agree that Dom's time had ended in GB. My point is at this level of game it's 90% mental for the players. So where in the hell were their heads in the first half. Regardless, this has been a constant problem on the defensive side no matter who is DC. (Excuse me, I gotta go blow something up....:)

As for the second half, by my quick count, Washington passed 9 times and ran 12. 14 runs if you count the two kneel-downs. Washington got very conservative in the second half.

You., sir, are making sense. The Redskins used the clock by running and Smith was using the middle of the field for an occasional pass, exposing the linebackers and safeties. The refs helped out at critical points and Peterson was effective. McCarthy was out-coached and the team outplayed. This rebuilding program will take awhile. Rodgers looked pissed all second half. At least the game was outside and on turf. The NFL is broken and if Packers fans are turned off, that’s an indication of how out of whack the league is.

Rebecca can you blame Rodgers for looking pissed? Defense put them in a whole in the 1st half. Multiple dropped passes. Ref didn't turn off his mic and you could hear Rodgers say I don't normally ask for a flag but the guy ran my head into the ground. Yet there were multiple questionable flags against the Packers and not called against the Redskins. I was/am pissed/disappointed as a fan.

Indeed bearmeat. Although, I'm shocked that we really don't have enough DL to run a base. I realize teams can kinda take other teams out of the base but still. Maybe after Perry's and Clay's contracts get dumped. Who knows. Second half they played well, but man, this offense is slow starting.

Pettine adjusts at the half...Capers never did...he just stubbornly plowed along with constant substitutions, exotic looks and confused his own players.

I am concerned about the safety play, however. Pettine needs to acknowledge the Brice experiment is OVER. Josh Jones can't be any worse in coverage. And it may be time to try Tramon at S and bench HHCD. Man he's a timid tackler now. I question his passion for the game...in a contract year, no less!

DOM is NOT smiling...he is LHAO!
Clearly we have ZERO safeties, ZERO rush and BELOW AVERAGE LBs.

Also, IF the strategy on Offense is to hold the ball forever and look for whomever breaks free, our OL will require an overhaul. ( I read Tom Brady comments that if AROD had NE playbook, Pack would be a scoring machine)

To that point, wasn't Philbin re-designing the plays and creating exciting game plans to improve on MM and Bennett's predictable, stale offense? Gee--the WR screens are still predictable and remain incredibly painful to watch.

Finally Taryn is NOT a troll--she has some great comments and l did not realize that the posting rules are limited to endless praise for the players, the coaching staff and the management.

It's hard to go on the road and beat the Redskins. We got scalped in this game let's be honest. The only bigger defeat was probably suffered under General George Custer. This was McCarthy's last stand and he fell to the ground. At least MM didn't go down without a fight. Loved his passion on the sidelines after the Matthews hit. I was proud of him even in defeat.

Dear NFL:

10 years ago, I watched 9 hours of football on Sunday, and 3 hours on Monday. Every week. This week, I watched the Packers game. I'm sitting at home with not much to do now, but I refuse to turn on whatever game is on TV next. I will be watching no other games this weekend. Your competition committee's BS has forced my hand. I hope millions of die-hard viewers like me feel the same.

Your product now sucks. Your "rules" are so arbitrarily enforced that I'm seriously wondering if outcomes are fixed. The NFL has a consistency problem. You are interested in the appearance of safety so that you can deny legal liability and keep printing money 20 years from now in case it is proven that CTE is a direct result of football activities.

But NFL players today KNOW what the risks are. And they are making a very good living taking those risks. 30 years ago you cannot make that case.

So, the NFL decides they want to be tough on safety rules especially as it pertains to quarterbacks. They want points so fantasy football fans are happy. What they lose in the process is the Integrity of the game as it was designed and hardcore football fans that butter their bread and have for 50 years.

EFF YOU NFL. EFF YOU BUDDY.

Bearmeat, this is a grand slam of a comment. Completely knocked it out of the park.

The idiocy and the reasons for it. Completely unvarnished.

And as the grand finale...

The solution.

Shut it down.

I am a 55+ year devotee to the NFL. Right up until today.

