Chauncey Rivers out for season after tearing ACL in practice
The outside linebacker saw time in all four games for the Packers this season
By PackerAaron
The Packers will be without the services of outside linebacker Chauncey Rivers for the remainder of the season after the outside linebacker suffered a torn ACL on the second-to-last play of Wednesday's practice.
Packers OLB Chauncey Rivers tore his ACL on the second-to-last play of practice yesterday, a source said.@RapSheet first with the news that he sustained an injury.
For now, Jaylon Smith can take that roster spot, but they'll likely need another OLB soon.

Rivers was acquired off of waivers from Baltimore in early August. He saw time in all four games for the Packers this season, registering two tackles.
An undrafted free agent out of Mississippi State in 2020, Rivers spent all of his rookie season on the Ravens' practice squad, appearing in one game as a COVID-replacement elevation. In college, Rivers appeared in 26 career games (13 starts) at defensive end for MSU, recording 67 tackles (32 solo), 15 tackles for a loss, 7.5 sacks, three passes defensed and a forced fumble. As a senior, he earned All-Southeastern Conference second-team honors from The Associated Press after leading all Mississippi State defensive linemen with 43 tackles (24 solo), eight tackles for a loss and five sacks.

This is 2010 like! Ja, Z and Bakh are the big ones. We need them back.
Hope this young man heals up.

And now, maybe Myers may be out too.
The good news is that the last part of the season will have some nice players ready with good backups behind them.

Z isn't coming back this year. Jaire appears to be out for awhile. David B will be back but several games later. Lots of injuries among blue-chip players.
Fingers crossed.

That leaves a lot of snaps for Garvin. P. and Gary need to get off the field from time to time. The only other OLB on the active roster is La'Darius Hamilton who they signed off Tampa's PS a couple weeks ago. I think he's been a healthy scratch every week.
Packers may be forced to continue experimenting with Burks and others (maybe J. Smith) on the outside until they can adjust.

Starting to be a Cluster F on defense. I would bet this guy had a history of injuries in college and was injury prone. We have a team full of these suckers.

Simple answers LP; too old, too slow, often injured and runs himself out of too many plays. Plus he hasn't played a snap in about 2 years. He's had his time. Now he will hopefully enjoy a long happy and healthy retirement with his family away from the NFL.
After a successful career it doesn't make sense to risk it all by returning to a very violent sport. Thanks, Since '61
