Gut Reactions: Packers fall to Vikings

Aaron gives his gut reactions to the Packer loss to the Vikings.

  • No idea why Joe Barry thought playing dial-a-coverage was a good idea vs Jefferson
  • I'm still trying to live in a world where Christian Watson caught that first pass.
  • AJ Dillon seemed to be the only dude playing with some heart today.
  • Romeo Doubs did some nice things but still looked like a rookie at times.
  • Preston Smith would have had two sacks if Cousins doesn't get the ball out of hands in a timely fashion. 12 should take note.
  • Why didn't Zach Tom start? He's clearly one of the best five.
  • Rashan Gary had a nice play on the sack...and was never heard from again.
  • Hey, Jordan Love got some snaps. Dope.

Credit to the Vikings, they completely outplayed and outcoached us. It's a long season but man does it feel terrible to watch these disastrous openers.

Also, injuries to JRJ, Walker, and Barnes? Awesome.

I'm glad Jones was used as a decoy first half, 1-2 punch and all that. Yes, Tom now has a job after watching Runyan skate all day, especially on the 1 yard line. One guy to stop and they go soft zones, where have we seen that before?

Wasn't this just a replay of what happened last year with the Saints? An intelligent person learns from their mistakes don't they? Or "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me!" And people wonder WHY MLF hasn't made Coach of the Year? This is the very reason. His starters looked confused, slow and ill prepared. Would have 1 or 2 quarters in the pre-season have hurt them? From the looks of those games... Yes, MLF "you (I) should have been better!" Poor, poor strategic coaching!

Oh wait..... maybe not?

Last season the Packers got smacked in the mouth by the saints and made it to the post season and a division title. Its the first game of the season, the Packers have an opportunity to grow. The season is not lost.

I know the game was essentially over, but what is it with the 4 and 1 with 3:45 to go, and Rodgers goes EZ. Literally put the nail in the coffin.

Watching the Minnesota NFL franchise win their Super Bowl was an unpleasant way to spend an afternoon; shot a pretty nice weekend right in the ass.

Eric Stokes couldn’t cover Justin Jefferson in college, as a rookie, and still can’t cover him in 2022. Why are the Packers asking him to do so?

It always sucks to lose to the Lombardi Trophyless NFL team from Minnesota, but there is no reason to panic. It’s one game (denial is a powerful coping mechanism). No, really, it’s only one game!

If the Packers fail to show up against the mighty Norris Division-leading Bares next week, then we all must light our torches, storm 1265 and demand firings. Because, you know, firing is the answer. Always.

Special teams? Improved!

Fail.

One lack of concentration by Watson on a deep ball should not eliminate trying again. Too much speed to discount. Fail

D should've played man-to-man. Not 8-10 yards off the WR. This was supposed to be one of the best secondary's. Fail

Goal and one should have be an outside zone or pitch run to Dillon. Not up the back side of O linemen with little to no push or experience. They did later on the touchdown. Too late. Fail.

Deep pass to Cobb because of "trust" is again wrong decision. We've seen it too many times. He's not tall enough for jump type ball. "Trust" Pass to Tonyan double covered. Fail

Rodgers again holding the ball instead of throwing away. Sack. Fail.

Down two scores with minimal time left and not taking shots deep. Fail.

Oline needs sorted. No more Hanson. No more Newsom. Key reason for loss. Big Fail.

Is the defense as good as it has been hyped? Absolutely, NOT! They were not prepared for this game AS USUAL. Did they make the opposing QB look like a future HOFer? Yes, they did AS USUAL. Did AR's passes look as though he hardly threw during the preseason? Yes, AS USUAL. Unlike Cousins, did he hold on to the ball too long and take sacks instead of throwing it away? Yes, AS USUAL. Will he pass into double coverage as he has done in championship games instead of getting the first down? Were the DBacks and Safety lost out there ande looked like the Keystone Cops once again? Yes, AS USUAL. Will Bahk sit out the season, eating ding dongs and yodels all day and collect millions? Yes, AS USUAL. Were the Packers not just outplayed but also outcoached? Yes, AS USUAL. Aside from the dropped TD on the first play, the offensive rookies look get, they will improve. Special teams played good.