I quit.

I will not spend anoither penny or tune in a single broadcast ever again.

I will check out the Packer scores. I am a fan of the franchise and have been forever, but the overall product can just kiss my ass. Im done until Goodell is gone and the game returns to something resembling respectable sporting competition.

I have better football to watch on Saturdays and much better things to do with my time on Sundays.

Peace, out, mic drop...

It was a very nice fall day in WI to go out riding the Hog all afternoon.

DVR’ed the game. Just got done watching it. Not fun. Very frustrated at
1. The officiating/qb rules enforcement
2. The mistakes (dropped passes, penalties)
3. Injuries (Bulaga and Mo)

I wonder if next weekend will provide more good riding weather.

We started out pretty awful and just went downhill from there.

Both the Packers and the Viqueens had a ton of money placed on them to win this week and they both lost badly, especially the Queens at home. Both teams were also were trying to come back from at OT game and neither team had anything left for today's game.

I'll guess that LVT had both games right.

I gave you a "Thumbs Up" for your optimism but I don't agree. This team is in a HEAP of trouble and with a hobbled Rodgers, and Mike "I'm a highly successful Head Coach" (Just ask me) McCarthy they'll have trouble with any team with a SEMI competent QB and 500 record or better.

The Packers were totally unprepared to play week one in the first half and completely unprepared this week. I no longer just want to make the playoffs with no realistic shot at winning the SB. I would much rather miss the playoffs altogether, get the higher draft pick and hopefully a HC who when he overhauls the playbook he actually OVERHAULS the playbook. Has anyone seen a single thing different?

Right now, yeah they would. What matters is winning the games you should win. They blew this one today. But the next 3 are very very winnable. Going into the bye at 4-1-1 should be ok.

Yeah, the injuries are concerning. And MM is frustrating sometimes. But I remain convinced that he is a good head coach. Not a HOF head coach, but a good one. I think the frustration with him is mostly a product of knowing your spouse's faults intimately. He's been here a long time.

Bearmeat, are you serious about going 4-1-1? The Packers are playing the Bills next week, a team that put up 27 points against a great defense at Minny. Then Detroit who is currently beating New England? After giving up 31 points to Washington, a team that scored 9 points at home last week? 4-1-1-? Seriously? With what defense? House? Fackrell? Brice? Tramon? There is no defense, there is Packers HC that won't let Aaron Jones play, there is no offensive playbook that the other teams don't have a copy of. I give the Packers a win against SF but ONLY because Garoppolo may have a torn ACL. And as I post every week, the Packers' defense makes every average QB look like a future HOFer.

Our record is 1-1-1. There are 13 games left to play. This was an abysmal performance by key vets, and by those who have no business being on the field in the first place (Brice, Fackeral).

For the fire MM crowd, I ask who would do a better job? Remember the wailing when we didn't pursue Gruden? He's lighting it up in Oakland, right? Mike Tomlin's soon to be 0-3 in Pittsburgh. Does he suck as a coach, too? MM will right the ship and lead. This "he's not doing his job he needs to go" mentality speaks to our impatience. Successful programs have stability. Patience. The talent is there offensively. As Larry McCarren often reminds us, the other guys get paid, too. Washington was humiliated at home last week. They played well enough to win today. So be it.

We need safety help. Eric Reid could help our secondary. I have no answers for our linebackers, but as a unit I think this D is playing better than Capers group.

Most frustrating to me is how unenjoyable it has become to watch this team I love. I don't expect a win every time out, nor total domination of opponents. Unfortunately that crisp offensive play I was hoping for has only shown itself a few times. The officiating leaves much to be desired. The TV packaging and narrative is intrusive and irritating.

Finally, I agree in that being a fan doesn't have to mean blind loyalty. I think it's also fair to recognize how much we Packers fans have come to take for granted since 1992. If you'd watched through the 70s and 80s, you'd understand. Today was frustrating, for sure. On to next week! The Packers will always be my team.

