Eagles 34 Packers 27: Game Balls & Lame Calls

The Green Bay Packers got bullied and pushed around in their own backyard Thursday night and left that yard limping and with their first loss of the season.  In a game they looked to be able to win with a banged up Philadelphia Eagles team in town, the Packers defense wasn't up to the task.  Somehow.  Zero sacks and zero turnovers on the night led to way too many easy Eagles yards and points.

The Packers now have 10 days to get healthy before heading into Dallas to face the Cowboys.  On to the night's best and worst.

Game Balls

Davante Adams

Adams had this accolade wrapped up before halftime.  Offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett said they wanted to get the ball to Adams more leading up to this game and they did.  To the tune of 10 catches for 180 yards.

The Eagles have allowed the top opposing pass catcher to have a big day nearly every week.  The plan to get the ball to Adams was clearly the way to go and so the Packers got it right.  Have to wonder how this game turns out if he's able to finish.

Adams left the game in the fourth quarter with a foot injury and did not return.  With the game on the line for him not to be out there would seem very concerning.  Something to monitor over the next week and if it's anything serious or long term, the complexion of this season changes drastically.

Geronimo Allison

Two huge catches on the touchdown drive to end the first half.  Allison took some heat after his fumble against the Minnesota Vikings and a lackluster follow up against Denver, but he showed up in a big way when the Packers desperately needed to find the end zone.

Kevin King

Three times King got his hand in on a tight play and knocked the ball away.  This is what a healthy Kevin King can do and it's not something the Packers have been fortunate enough to see a lot of in the past two seasons.

In a game where the defense was struggling, King showed up in a big, although his soft coverage on Alshon Jeffery on third and long to end the third quarter was less than optimal.

Lame Calls

Will Redmond

Redmond was the call in place of Raven Greene and the Eagles quickly found him in coverage.  Over and over, Redmond was victimized as the Eagles offense marched through what had been a tough Packers defense.  That's what well-coached teams do - find the weak spot and attack it.  The Eagles are clearly not the Bears, Vikings or Broncos.

He left the game in the third quarter with a possible concussion.

Defense

They weren't going to ball out every week and this week, they called it in.  On a short week, they got pushed around and obliged most every Eagles running back all night.  That is a recipe for disaster and that disaster ends up being the Packers' first loss of the season.

No sacks, no turnovers and soft coverage.  Did we miss an announcement on Dom Capers returning as an honorary defensive play caller?  That's how bad it was.  Maybe worse.

Being banged up and a short week are no excuses.  Philadelphia was probably more banged up and had to travel.

After a hot start, Green Bay's defense now has some questions to answer after getting gashed two weeks in a row.

Kick Return Coverage

The kicker had to make a tackle, which is never desirable.  The Packers were way too porous in their coverage and gave up way, way too many yards, setting the Eagles up with short fields on several occasions.

The Green Bay Packers on 1st and Goal from the 1-Yard Line

This one needs no explanation and includes the head coach/play caller.

Others to mention:

  • I'm not a "blame the officiating" guy because at this point, we know they're going to blow a few and so you simply can't allow the game to come down to a call.  It certainly appeared that there was a case for pass interference on the Eagles interception in the end zone but at the same time, you'd rather let the players play it out and not end a game on a review
  • That said, they absolutely blew it on the LaFleur challenge of pass interference earlier in the game when they didn't enforce what was a rather obvious foul against Adams
  • Running the ball at the times the Packers did and trying to run a stretch against the Eagles defense are the play calls of someone who doesn't read the news or own a television.  A really bad look by whoever pulled the trigger on those
  • If Bryan Bulaga is out long term, this offensive line is going to struggle against the more stout defensive fronts on the schedule.  Not what this team wants at all
  • Sounds like Jamaal Williams was moving around OK after the egregious hit by Derek Barnett.  That's more key for Williams, the man.  As far as Williams the running back, it would seem that he's likely to miss some time, at the very least
  • Why is there a rule allowing the officials to remove a player from a game after making such an egregious hit?  Two seasons ago, they let Danny Trevathan finish the game after taking Adams out.  This time, it was Barnett on Williams.  Both of those games, incidentally: Thursday nighters.
  • 10 days to lick wounds and hit the road to face the Dallas Cowboys

Football games are won or lost in the trenches. Both offense and defensive lines were manhandled by the Eagles. Unless the packers find a way of stopping the run and our offensive line learns how to run block ,
look forward to more games like the Eagles or worse..........