jefferson finished with 184 yards. 16 yards was not going to make a difference. Do something different. Talking about being slow to make an adjustment, but not making one at all is not the answer, in my opinion.

they ran zone the entire first half and the vikings just motioned jefferson to make sure that it was in fact zone. then they ran crossers or mesh right behind quay walker over and over. its one thing to run zone, but you cant consistently have lbs and safetys matched up on a top 3 wr in the world. zone or no zone, at least have a corner whether it be jaire or stokes or douglas with safety help on this dude. they adjusted way too late. if your gonna lose, lose to kj osbourn or an aging adam thielen. or even cook. but you cant let an athlete like jj run free like that.

Packers game plan made it easy. Great job Joe. Organization pays Alexander like one of the best so maybe let him cover the best. 23 post game press conference said it all. Let him do his job. When's the last time the Packers played a zone well??

Outcoached themselves again.

4 and 1, everybody in America knew it was a shotgun dive to Dillon. This has been the number one play on short yardage since Matt got here. Just a clunker in all phases. Except Special Teams. Packers football: Can't put all 3 phases of the game together for a game since 1996.

I was 'off' most of the offseason and I was going to comment about the apparent overconfidence of a lot of people (Staff predications 10W!) but I didn't want to be the downer. I just couldn't see how you could expect all these rookie receivers to replace Adams, MVS and Lazard. I wasn't upset with Adams leaving but didn't expect to not have MVS and Lazard.

But it was still an unprepared team yet again and that is on MLF - again. I can't even blame AR if none of the receivers got open. Of course he did hold on to the ball a few times but in this situation, it didn't make a difference.

We've been here before. Last year was an even worse start. But I was more confident of the potential. They better get those rookies up to speed real fast.

I'm concerned.

Gute's been good.
Murphy - who cares anymore since Thomson and MM are gone.
MLF - saw the screen shot during the game that said something like "39-10 - best 3 season record with never having been to a SB". Says it all. If he has a 13-4 record this season, he will have earned it. Maybe he should have rested all the starters today too.

O line was missing 2 starters so it was no real shock to see them struggle. The D line struggled as well, and that was a bit of a surprise. Stokes got lit up. Rodgers could have used some preseason snaps with the new receivers, but here we are.

Last year's loss to the Saints was worse. Handle the Bears next week and this game will fade.

It's maybe a good thing to get Watson some snaps, but why are the Packers relying on him in key moments near the end of the game?
It seems strange to expect Watson to have good timing with Rodgers, especially in crunch time.
***
Along the same lines, I'm wondering if Winfree was out on the field very much. He knows the offense better than any available receiver other than Cobb, and it seems he would have been a guy to go to more than any rookies playing in their first real game.
***
First game of the season would seem to call for quick throws, but it doesn't seem Rodgers thought so.

Not much. He caught a nice pass late but not before that. Watkins was distinctly underwhelming. Cobb good but rarely seen. We didn’t target Doubs for a half after a wrong route and Watson till late in the 4th. Tonyan was clearly on a snap count and the only other TE catches were Deguara on the Love drive. Amari Rodgers was largely a non factor.

Rodgers tried to get some out quickly but not throwing to WRs because Cobb was not out there, Watkins covered and we don’t trust the others isn’t going to work. We have to throw to Doubs and Watson if they are active because we don’t have other options that can get open.

Why in the world was Jake Hanson out there? He was walked back by Smith right into Rodgers and really looked all around BAD.

WHY was Preston Smith and Quay Walker covering JJ?

I'm a homer, I can usually find a ray of sunshine in most games no matter how bad. Right now it's pretty damn cloudy in Los Angeles CA...AND Green Bay...

Glad I haven't spent the $300.00 on Sunday Ticket yet this year so I can watch every Packers game. This may be the first time since maybe 1998 or 1999 that I don't order it. At least they play on Sunday Night Football next week so I don't have to decide til week 3.

It's so easy to stream for free, why would you pay money?

Our LBs, Walker and Smith, were helping to bracket Jefferson by playing underneath with help over the top. I don't like it either, but I don't really have a better solution.

Why was Jake Hanson out there? Because the coaches felt he was our best available choice, all things considered. Eventually, they replaced him and Tom did....OK. I'll have to check the film.