Well '61, we all knew that kind of game performance was coming today. NFL sets these teams up for failure with the way the league office manipulates the game times. Still, I'm amaze at the greatness of Aaron Rodgers. Despite everything, he had this offense in position to win this game. Just catch the damn ball, and the pack is position to steal a win in a tough away game. How many points did Brice cost the team today due to his mental brain farts? Burrentt or Hyde? neither would have cost in the current market and Brice would be back to playing on special teams, where his physical gifts would be a major plus. This one on Ted and GUTE period. Oh, and would someone please tell Randall Cobb, these are the games which makes or breaks your upcoming free agency? (SIGH) Burn the tape man. BURN THE TAPE.........

Since 61, Contrary to what you posted, I didn't play any games today or tonight. I have more pressing issues to deal with, & I'm pretty much done with Football. I didn't post anything before this game, but I did agree with Taryn. I was 98% sure GB would not cover this game. It amazes me that GB can't seem to cover a 2 - 2 1/2 Pt. spread, unless it's the Pats or someone stronger. It also amazes me how Las Vegas wins these games. I guess that's why they are in the sports betting business. I think the best team won today, but there were a few flags that kept the game going in the right direction. I wish I knew how that works. I can't see the games like I used to. I'm thinking maybe Fantasy Football is figuring into this somehow. That's just my opinion, but something is different. I posted some weeks ago that Sports Caster ("Bob Costus") ?, said NFL Football would soon change into something you won't believe. He didn't say what, but he seems to be ahead of the curve.

LVT - however it works we can point to at least a few games a week that Las Vegas cashes in on. It does seem like the refs know exactly when to throw their flags especially against CM3. I'm thinking that they have him targeted.
I always thought that roughing took place after the ball was in the air. No longer true apparently. I watched NO hit Matt Ryan in their game against ATL today and not one flag was thrown. Getting worse every week. Thanks, Since '61

Man - feel decidedly badly about this game today. How many times do we have to see our team coming out uninspired while the opposition plays with their hair on fire?

Lots of negatives to this game, but the high amount of injuries might be the most concerning.

On a more positive note, the defense did seem to come around a bit in the second half.... didn’t do much good, but I’m looking for a silver lining somewhere!

Hope there’s some serious soul-searching in GB this week.

PS - Thank goodness for the Vikings loss

They came out flat and unfocused and the receivers other than Allison stayed that way.

For once I agree with you. This team looked lackadaisical from the start. This time, however, the D looked worse than the offense in the first half. They showed us what they could do in the second again, but for goodness sake, stop playing half games!

On top of that it looks like we may have lost Wilkerson. Bulaga has a bad back too.

What particularly irritated me is that it looked to me as if we could have run the ball on them all day if we had not got so far behind.

As to Peteson, we look like we need to draft in a runstuffer D line man for near end game run blocking. Though Lowry held up well in place of Wilkerson.

Some of those pass interference penalties were so ticky tacky (except those on House). The Matthews roughing penalty was simply farcical. It wasn’t game changing like last week because we got the stop, but it is killing the fun in watching D.

Overall, the referees has a dreadful and one-sided performance (think slam on Rodgers and Peterson TD as well as holding imbalance). This league needs to replace Riveron and clean up it’s act. Getting to the point of ridiculousness.

Brice looks raw. Does most things right but naivety is killing his instincts at the last minute. We need a cover safety—not Reid or any other box type so that he can spend time learning. At this point I would consider bringing back Pipkins and moving Williams as soon as King is back.

House looks like he has completely lost confidence. I have supported him for depth, and I know he has an arm injury, but got to trust yourself enough not to hold the whole route or you should not be out there.

Sloppy performance by the O. Half a game by the D. No excuses exist for the coaches or most of the players for the first half, but terrible officials and rules just taking the whole game down on top of everything just leaves me with a sour taste. Second week where NFL football left me feeling like the game is turning into a joke.

Rebecca agreed blaming the officials is getting old. It'll be nice if we didn't feel the need to. It was the Packers not the officials that lost the game. It's just frustrating that the refs are making it even harder.