I found myself wondering, as I watched Alex Light getting pushed all over, if the Packers needed to at least try Turner at RT and put Patrick in at RG.

This is true for the most part. Some games turn on freak plays, bad officiating or other rarer events. But for sure entire seasons are won and lost in the trenches and this game showed this team can be beat there. This team will also still win the majority of their games because other teams are even worse in the trenches but this team will not advance far in the playoffs by surrendering at the LOS.

The long KO return by the Eagles turned the momentum against the Packers and they were on their heels, defensively, from that point forward.

Where I thought this defense was different than prior years is that they could resist that type of momentum and avoid getting completely steamrolled for an entire game.

Perfect example is giving the ball to Philly at the 1 yard line, and immediately allowing a 7 yard run. That's what we've seen from this defense in past years, didn't think we'd see it out of this group

I wonder if he's less expensive, or more expensive at this point in the season. I haven't heard, but Bulaga's injury didn't seem bad enough to be season ending did it? If he's only slightly injured, they can't be giving up first round picks for another tackle

I don’t think there are any flaws there that we didn’t see coming. This is not a strong run defense. Hasn’t been so far this year. The Eagles’ O line put together their best performance of the year.

I feel like if you commit a penalty and the guy you screw goes off the field you should be out until they are able to return. I know that is extreme, but that has been my emotional reaction for a while now. That is a dirty defense. Lots of shots towards the head. I’m surprised a fight didn’t break out.

Jimmy Graham is a huge disappointment. For what he is getting paid... Two plays there at the end, if not three where he should have found a way to make it work.

My impression was that Pettine emphasizes pass defense over run defense. This results in players and schemes that are vulnerable to giving up a lot of 4 yard runs, like we saw against Denver. But, Pettine knows that if the pass defense is strong, very few teams will beat GB running 50 times a game.

Last night was different. Eagles picked up multiple big run plays early, and GB couldn't adjust. They didn't need to emphasize the pass defense. Either Pettine didn't adjust well, or doesn't have the players to adjust. If that can't be fixed, the whole league was given the textbook on how to beat this defense.

Spot on. What was the Eagles' longest downfield completion last night? Jordan Howard's easy 20 yard jaunt to the endzone. Philly really never tested the Packers downfield. They didn't need to.

And the reason teams with elite CBs are so tough to play against is that in those situations, they let them play 1-on-1. Bring the saftey's down to help the run, or take a DB off the field and bring in a big MLB, or play with more d-lineman.

I don't know the Xs and Os well enough to see if Pettine was trying to do that or not.

I'm most concerned about the run defense. Mike Pettine is the one who said "once you put it on tape, opponents will attack it."

It's three weeks in a row now that the Vikings, Broncos and Eagles have ran all over us. We have arguably the league's best RB up next, so Pettine 'n co. have got to figure something out. When it starts getting colder outside, teams will turn to the run, while we don't seem to be able to run the ball.

That does not bode well for December and January football.

If I'm the GM, I try to stop the bleeding -- now -- and sign a DT off the street:

1. Muhammad Wilkerson
2. Darius Philon
3. Mike Pennel (doubtful, I know given his suspensions)

ILB's available:
1. Mason Foster
2. Manti Te'o

Get that list to Gutey now. Today.
I'd sign at least 2 of those guys. Martinez can't do it all inside there.
There is nobody else. Kenny Clark needs help too.
Mike Pennell, hell Howard Green, BJ Raji or Gilbert Brown would do more clogging the gaps than Lowry, Keke do.

It is obvious Burk is sorely (no pun intended) missed, as is Raven Greene. The black hole of the defense has existed for years and doesn’t look to be solved before next draft. Gute will likely look at the options previously listed. But it will be a bandaid on a deep gash.

Spot on. GM Gute made these choices, so he owns them. Cutting (or not resigning) CM3 meant you lost his ability to cover the backside in Pettine scheme (ie: at Lions in 2 half comeback with Burks) Daniels ability to stuff the run even when injuried are things that do not show up in the stats page. Gute had his reasons, cap space, turn the page, youth, ego etc. etc. But there are costs, and yestrday we saw them out on the field. But, this is still a good YOUNG defense and there are growing pains which we fans see week to week.

