If GB wins next week, they will have clinched a playoff spot. If they win out, the worst they can get is a 2 seed. If they lose to tampa but beat Detroit, they still get the 3 seed. GB only misses the playoffs if they lose out

Rodgers belongs in the Ugly but some folks posting on this site on previous articles like "Quick Takes" yesterday were going absolutely nuts with anger over his performance. I mean this is a QB that many were calling possibly the best ever 72 hours ago. Rodgers played poorly I get it, but to crucify him like some were was a joke. Most games Rodgers and the receivers are ONLY reason the Packers win. The Packers had 13 drops heading into Buffalo yesterday, they had 7 yesterday. Rodgers has thrown 5 INT, 4 have been tipped. Lets just keep a proper perspective on who got us here at 10-4 in the first place.

Slocum should walk into TT and MM offices Monday morning and resign. 6 blocked punts, FG and Extra Points over a few weeks is beyond ugly. The Packers have continued to carry this putz year after year. ST cost the Packers 10 points yesterday again, the Packers lost by 8. I truly believe the Packers would be better off without Slocum the rest of the way. Can the assistant Ron Zook do any worse???

Lacy carried the ball 15 times, averaged over 6.4 YPC, Starks averaged almost 5 but the Bills never showed they could slow them down. With Rodgers and the WR struggling is it so hard to keep running them? What about the screen pass we saw in New Orleans and weeks after? Again the screen pass was void from the Packers offense. McCarthy told the sideline reporter after halftime that his WR would catch the ball and his QB would throw the ball better in the 2nd half. Was this another case of MM ego getting in the way even with his QB struggling? For the Packers sake lets hope not.

Yes! I too, was at a loss as to why we got away from giving the ball to Lacy. Was his hip hurting too much? The screen pass would have helped a ton against a team that rushes the passer like Buffalo does. When you started seeing every receiver miss catches that hit their hands, you knew it was going to be a bad day. Even on his worst day playing football, I'd want Aaron Rodgers as my QB. Like "Nick" said, many who angry with ARod were calling him the best ever 72 hours ago. Fair-weather fans like that belong in Minnesota. The cameraman showed Slocum's face after some of the Special Teams poor play and he looked like a man who saw his future with this team go out the window.

Recall the debate about MM's coaching ability in the game against the Pats. Most gave him a lot of the credit. I chose to go with the thought that the players just played great - as his coaching calls over the years have been called into question, I wasn't prepared to say that he gets most of the credit for one game.

Well, here we have the opposite. Offense played terribly. Mostly on Rodgers. He plays great - we win. He plays poorly - we lose. MM just adds to that a bit either way. And yesterday was another example of that. Overall, his calls come into question much more often than a great coach's calls should.

I will give credit to Capers. I was on the fire him bandwagon but he does seem to have put the D together. Not great, but solid enough. Recent exception is the Falcon game where they almost self destructed.
Slocum - there just doesn't seem to be any justification why he is still around. How many years does this go on? Crosby almost got cut but they lit a fire under him and it worked. Why should they do less with a coach?

Maybe there is some good to come out of this. As Nelson said, you have to show up every week. I wouldn't be surprised if we found out the team was out partying Sat night. In fact, I would feel better if we did find that out. That's something easy to correct.

This team will live/die - by Rodgers. Yesterday, it was by Nelson too. That one drop could have been the game. What are the odds of this happening again? Probably not. So let's just shake this off. Beat Tampa. CRUSH DETROIT to send a message to all.

I think that Slocum must be married to MM's sister. Why else would he stay around? Say, didn't MM bring in some special teams guru to assist Slocum this year? Is he still around? Maybe fire him, at least. No sense paying 2 guys to come up with this lousy performance.

Aaron Rodgers is this team. When he plays lights out, they win. When he sucks, they suck. MM and TT have been riding this guys arm for years.

Rodgers still needs to show he can overcome adversity. Brady beat these guys handily in Buffalo. Manning had a terrible game against them, too, but he fed the ball to his backs and his team won.

Yes, everyone has off days, but Rodgers played like Cutler yesterday. Maybe worse than Cutler. I thought his judgment, demeanor and leadership were lacking. Didn't look or play like an mvp, much less the greatest. All that talk was premature. I'd say MM needs to give him a good kick in the ass, but that might be counter-productive with Rodgers.