I laughed hard when the half time reporter said that Mcnutsack said "we need to play with more leverage on defense". Something tells me thats not going to solve this shit storm. But hes a highly successful football coach, so what do I know. I do know that ive honestly never been happier with MM than when he lost it on this weeks bullshit Matthews call. At this point it would be nice for Perry to get close enough to get a bullshit penalty.
I said weeks ago I thought this roster sucked. It is terrible. And got worse today. Thanks for the memories Muhammad, we hardly knew you.
How terrible did Josh Jones look in preseason to not be ahead of brice on the depth chart?

Brice may yet develop. Jones may yet get on the field. Neither is ready yet to play cover safety. Dix is better in that role. Yet Pettine seems to play the two in interchangeable roles. If so, we need to use Williams there. This week King was out, so not possible probably. Need additional CB depth too if we do: Pipkins?

Think we also need a runstuffing O line for obvious runs. Hopefully Wilkerson will not turn out to be a loss, but they took him to the hospital. If he is, Lowry played well and maybe someone like Brian Price is still available who has some experience.

Finally, Fackrell is just awful. I’d rather risk Donnerson blowing assignments than watch Fackrell be blown off them.

Brice sucks. First round combine numbers, UDFA skills. And since hitting in the NFL is now illegal, the one skill he had is negated.
Jones worries me. Hes hurt (surprise) but in preseason he wasn't considered a starter or preferred option at either position he was projected to play, and both positions suck.
I'll be amazed if Wilkerson isn't on IR. Such an ugly defense. Again. Today the offense didn't look any better.

This D is lacking players at key positions. OLBs can't sniff the QB, except occasionally Clay making the refs mad. The safeties are Lost In Space. The ILBs are slow and even Martinez can't bring someone down in his tracks. The O is as bad as the D. Play calling is ancient. WRs and TEs slow. OL a sieve, and Rodgers holding the ball too long. I'm watching the Saints. Their D is awful, but Michael Thomas and Kamara open on every play. Mack doesn't know how to get our receivers and backs that open. He needs to watch Saints film. Bad team at the moment. Guys should be benched or cut. New blood brought in at safety and OLB.

Short underneath throws to take away the pass rush would have allowed GB to move the ball. That and feeding Jones. But the team always holds on too long and o line had no choice but to hold long enough to get the ball to Cobb who drops it

Hard to stick with run after falling behind by 14 before the 1st quarter ended. D gave up 325 yds in first half... (Amazingly only 61 in the second). But run game did work. Too bad the Packers favored throwing to Cobb which did NOT work. Here is a pearl of wisdom - when something works, stay with it until it doesn't.

IDK, if you're down 14-0 after the first quarter, the most important thing is to get on the scoreboard. If running the ball is working, then run the ball in the 2nd quarter. There is plenty of time left.

We only ran the ball 4 times in the second half. At some point if you're down 3 possessions a team will have to stop relying on the run. That probably isn't in the early third quarter though. The thing is, at no point did we rely on the run or give it a fair chance.

You are so right, you have 2 backs averaging over 5 yards a carry and you stop!!! Yeah I think its on both MM and AR, lets be honest as great is por is to keep the defense honest, it doesn't work if its pass all the time. Sorry this narrative of if you're behind, pass your way back, means nothing with 3/4 of the game left. When they got with-in one score earlier in the third, it was a perfect time to try the run game again. WHats worse I think I read by TGR comment we still somehow won the TOP is that game. So TGR a quick request, can you tell how many games do we win when Rodgers attempts 40 or more passes. I know I can look it up, but I'm afraid of what I will find.

Why should I sit inside on a lovely fall day to watch a game with such idiots making the rules. IDK, maybe I'll decide if I care enough to watch this trash after MLB is done. Pettine is not on the field blowing coverages and is still feeling out who can play and who can't. I was curious to see if anyone was going to be held accountable and was happy to see Pettine pull Brice for Whitehead to start the second half. Pettine also made some adjustments at half and the Skins only scored 3 points the entire half. Unfortunately the offense was completely inept and could not overcome the defense's poor first half.

I'll say it - Rodgers is now an above average QB - These young QBs are running circles around him - Other than the TD to Allison he threw all check downs. Nothing down field - he never finds open WRs down field like other QBs do - what happened to the Graham factor (or non-factor?) Rodgers is a very good game manager now - we need a defense and a running game to go with him and we have neither.