I totally agree. We need to figure out how to stop the run and if the guys on the team can’t do it we need to find someone to bring in that can help do that. Because right now our defensive line is not getting off blocks they’re getting pushed 4 or 5 yards off the ball. The holes in the run game have been just enormous. It’s unacceptable. I thought Kenny Clark was supposed to be this beast that no one can block but to me it looks like he’s not getting off any blocks and not doing much in the run game at all. I could be wrong but that’s how it looks to me. Also I like to point out how good Rogers look today. I’ve been someone on here that has been critical of him holding the ball too much not utilizing the middle of the field and not getting the ball did Jimmy Graham and let him use his big frame to make catches. So I was happy with the way he played today. He got balls out quick and then extended plays when necessary and what I was most happy about was the way he was throwing the ball in the middle of the field I know it did lead to the pick at the end of the game and I would’ve liked him to throw that ball down low where only his guy can make that catch but that’s just me nit picking but u could also say that was PI on that play, it look that way to me. But overall we need to start stopping the run better and we need to start running the ball better because our offensive line has been terrible at creating holes in the run game as well. Aaron Jones has been getting hit in the backfield all game long. This zone running scheme has been run terribly so far. Also I would like see more inside runs, runs out of shotgun and delayed handoffs with the offense spread out instead of always running out of 2 te sets. It seems to me that jones runs better of those types of runs and formations. Cause what I do know is that those outside runs aren’t working especially last night but we kept running them and losing yards every time. Also we got be able to run damn ball in from 1 yard line.

Mike Daniels has been struggling with injuries. I wonder if his release had less to do with proactive cap management (though that was a piece), and more to do with Gute believing he couldn't be an impact player in 2019.

Maybe Gute and Pettine had the pieces in place, and didn't realize how significant the Daniels lingering injuries were. By the time they knew, it was too late. What we're seeing is the result of them not being able to be proactive in the offseason to fix that unknown.

Agree that someone has to be brought in. Several depth players were horrible last night.

Can anyone explain to me why every single time we force a punt, that whoever our return guy is has no time to catch it. No space. Do we not know how to block those gunners? They always get free & fly down to either kill our punt returner or force a fair catch.

I put this very low on the concern list. I'd prefer a fair catch over a 7 yard return with a high probability of fumbling or a block in the back call. I don't think GB is losing out much here.

The most troubling thing was that the Eagles had their way with the Packers between the tackles. Kenny Clark was a non-factor last night, and even with him and Lancaster in the game (who is supposed to be stout against the run) at the same time, they got had...and not by a back like Zeke, either. Dallas will run all day on this defense unless the Packers get Adams back AND figure out how to shore up the run D.

I'm confused: people posted earlier that this defense has the same old problems stopping the run, and yet we want to bring back players that were part of the same old problems?

Mt. Adams' injury seems to be a meaningful part of this defense's problems right now in the trenches. Lancaster isn't nearly as good as Adams showed earlier. Get a 3-down ILB (MAYBE that's Burks?) in there next to Martinez and maybe the ship rights itself enough to force teams to play to the strength of this Packer defense more (ahem: pass defense).

We had excited posters here last week calling for a name for our ferocious defense. I suppose it's too late to recycle Gang Green with Shopko out of business. Maybe The Sieve? The Spillway? At least play is better on the back end.

This has always been a weakness in Pettines? current defense. Packers choose hybrid/DB over LB in their system. A risk, but one dictated by the current NFL defensive rules. The danger was that with a very thin secondary (as you mentioned several times) the Packers would get expose in the run game with no backside coverage. Add the non holding calls in the run game and...we saw the result last night. The big problem for the moment is they have no replacement for Raven Greene, and cannot game around that with the loss of Tony Brown. As it stands, it's more a personal issue than anything else. Until the Packers get Burks and or Jones? back, they have no choice but to play on with what they have. (Which is pretty darn good, despite the griping.) On holding, that is a technique issue that this coaching staff can fix over the mini bye which will stop them from losing leverage in their gaps. Just a matter of teaching the 1st and 2 years something they probably never encountered before at the pro level. Not a problem. This is a very young defense, and they are going to have growing pains. But lets not forget, when they had to, this defense stoned the Eagles offense twice to give the ball back to the Rodgers and the Packers Offense and the chance to win this game.

Terrible red zone play calling! Thus far, I don't see any evidence that LaFleur is the play-calling innovator/Messiah that he was expected to be. This is terribly disappointing and does not bode well for remainder of season.