I'd been sounding the alarm on our offensive line since about March, and that's back when I thought Bakhtiari would be playing with us. Leading up to the draft, I knew we needed a starting RT and people were just like "Oh, we'll put Nijman there". I thought that was a shaky plan, all things considered, and I was hoping we'd draft a RT on Day 2 of the draft. Maybe Rhyan/Tom is the way the organization approached that. I don't know for sure, of course, but it makes sense to me.

When did they pull Hanson? Tom came in for Runyan after he left with a concussion. I will have snap counts later to check, but I thought the coaches stubbornly stayed with Hanson. Steno's reputation should be taking a beating. Jury is on promoting Butkus.

I have been with you on worrying about the OL all year. Liked the Tom pick. Didn't know Rhyan very well.

They did not pull Hanson. Tom had some good moments as well as bad, but he was miles better than Hanson in my opinion. After him though, I’m not sure that we had a real option other than Walker to T and Newman back to G.

That's it, I'm going to quit picking on LH, he has some problems to workout by himself. Plus I really don't think Doubs ends up with 68 catches for 629 yards and 816 yards from scrimmage.

Totally agree on Steno and Butkus being unwilling to change it up on the OL when guys aren't getting it done, very frustrating.

Lowry playing a lot inside was also frustrating. 4i, 5T and to give guys an OCCASIONAL break inside and that's it. Maybe I just noticed his bad plays but I'd like to see him play 25-30 snaps a game and I think he played a lot more than that.

Barry got schooled. The confused secondary repeatedly lost track of Jefferson and paid dearly for it.

The rookie WRs are going to have to be more involved in the offense whether Rodgers likes it or not. You're only going to get so far with underneath routes to Cobb, Watkins, and the RBs. After Watson dropped that perfect throw, the offense just went into a shell. Four tries inside the 10-yard line and you don't try to throw inside the end zone once? Or try something a little more creative than up the gut on fourth down?

Barnes looks to be our first major casualty--not good, but at least we have depth at ILB.

Should we be actually worried about the Bears next time?

Nags-
Felt that Jones ran with heart too.
Just like last year, question some of the play calls at critical moments.
Gave up on the run way too early.
12 burning too much clock and no up tempo until it was too late.
No creative play calls, few misdirections, etc.
No adjustments from Barry when we were getting torched.
Our D did not play like a top 5 D
Better be ready for the Bears- they will come in confident with nothing to lose after being picked to finish last in the division.

I thought the offense would play better. This is one of the weakest offensive performances of the LaFleur-Rodgers era, and I would say that it was worse than the 3 we scored last year because this is a division loss.

Protect Your QB.
Rodgers got hit quite a few times. If he's going to take that many hits every game, he's going to be finished before the season is. With his concussion history, it's only going to take one and he looked a little woozy after that one particular hit. We're going to have to do a better job of protecting him.

Please Say It's Not True
Dillon/Jones combined for 15 carries for 95 yards. Yes, that is over six yards per attempt.

Welcome to the NFL
Welcome, Mr. Watson. What an entrance!
Welcome Mr. Walker. The Purple sure picked on you.
Welcome Mr. Doubs. You got open, you caught the ball. Good job.

YOu can bank on Gary leaving at the end of the season due to lack of money. This is his last season in GB and he;s known that for a long time.

Nice to see Tonyan back, even if only in.a limited fashion. Maybe it was just me, but our secondary looked baffled. Going to be a tough sled this year with those young recievers. MN's weakness was Bullard and Z against the run. Unfortunately, they line up opposite Hanson and Newman. Weakness versus weakness, and it proved out that GB's weakness was weaker than MN's weakness. [Did you get the point with the repetition of the word weakness?] Bullard and Z are better as pass rushers, to their average-ness was better than GB's weakness in that regard. It isn't like the left side of the OL was anything to brag about but it was probably best described as unspectacular. Left side got better in the second half when Tom came in, which is surprising to me. Myers wasn't better than Patrick.