PS - He went 4 and out during garbage time!!! That should tell you everything.

Paxbak the reasons the "young QBs are running circles around Rodgers" is because they have 2 healthy legs to run on. The only impressive young QB so far is a second year player Mahomes who has Kelce, Hill and Hunt. The KC playbook is miles ahead of GB's. Put Rodgers in the KC offense and put Mahomes in GB and let's see who is better.

Alexander is not that great vs. Ridley. We should have Ridley AND Hughes (even better than Alexander). Add Trumaine Johnson’s veteran leadership and we have a winning team.

Now we have bottom third defense and SLOW WR corps. Great team building! Nothing but excuses!

Terrible in all three phases: offense doesn't work anymore, defense is STILL a sieve, and long snapping was off--lucky not a get a punt attempt botched. We need a competent safety in the worst way. Also need to cut bait with some of these notoriously ineffective defensive players; they're never going to get any better. Raid other teams' practice squads to replace them. And if the front office wants to save the season, they may want to consider doing something drastic. Overreaction to one game? I don't think so. We've seen this sort of thing for too long now.

ARI passing up the 61-yard field goal? Guess their coach doesn't come from the MM coaching tree. Hail Mary coming up. Nope. Chicago wins. Geez, I stopped watching WWW when I was 12.

Three defensive pass interference calls on the same drive is utterly ridiculous!! Those calls ended up giving the Redskins first and goal from the one. And the game went down hill from there. A holding call against Bulaga that cost a first down at the Redskins 11 yard line was another stupid mistake. In all there were 10 or 11, I lost count, penalties against the Packers for 115 or more yards. Another roughing the passer against Matthews. With all the bad officiating complaints it makes me wonder why the refs called so many penalties against the Packers and many at the worst time possible,. Four penalties alone in the first quarter!! This was a horrible game. Why wasn't Jones being used more? He was getting good rushing yardage. Why so many dropped passes? Why wasn't the team prepared to play? They started out sluggish again. I don't see much improvement on the defense. By half time the Packers gave up way to many yards in the air!! And a lot on the ground as well. Only good thing is the Vikings fell to the Bills. As I stated last week, never, ever, take your opponent lightly. Apparently McCarthy did. He did not have the team prepared to play the Redskins. Another ugly game.

3 PI penalties on one drive does seem like a lot. OTOH, there is a certain symmetry: House committed three penalties on a single play: illegal contact, defensive holding and pass interference.

As a Packers fan I always want the Packers to do well. BUT I no longer want Mike McCarthy coaching the Packers. Sure there was a ton of mistakes made by the Packers, but this coaching staff and McCarthy in particular just aren't very good.

The play calling is either bad or MM can’t reel Rodgers in. Either way Something needs to change.

Don't agree Nick. Sorry- but the passes should have been caught. The Rbs looked Good/ even great. A-Rod held onto the ball to long. (Especially if you compare the bears game to this. ) The packers just don't have the personal to play the 3-4-4. Again we saw Perry playing DL instead of lB. (Make him a DE again. ( because thats how he's playing) Morrison is bad. Brice has gotten to far behind with his injuries. This team needs better safety play. The refs are picking on CMII. House is done. This team was flat and they will get MM canned. For years we wanted LBs taken. They chose Wrs. The money isn't there. And people are playing accordingly. Why was Kendricks in on 3rd down and not Graham and Lewis? The packages sent onto the field, I'm having a problem with. Allison should not be rewarded as great WR. It was a busted play and these guys need to stop holding.

Team didn’t play good today at all. Rodgers did well but the lack of mobility has affected his game. Plus the team should have ran with Jones more. Drops killed the pack today and were crucial in loss. Officiating sucked but pack had their chances and blew it. Overall need a new safety and a pass rusher or season could be over. Brice has no right on the team blaming others for his failures today. When you don’t play good take accountability you don’t blame your coach for your lack of awareness. We have picks we can trade to upgrade our roster and might be the time before we get in a hole we can’t get out of.