I also wonder why LaFleur did not challenge absence of pass interference call on Rodgers' tipped ball interception with a little over a minute remaining. Or is that play an automatic booth review?

But the turning point was Packers' failure to score on previous red zone drive when Rodgers made a poor throw to Graham in end zone although a better receiver might have caught that.

IMO, MLF should NOT be calling the plays. That should belong to the OC. I didn’t like it when MM called the plays and don’t like it now.

I understand Hackett is MLF’s choice and seems comfortable with the HC calling the plays. But any HC calling plays during a game takes attention away from other issues, especially on the sidelines during a game.

Agreed. It was a good defensive play made by a player who didn't give up on it. ARod never felt that pressure, but he's got to get rid of the ball.

Yeah I don't understand going over the middle on a guy that's double teamed, when it was only second down. Even if it ultimately was PI. Plus he wasn't in the end zone, which seems like a poor decision to throw it their anyways. Limited time and downs, they didn't need to pick up 5 yards. I'm not sure he gets in the end zone if thats caught.

The announcers were talking about how the practice squad guy was coming in because the Eagles were so depleted. Rodgers never even looked that direction. I think he was playing in the left corner though on Lazard.

Well, I AM going to put some ""blame the officiating" guy" into the lame category. After the blatant helmet to helmet hit on Shepherd I was saying WTF - isn't it the officials' job to watch the punt returner? No call at all? Then, with three guys holding him (including one guy holding his head) Barnett essentially launched himself head to head at a stationary target. They felt it wasn't "egregious" W - T - F ????? One has to wonder how the game would of played out if Williams hadn't been taken out on the first freaking play. Am I the only one who thought the Eagles were head hunting all night? Anyways, that said, you knew the Defense was bound to have a bad game sometime. This was certainly one and the offense, despite scoring 27 points wasn't enough to overcome that. A rough outing and the giant holes for the Eagles RB's to run through are especially concerning as it's becoming a big trend for the Packers' defense. I can't phantom how the Packers didn't try to run the ball in from the one; hell, just bring in an extra lineman and try it four times. That would have been better than trying to pass in short space. I sure hope Williams isn't permanently injured. Davante with a toe injury is a major problem. Turf Toe or a broken toe would take away his game -his incredible footwork. Yikes, I hope this "mini-bye" gets some miracle healing going fast.

First play on Shepherd also had a facemask that wasn't called either

Sendejo was head hunting again when he nearly killed his own CB

Didn't overturn the no PI call, didn't call the clear PI in the fourth quarter, didn't call the clear PI on the final interception. Jason Wilde put a picture out on twitter, philly's CB had his arm wrapped around the receiver's body as the ball was coming in. Clear PI, and the booth chose not to review.

Also, how were there 0 holding penalties called last night? So inconsistent

Guys, Al is well aware of the problem and is working on a fix. There are two issues here and they are clashing against each other. Nagler's need to monetize via video long term, and Al's need to keep the blog functions, especially the long term commentator community intact. But this blog did need to be upgraded with the added video and smartphone and pad use. There was no way Al could avoid that reality. There are going to be ongoing problems, so bear with it, it will get fixed.

LAME CALLS: The guys wearing striped shirts claiming to be NFL Officials, charged with upholding the rules of the game.

I will not use this as an excuse for our loss, HOWEVER, their PISS POOR officiating allowed Derek Barnett to continue playing in the game after targeting Jamaal Williams. Barnett should have immediately been DISQUALIFIED. Would not have had the Rodgers strip sack. Did that affect the game adversely for Green Bay? You bet it did.

Spock was right. WHO the HELL was the official watching our returner, Darrius Shepherd, and somehow MISS THE SHOT TO HIS HEAD??? HELMET TO HELMET??? What the F are these A clowns watching?

How about that 75 yd. return? You can CLEARLY see Alan Lazard, Danny Vitale and Ty Summers being held throughout the return. No call. Countless other botched calls. I reviewed the last throw to MVS numerous times, and the defender Jones clearly had his arms wrapped around MVS from behind BEFORE the ball got there. MVS's right arm was held, without question before the ball arrived. That is Pass Interference. No call. No challenges allowed inside of 2 minutes. We are left to count on the integrity of the officials to review and make the correct call. Sadly, the NFL OFFICIALS HAVE NO INTEGRITY. Complete BS. Aren't all scoring and change of possession plays supposed to be reviewed?

