Former Packers Tight Ends Find Employment Elsewhere in NFL

It was a good day for former Green Bay Packers tight ends on Tuesday.

One day after being released by the Packers, Ryan Taylor was claimed on waivers by the Baltimore Ravens.

The Ravens will assume the contract Taylor previously signed with Green Bay. He is in the final year of a four-year contract and will become an unrestricted free agent at season's end.

Elsehwere in the NFL, the New Orleans Saints signed tight end Tom Crabtree as a free agent.

Crabtree played for the Packers for three seasons from 2010 to 2012 and was a member of the team's Super Bowl XLV team.

In 2013, Crabtree played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, although his season ended on injured reserve in November when he tore his biceps.

Both good players who will help their respective teams. Not good enough to help the Packers who need more offensive production from their TEs.

Both are players that good teams always want to replace. I doubt either one could help the Packers in any way, that's why they're not here anymore.

Tom could (probably) help in the run-blocking area, but MM wants balanced TEs.

What was the name of that TE that played for the Rams before we picked him up last season? A lot of people thought he was a great run blocking TE. Sucks that didn't work out.

Mulligan. He was then with the Patriots and Bears, and didn't make it anywhere. Problem was that he could only block. So bringing him in pretty much gave away that it was a run play.

Crabtree is an ok blocker at best. I'd rather have the 3 TEs we have on the roster still.

I've always liked Tom Crabtree. Good for him that he found a job.