Clark was on fire early and then disappeared. Slaton looked good. Lowry did his usual: had some plays here and there. Reed was not as washed up as I thought he was, but I can't say much better about him. Walker looks good. Gary and Preston have to be better against a pair of just okay offensive tackles. A lot of completions against zone coverage. I thought the Packers had the horses to challenge opponents but I don't think they did much of that with their coverage choices. Rasul had some nice plays though he did miss one of the plays where he knifed in as run support, but also made some shoelace tackles that limited gains.

You'd be another guy I'd want to watch a game with.

I think you have to start with 7 points, because it's almost impossible to win with 7 points. Dillon/Jones had 15 carries for 95 yards....that's not bad. Personally, if my QB was getting hit as much as Rodgers, I'd have leaned on the run a little more. I mean, we might still have finished with only 7, but our QB wouldn't be getting beaten up at the same time.

We were 34-0 in games where Rodgers played and the defense held the opponent to 24 or less. Then we lost to SF in the playoffs, and now we lost today. So it's 34-2.

I'm thinking/hoping that by the middle of the season, we'll look back on the opener and call it an aberration.

*The dropped TD by the rookie felt like an omen. My dreams of Watson being a Randy Moss out of the gate weren’t fulfilled.
*How can Jefferson be so wide open so many times! Where were the defensive adjustments?
*Missing our starting tackles really hurt. If even one was healthy it’s a different game. Newman must never play RT again and neither should Hanson play OG. In the first half, there was no push from the OL (especially on the failed TD run by Dillon). Please play the 5 best linemen. Otherwise, Rodgers will get killed.
*No news was good news for our special teams.
*Sorry about the injuries. Hopefully none are too serious.
*I was won over this year to support no playing any of the starters in the preseason; but after 2 underperforming losses the past 2 years, I think the coaches and first string needs to play some preseason games at least to get used to playing together again in live action so they can play at a higher level in the first regular season game. They laid an egg as our special teams was the highlight (with no great highlights).
*We will play much better next week! GPG!

Jefferson at #20 is still the pick...For you deniers. Another poor game plan from our Coach. Jones should have been moved all over like Jefferson was because he’s a weapon.
Our OL is not all that either. Looking forward to our Tackles back. For those of you who say not to play starters in the pre-season...you don’t know squat.

It's not we fans that make it difference. How did MLF make the same major mistake 2 seasons in a row? (Maybe he thinks he's as good as his record and it's not just AR that has an ego problem.)

I took a law class and the professor said something I never forgot " sometimes you need to call a cat a cat"
LeFlower inherited the best QB in football, a solid run game, a crop of decent receivers and a halfway decent defense.
He didnt have to build shit. So this he won all these games, ya fine if he would have built the team from scratch.
The plays he uses came from another teams play books and he just ape's what other coaches he works for did. Thus, he aint so great or he would know how to compete in playoff games.

You're asking a question about a previous post...But here goes. ML uses 2-RB's all season. In the playoffs 2 years in a row either Jones was hurt then Dillon was hurt and ML abandoned the run game. ML has FAILED to get more RB's involved in the game throughout the season and doesn't trust them enough to actually put them in a game that matters when they are needed. His failure to get rotational personnel ready at least in his mind makes the team one dimensional in the playoffs from his actions.....or inaction during the season. He has failed to learn from his same mistakes multiple years in a row. ML may eventually be a good HC.....But he is not learning from his short comings.....so....if/when we can win it all may be with someone else as HC.

You are totally wrong. We were all told that AR gets enough practice time to get on the same page with our new receivers and doesnt need to attend OTA's or work the pre season.
You saw the absolute precision today between him and all these so called talented draft picks Gutt selected. It was a symphony, poetry it was a beautiful mystery.

Have to give the vyqueens credit...showed how to destroy a soft zone...for the entire first half! That was embarrassing.

The left side of Nijman and Tom was sturdy. The right side...ugh.

STs? Still trying to gain acceptance.

Long season. Another lousy start.

Rodgers was awful, held the ball WAY too long. He needs to stop this trust shit. 4th preaeason game they will be fine. The Vikings won their super bowl, good for them. I was at the Saints game in Jacksonville last year, same shit. They didn't get off the plane. Whatever, they still win the division. Hopefully Quay Walker was held out for precautionary resasons. Barnes may be done for the season. They will still get to 11-6, 12-5

If the Bears beat us next week, Hell will come apart at the seams. We'd be 0-2, and 0-2 in the division, and we would have lost to the freakin' Bears at home. People will be screaming like their hair is on fire.