WHEN will this NFL get their shit together and establish a system that makes every call a correct call? It's not that hard, but it appears the NFL loves this folly. I do not. If they are not careful, they will lose this lifelong fan.

No excuse, but, WE MUST CALL IT WHAT IT IS! THE NFL OFFICIALS SUCK! They are not doing their job correctly.

Frustration boils when a blown call causes a domino affect on the game. The no call on the Sheppard hit then the non ejection on the Williams hit. Williams is out and his play script is gone. Barnett stays and forces a fumble. Review in place to overturn PI calls but a blow to the chin of MVS does not constitute PI. Now a lost time out. On Howard's "wide open touchdown" Martinez is clearly picked but no call. Since the officials didn't take head hunting out of the game it later cost Philly a player when Tonyan ,thankfully, ducked and the headhunting Zendias took out his teammate.

The NFL needs to quit F'ing around with replay. The integrity of the game is being lost, if it isn't already.

They need a head official in a booth upstairs to review all of the calls, then pass down a judgement to the officials on the field.

Teams should not be penalized because an official missed a call. They should be allowed to challenge without penalty. I believe there would be less challenges if there were a stronger presence to decide on getting the calls right according to the rules of the game.

And, none of this BS about the guys who missed the calls reviewing them and then making a judgement themselves. Too much bias allowed.

CLEAN IT UP NFL.

No No and NOOOOO! The play calling is not the problem1

It's the execution! The OL is the main problem. How many times do I have to say this until some of you guys wake and smell the coffee!
If you want to be a championship team the OL has to have some ability to rush block especially when it really needs to. They can't! And that in turns sets the tempo for the game! Twice on the 2 yd line 1st and goal and you can punch it in! That's horrible!

Rodgers is becoming "fixated" on certain players and not utilizing all the remainder. On that last drive Rodgers had Shepard open for an easy TD but elected to throw a more difficult pass which was incomplete. He never looked at Shepard!

Here's another thing, way too many tackles for Martinez! 15+! Where the hell is everyone else? This defense still lacks critical personel in key positions such as DL and IB.

I hate to say this but Gary is not impressing me. I think he'll end up being average at best....I hope I'm wrong.

The run issues are for sure on the o-line. There were multiple plays where Jones was being met in the backfield and getting blown up. Good run games are built on strong o-lines, that's why the Cowboys and Rams have success, even when their star RBs are injured/suspended/holding out

Since a couple of years thats the biggest problem. AR trust stuff is really strange and he has more weapons than most QBs. Not sure if that fixable if you are 35.
He is just not playing like a top 10 QB since 2017......

But its never his fault. The D is too weak, the coach too bad or the teammates dont know the routes and dont get separation. Somtimes its the playcalling and often the refs but never our QB. We are nothing without him and we would never win a game again. He carries everyone on his shoulders….all the time. When we win he is the only reason and when we loose he is never to blame. The media or his former disgrundled teammates make something up but the truth is he can never fail

Lame calls: red zone defense, red zone offense

This entire game came down to the simple fact that one team scored touchdowns in the red zone and one team didn't.

As bad as the D looked at times, if they just forced a few field goals this game is different. And the offense... well two short field goals and two failed trips in the red zone is not going to win you anything.

Game Balls - Aaron Rodgers, Davonte Adams, Bakh, Kevin King.

Lame Calls: Run defense, Run offense, officiating, MLF.

MLF has some adversity to deal with for the first time this season.
His first loss, a few key injuries (Adams and Bulaga), no running game, and a soft Run defense. Let’s see how he responds with a mini-bye and a road trip to Big D.

Gute needs to reinforce the offense this off season with WRs, OLs, RBs and a TE. Thanks, Since ‘61

I just looked at a replay from a number of angles and there's no doubt Philly's CB James contacts MVS just before the ball arrives. But worse yet, he pins MVS's right arm down from behind and that's why it bounced off him.

As F'd-up the other PI calls were earlier, I don't think the review officials could have ignored this one. It should have been GB's ball at around the one with 25 seconds left first down and two time-outs. As inept as they were earlier down there, they still could have tied or won the game with a two point conversion.

I'm not up on all the under two minute review rules or how many challenges a coach gets after losing (*cough, cough*) one earlier, but I get the feeling the GB coaching staff blew-it by not throwing the red-flag on this.

