I haven't had a chance to listen to this Nagler and Czabe podcast, so I don't know what their take on PI is, but I can tell from the above photo and from watching vid of the interception, it would have been very difficult for the review officials to claim there was no PI here.

I know a lot of people are saying it was a bang-bang close play, which I agree with and would probably let go myself (even though Lewis did hit him before the ball arrived), but what clearly stood out to me was he had MVS's right arm pinned to his side. You can see that not just above but in the video of the interception.

It's one thing to make contact, but quite another to pin someones arm down. I believe if MLF were allowed to challenge (who knows if he or his staff were even aware, which is another issue), the review officials might have reversed the INT. What would MLF have to lose? But since supposedly under two minutes all reviews come from NY, how do we even know what they're focusing on, if anything.

I always felt this was a flaw in the process, that is a coach cannot ask the review officials to specifically look at an aspect of a play. Did the review officials even consider PI on that play? We'll never know because a team isn't allowed to point-out what they feel is egregious. Never liked that feature of under two minute reviews.

The above picture is a few frames too late, the ball has already been deflected and the defender has every right to bear hug the receiver. Would like to see the frame before the ball arrives.

And for the record, I'm all for the OPI calls this year - has been an addressed issue for far too long. Push off or initiate contact to create space and it's OPI, whether arm is fully extended or not.

But then stop the hand checking by both defender and receiver throughout the route. What happened to illegal contact downfield? DPI used to be an easy call - if defender initiates contact while ball is in the air it was DPI. Now they allow contact throughout the route and as the ball arrives and defender has to "obviously impact receivers' ability to make a catch". They've turned an easy call into a judgement call - let's see these refs catch a ball when they've had contact throughout the route. Crazy! We went through similarly silly rule changes with "what is a catch", used to be 2 feet down in bounds with the ball was a catch - simple. Now that's also a judgement call. Sometimes the old rules are the best rules and cannot be improved. :)

Reviewing PI is a huge flop, it slows the game down and 99% of the time sticks with the call on the field. Why waste the time? I truly believe bad calls even out throughout the course of the season anyway. Score TD’s instead of kicking field goals and the refs become less of a factor. The Pack could have put the Eagles away in the first quarter and a half...