All Minnesota did today was hold serve. They played well and they won at home. We missed a golden opportunity to crush their souls, but you are right that the game really doesn't mean that much, certainly not as much as a loss to the Bears would mean.

I fully expected the possibility the Packers start 1-2. Young banged up roster on the road against the Vikings and Tampa week 3. I would be stunned if they lost to the bears at home after this performance. I still expect a 1-2 start and a division title.

You have to be the worst reader I've ever known.

Where did I say losing a divisional game means nothing? This has happened so many times with you that I've lost count.

Winning home games are important, and winning home games against division rivals are most important. This was Minnesota's most important game of the year, a divisional rival at home. They held serve. If we do the same we'll be fine.

As opposed to losing to the Bears, at home. This would be worse. Not only would it be a home loss, but the Bears are not our main rival this season.

You had been doing so well.

That will be hillarious. All I know is if Fields comes in and can make a passing game out of the Bears offence - He made two, count em two decent passes the entire game both for td.s If he can light up our pass D then it will be a very long season.
They cant get rid of Barry now its too late and he cant train these do do's how to play press d. Were stuck with this d.

There was a lot of fundamental stuff that went wrong that SHOULD be corrected:

Breaking huddle late and having less time at the line to change a play
Missing blocks
How about Olinemen turning and watching a play. Myers and others pulling with great speed, but not finding someone to block? Then literally turning around and watching the backs get tackled. Same with the Rodgers sack/fumble.
CBs playing off the ball by 8-9 yrds, especially late in the game when you need a play?...easy pitch and catches. Challenge the receivers and throw off their timing in the passing game.
Get your head around quickly to catch a quick pass!!
And of course...CATCH the BALL!!

The defense gave up only 23 points altogether, and just 6 in the second half, and that included 3 points after AR was sacked and fumbled in GB territory.

There is a twitter with film of Davante Adams running a route, breaking some CB's ankles and then being the only player visible on the screen against the Chargers today. Problem was that happened today with Jefferson, but it was against ZONE coverage. I don't think that should ever happen against a zone.

I think GB's defensive personnel is better than MN's offensive personnel. That's a problem for me. 23 points isn't awful, though maybe they played to kill clock in the 4th quarter as a focus rather than to definitely score.

I am not as sure about whether at this stage of its development GB's offensive personnel is better than MN's defensive guys.

I saw a tweet that they played 159 snaps of cover 1 last year. Not a lot but not none. I wish they had an asshole reporter that would ask the tough questions like why do you keep trying the same thing when it obviously isn't working. I understand not wanting to play man when you're going against a running QB but when you're getting roasted and it's Cousins? I don't get it.

Barry has not trained our backs to play tight and cover. There is a reason for this, the thinks Alex is the only one talented enough to do it and you need all of them so they play a fuzzy zone instead that no one understands.

A few thoughts
Oh it’s way too early to despair
Until o line is healthy it’ll be rough
I really liked what I saw on the young receivers in spite of mistakes
Watkins was under used
If you eliminate the Jefferson debacle the D played pretty good
Matt and joe need to adjust quicker
Can’t bag on Rogers too much for holding the ball yes he holds it too long but he’s trying to look for open receivers
Finally too many guys get hurt during the game we have to figure out what the problem is

Come on, watson dropped a perfect pass. He failed A R trust test and thus will go unnoticed the rest of the game. R will forget the guy is even on the field.
He only throws to those he can trust. He has no intention, never did to pass the ball around. The playoff lose, 2 passes went to someone not named Adams the entire game. That is nuts.
He even overlooked a Lazard wide open down the middle no one near him and he passed short to Adams for a loss.

Any time a team is as ill-prepared as the Packers were, and anytime the game plan, both defensively and defensively, is that far off the mark, with too few adjustments, it does not bode well. They're reading too many of the optimistic press clippings.

That's a sobering thought. Believing your own hype is the step right before becoming full of your own juice. That results in the all-too-familiar dumbfounded look we saw on MM's and Bret Beilema's faces as they squinted at scoreboard replays, brows furrowed, mouths agape, in disbelief that the same play call in the same situation that hadn't worked didn't work again.