They play tough and have great coaching so let’s relax as we didn’t expect to go 16-0 and this team, and HC, should grow as the season progresses

I expected to go 8-0 at home as favorites in each game.
And I expected to go 5-3 on the road with losses in Dallas, Kansas City, and Minnesota.

Now losing a home game, to the same team Detroit just beat in Philly, that's no bueno. Gotta steal a road win in Dallas or Minny. The NFC games are key, of course, the divisional ones the biggest.

We don't have a legit nose tackle. Clark is a great player but he's a DT, not a nose tackle. Need those big uglies in the middle. Martinez making all those tackles isn't an indication he's a great LB, although he's not bad, It's an indication the D line isn't stopping anyone.

Not all that impressed with Rodgers, even granting his great plays.
Only one touchdown in the second half.
The touchdown at the end of the first half relied on a great catch by Allison; this came after a Rodgers fumble that led to an Eagles touchdown.
Before that, two trips in the red zone settled for field goals because Rodgers had to play hero ball.
The great plays that Rodgers makes seem only to encourage him to play stupidly and selfishly -- neglecting the short passes that move the sticks, and ignoring the receivers he considers unworthy of his trust.
I continue as a big fan of Rodgers -- but maybe, just maybe, he has become a prima donna who intimidates our head coach into doing things the Rodgers way, and who hinders the development of our young guys by freezing them out (unless he absolutely needs them in a pinch).
No one among players and coaches dares speak openly with concerns about Rodgers; and yet our offense so far this season is terrible, almost unwatchable. The occasional spectacular blinds fans to the continual ineptitude.
I hope I'm way wrong, and welcome thoughtful responses to help me to see things differently. Let's hear compelling arguments.
I'm getting to the point where I'll soon want to trade Rodgers for Derek Carr and a second-rounder.

he used many shorter passes yesterday to move the sticks which was encouraging to me...not having a running game is just absurd...what I'm not buying is that Jones is some kind of special running back...he's quick and shifty but what did that get him yesterday...nada.....isnt Graham supposed to catch those jump balls in the end zone?? They hit him in the hands two times...they scored plenty of points to win the game if the defense didn't completely shit the bed..exposed for all to see in the Broncos game and a good Philly coach took advantage...boy wonder lafluer got cute and it cost them...everyone is still learning...

We are stuck with Rodgers and his ways. He says he wants to be coached but does he really? He has a guaranteed $ 30 million per year and he knows he can tell anybody to "stick it in their ear" and get away with it. I really do not see an upside to this situation.

We need to acquire some run stuffing defensive lineman. Gary is not it. Did he play last night? We need also some stout O linemen, WR's. Too many years of TT drafts high picks wasted. This is going to be hard to quickly.

"The Green Bay Packers were gashed on the ground by the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night, and there was one specific trend about all those runs: they were mostly to the left. The Eagles consistently had big runs to the left against Green Bay, exploiting a season-long flaw for the Packers’ defense to the tune of 176 yards and two touchdowns on an average of 5.3 yards per attempt.

Warren Sharp of Sharp Football Analysis tracks specialized stats and produced a graphic showing how bad Green Bay has been on runs to the left. Rushes to the left tackle against them have gone for an average of 11.8 yards per carry this season, compared to 4.2 to the right tackle.

Packers run defense is TRASH to the left and the Eagles have been gutting them.

Via: https://t.co/GElODp8bhm pic.twitter.com/JfMW0rOfHf

— Warren Sharp (@SharpFootball) September 27, 2019

Those numbers proved to be consistent against the Eagles. Take a look at all these huge holes the Eagles had to run through going to the left against the Packers’ defense:

The secret is out on Green Bay — this is how you can beat them until they fix it.

Aaron Rodgers’ message after the Week 1 win over the Bears was: “we got a defense.” Yeah, about that …"

Anybody have any ideas how we fix this before the Cowboys?

Overthinking this. Packers defense got caught on cutback runs early. Give the Eagles credit for catching it on video. Stats guys are legion for taking this kind of stuff out of context. Packers adjusted, Eagles went to short game in voided areas in third quarter. Packers adjusted in the fourth and shut the eagle short game in the fourth which let the Packers offense come back. Packers will fix technique issue on the D line, the rest is personal, will they have enough healthy bodies at the hybrid/DB position at Dallas? We saw two of the best minds in the NFL at work with Peterson and Pettine in a tight ball game. Think about that..