Looks like Mark Murphy's new front office structure isn't working very well. Probably the first place for the Executive Committee to start in rebuilding this franchise into a playoff contender again.

Watching this game was like chewing broken glass.

We don't know what a catch is anymore.

We don't know what a tackle on a QB is anymore.

Be it the silly roughing the passer calls, McCarthy not having his team ready to play and a general failure of anyone on defense doing anything, this was unacceptable.

Even if this team wakes up from it's slumber later on, let's remember we have the #1 ranked strength of schedule that includes a brutal stretch vs. the Rams and Patriots back-to-back.

Despite that, we SHOULD beat Buffalo, Lions and Jimmy Garoppolo-less 49ers before the bye week, but my confidence took a major dive today after seeing this trash.

This team has a very, very long way to go.

Never thought I’d see the day Alex Smith throwing more downfield passes than Aaron Rodgers. Why all the dumpoff passes that Kiser can be out there throwing. Rodgers rarely targeting Adams or Geronimo downfield. I thought it was his leg injured, not his arm. Let Kizer play as he can throw 5-7 yard passes and AR vacant fully heat up.

Kizer can throw 5-7 yard passes?

The last one he threw was thrown both short and behind the intended target, and resulted in a pick-6 to Khalil Mack.

Do not expect Kizer to throw 5-7 yard passes without creating a river of Packers' fan tears.

I am speechless. Clay is just getting crapped on by the refs. I am not saying that it would have changed the outcome today. There were just too many mistakes. Early season Packers.....Sigh.

CM3 is a marked man. I believe the league, especially the officials, are looking to make an example of him.

Couldn't agree more. I think the refs are pissed at all the complaints of the bad officiating in the Minnesota game and are targeting Matthews and the Packers because of those complaints.

Packers could always do what the Bills just did. Packers had a bad game against a mediocre team. We've sent that year after year. The hard part will be overcoming injuries.

Lots of drops but a lot of miss throws by Rodgers also. Still starting so slow on offense. Williams runs for 10 yards and a first down and the they don’t run after that. Jones has 7 yards a carry but only gets 6 carries?!! It’s crazy!! ITonyan needs to play at TE. Stop targeting Cobb so much if he cant catch the ball.

"It's week 3 and nothing means anything." -Thank you for pointing that out. We have games like this every year. Might be a different outcome without all the drops and stupid penalities. Eventually maybe our coaches will stop trying to play zone defenses on 14 year vets. Other than that, this game will prove to be an anomaly as the season writes it story. The Vikings were dismantled by the Bills who are so bad a player on their defense retired at halftime last week. The Jags, who a week ago handled the Pats, lost to the Titans. Any given Sunday, just turns out that today was said Sunday.

Our “highly successful NFL head coach” seemingly hasn’t figured out what scrubbing the play book means. Other teams have figured HIM out, but he can’t figure it out for himself. Go figure...

I hope his seat is getting hotter by the week!

Mismanagement 101
1. Not bringing back Lang or Tretter. Moving up in the draft to get Spriggs. Fail repeat the course!
2. Not drafting a pass rusher or linebacker prospects in how many drafts? Fail repeat the course!
3. Dix and Brice are terrible and when King goes down their backups for him Stink! Fail repeat the course!

The Packers are in trouble!

y'all, nothing is changing until 31 owners' bottom lines change. these dudes don't speak any other language but $.
example: I make really good brownies for a few years that make me a multi millionaire. but if I make just as much after substituting mud and dog crap for the main ingredients, what motivation do I have to change the recipe?

44 pass plays and only 15 run plays....even as Jones, Williams, and Monty were getting 7, almost 6 and 4 yards respectively.

MM: "We will run the ball, establish the run game, and be a more balanced attack this year blah, blah, blah."

The Packers looked like they were not ready to play...at least Pettine got his guys to wake up for the 2nd half. The O was sleepy the entire game. Maybe practicing is of value after all. MM doesn't practice with intensity and skips a lot of them. He's soft and so is his offense.

I am still hoping Pettine can get a consistent D on the field. Hot and cold. Tale of two halves for 3 games.