Bisachia was promoted over a fired head coach and led his team to the playoffs.

I wouldn't mind seeing that story repeated.

I am OFF the MLF bandwagon. Just way TOO MANY STOOPID coaching mistakes. I can forgive a lot, but lack of intelligence in a coach is a fire-able offense and guess who qualifies?

way to cover up the stinky old fish with some perfume buddy.

Rodgers is the main reason for the 13 win seasons, and it pains me to say that and give his smug arrogant ass the credit, but that is the unvarnished truth.

come up with another reason why MLF has done a good job other than letting AR run the show, which I would argue is not an optimal scenario despite the 13 win seasons. No SB appearances and certainly no Championships.

Not winning the SB isn't a reason to fire a HC, see Levy, M, but all of the just plain stoopid decisions MLF has made as well as his seeming lack of leadership leads me to question his ability to be a head football coach for an NFL team.

He might make a good OC, but HC seems to be over his head.

Random thoughts:
1) Ban Hanson from the field. Tom should be used at whatever O-Line position needs help. not feeling comfortable that Bak shows up this season, we need Jenkins ASAP at right tackle.
2) Rookie mistake by Watson, unfortunately to be expected. He is not prime time ready, yet. My question is where in the heck was Sammy W????? If his lack of contribution continues, what a total waste of money.
3) Rodgers should have immediately recognized the right side of the O-line is a joke. Quick, short passes ala the GOAT was all that was needed throughout the game. Toss away the greed for big yardage. Move the sticks.
4) Doubs and Walker (what was his injury?) performed well.
5) Gary and P Smith were neturalized.
6) MLF is a terrible play caller in the Red Zone. Minnesota looks like they have an excellent new HC.
7) Viking punting and kick offs protected GB ST from making mistakes... no returns today. I guess for the better.

* Best comment was the one about Stokes not being able to cover Jefferson. (unless someone else blew and assignment and he was just trying to catch up).
* It was no coincidence that Z Smith lined up across from Hanson on 3rd downs.
* Don't understand Rodgers throwing into double coverage on end of game 3rd downs - regardless of who the receiver is.

Are we gonna do that thing where millions of packers fans world wide ignore the part of the game where MLF screams at Rodgers from the sideline “what the hell are you doing” while slamming his play card on his knee, then looks over his shoulder (presumably at Tom clements) and repeats, “what the hell is he doing?!” While it appears that Aaron Rodgers is cursing out MLF as he trots off the field?

Just checking so I know if we’re gonna ignore that or not.

Happened during the late first half IIRC. It was a failed 3rd down. During the national broadcast, they cut to Rodgers coming off the field (tight head shot) and he’s barking angrily at someone. They cut away to something else for a moment (perhaps a replay of the down) and then cut back to a shot of MLF walking the sideline, agitated, then turning towards the field, slamming his play card against his knee, then turning towards the field and clearing mouthing “what the hell are you doing?” While glaring, etc and so forth.

It did seem there were a lot of pained expressions by Rodgers caught on camera throughout the game (aside from the hits he took).
So, I'm wondering:
Any sightings or reports of Rodgers encouraging receivers and in general rallying the troops?
If so, good on Rodgers.
If not, is our QB much of a motivator, or a purveyor of negativity and discouragement to his teammates?

I will give Rodgers a plus for his block on Z.

The Packers ultimately need to put this loss behind them and move on. I expected there to be some rustiness on both sides of the ball due to no in-game opportunities to work together. This is proven because the STs, which played in the preseason (except Crosby), were good (thank goodness)! Not having Lazard, D-Bak, and EJ hurts mightily too. The Packers need to put this behind them, just like they did with last year's season opener, and move on and focus on the Bears. The Bears are not very good so the Packers should be able to take out their frustration on them. Also, Tom should be starting. he looked great. Hanson, on the other hand, was HORRIBLE.

As for the defense, there were two things that impeded today. First, WHY WAS JAIRE NOT COVERING JEFFERSON? Second, this is their first time playing a real game as a group, and they should get better as the season goes on. My guess is that they will be noticeably better next week, partly because of having played a full game together and part because they're playing the Bears.

Another thing: the defense could not consistently pressure Cousins. This is why we NEED to sign Jason Pierre-Paul to give us better EDGE depth. WRs will work themselves out and Lazard will return too.

On the bright side, Doubs flashed, and Dillon and the STs look good.

My observations.
1. Yes R holds the ball too long. The reason is the same reason the Pack has lost the last three playoff games. PPR R clearly has thought about the HOF and knows he will go in with one SB win and people will question that. His ego says, but I will have the highest PPR of any QB who ever played. That is his whole purpose. Not wining, not anything other then getting to the hall with that. This means he must be sure the people he passes to can catch the ball, can get in the open and be reliable or his PPR goes down and he loses out of that. It means the world to his egoistic mind.
2. Our Pass D has been horrid for years, going back before Barry.
This scheme of there's is due to having dback who are not smart enough, fast enough, or tough enough to cover. Its really that simple.
Barry all but told an analyst Alex is the only one who can cover one on one. Stokes is too dumb. He has size, speed but his brain in stuck in neutral. He has no clue what to do out there. Our other dbacks lack the speed and size. Get used to it, this is the result of poor drafting and poor free agent acquistions due to giving R all the money.
3. the vikes are a complete team. Running, passing, receiving, defensive rush, pass defense. special teams. They were the better team today. Dont expect the packers to light it up and be whole next week. This is not a good team and Adams cant save it.

One of the many odd things about this game was the reliance on Christian Watson, who looked exactly like a player who didn't see the field during the entire preseason. The long pass to him at the beginning was a fun idea, even though it didn't work, but I was surprised how often they had him out there, even throwing to him on a key third down, only to have him fail to get his head around to look for the pass. Seems like you would want to break him in easy. On the other hand, I did not see Amari Rodgers on offense all day. I thought he was expected to have a significant role. Not that he would have made a big difference. I just think he would have at least been ready to play, unlike Watson.

Watkins and Cobb both looked pretty ordinary, so maybe they will need to get the young guys up to speed sooner rather than later. I thought Robert Tonyan was a bright spot, anyway. He looked like his old self.

The thing that stood out to me was, LeFluer was supposed to come from the Rams and bring the route tree, with WRs crossing rather than doing outs along the sideline. He hasn’t done that. Then Minnesota gets a Rams guy to coach them, and their WRs are crossing all over the place.

LeFluer looks like he stuck with the MM route tree. Tired of it.

Is Aaron Rodgers a good leader?

It was really nice to see a GB 1st round pick come out and play so well in his first game.
I know it's only one game and he didn't finish because he was injured, but man Quay Walker looks to be the real deal at ILB.

Winfree has played well for two preseasons, plays well when he gets a chance, why are Cobb and Rodgers starting in front of him? Cobb looks to be too slow but Aaron Rodgers likes him sooo? Cobb, Amari Rodgers disappearing act. Both of those players are too slow and have no wiggle. I like Cobb, but he looks done.
I doubt Lazard makes much of a difference.

I just don't know what to say about the D. Stokes? what happened? Interior linemen? What happened? That wasn't even a good offensive line they faced and they got pushed around.

I think Bakh may be done. Should be able to play by now. If his knee doesn't allow him to play after this much time, how effective will he be when he does get back in? How long will the knee hold up? I think maybe it's time for GB fans to realize that we won't have probowl level tackle play this season.

I hope Walker is ok, it sure would be fun watching him this season.

Here's the real difference from who Aaron Rodgers is and true greatness. If Rodgers was truly great, after the first play he would have been sprinting towards the sidelines to clap Watson on the shoulder telling him what a great route he ran and how he would be getting back to him soon so he could catch one of the many touchdown he was going to throw him this season. How would the rest of the team reacted in the face of that? How uplifting a moment such a crushing defeat on Watson first play as a professional could've been with generous, kind words from 12 inspiring the whole team like selfless leaders do?. Instead what did Rodgers give a fellow human who failed in his first time in the limelight? Rodgers callously rolled eyes with disdain with stink face for all the world to see deflating the team for the rest of the game. Great leadership Aaron.

While I think Rodgers has found himself spiritually, he now needs to understand the next step is self transcendence.