And for the record, the guy I want when my team is down by six with a minute on the clock is Bart Starr. You could make a case for Montana. I don't think Rodgers is in the conversation yet.

I AGREE!! GB was 2 passes from winning that game, 1 was dropped by Jordy. There was a Huge 1st down that was completed, & CALLED BACK!, Remember?? Those little things, are really Big Things that control outcomes. I don't care what AR's stats were yesterday, He didn't have that Bad of a game, IMO. Too many Back Shoulders?? I don't put that on AR. The only Big Mistake that AR made was throwing to Cobb instead of Jordy. Nelson was wide open by 30 yards. Those 2 passes alone would have won the game. Not AR's normal showing, but hardly a Bad Game. In this case AR's stats don't tell the whole story. LVT

Exactly. With the dropped passes, misreading coverage on the back shoulder throws and poor route running, the WR's shoulder most of the blame for this loss, that much is indisputable by anyone who knows anything about football.

I've heard it said that 90% of the plays give Rodgers the run/pass option. I'm not sure if thats true, but if it is, the coach needed to stop giving that option and call straight running plays.

All of this said, if special teams dont allow a punt return for a TD and allow a blocked FG, the Packers win.

I would say the analysis is spot on. The troubling aspect of this game is how it was lost. I didn't have a problem with the fact that Rodgers threw the ball more than the team ran it. The biggest flaw to the approach was i the fact that McCarthy/Rodgers insisted on throwing the ball downfield against a defensive structure known to give the Packer offense trouble. The Packers, once again, played in to the defense's hands. After the 1st Quarter Rodgers had a completion percentage of 11 on throws beyond the line to gain. On throws short of the line to gain he was 66%. After the second quarter, Rodgers was 25% on throws beyond the line to gain and 42% under the line to gain. At the half, Rodgers was 15% on throws over the line to gain and 50% on throws under the line to gain. This is the telling statistic and the one that frustrates viewers. Clearly, Rodgers was finding more success on short completions. In the 3rd quarter the Packers again decdied to push the ball vertical and again, Rodgers had a 25% completion rate. The statistical outlier was that he was 100% on throws short of the line to gain but it was on 1 pass to Quarless on a 3rd and 7 in which Quarless caught the ball 1 yd. beyond the line of scrimmage and got the rest via YAC. I threw that completion out. In the 4th quarter, Rodgers was 33% on throws beyond the line to gain and 80% on throws under the line to gain. Excluding the 3rd quarter, Rodgers was 23% on throws in the air traveling beyond the first down line to gain and 62% on throws in the air caught in front of the line to gain On passes caught within 1-5 yds from the LOS, the Packers racked up 100 yards in after catch running on 8 catches for an average of 12.5. yards after catch. Moral of the story....push the ball in to coverage and bad things happen.

And this has happened before. It's not surprising that Jim Schwartz threw those looks at Rodgers. Defensive Coordinators are wise to challenge the Packers to attack the middle of the field knowing that Rodgers is likely to ignore the checkdown or McCarthy will abandon the run or both.

Sounds like a rigid failure to adjust to what the defense is giving you. Most of the Packers losses (offensively contributed) under Arodge and Mashed Potato Mike come from beating themselves by banging their head against a wall and not adjusting...

Slocum has never fielded a ST unit that ranked better than 25th in his entire tenure with the Packers. LAst year injuries were the convenient excuse for ol Shawn. With very few injuries this year whats his excuse going to be? Lord knows there is one since he will probably keep his job..again! Is there any other coordinator in the history of the NFL that has consistently been this bad only to keep the job year after year? "Slocum has the most secure job in American sports" ST lost this game today, Arodge the WRs were terribly off their game but they were still in a position to win. 4 penalties, a blocked kick and giving up the punt return were the ultimate deciding factor. Tackle Thigpen and Packers win by 1 point according to the box score. Thanks for another year of shitty starting field position for the Pack and great field position for the opposition, Shawn Slocum! If its one thing you are it's consistent! Consistent at having shitty special teams performances year in and year out with no semblance of accountability whatsoever!

Once again, put down the pipe. The KC game was 2 years ago when they went 15-1 and had no running game. They will make the adjustments and the way this o-line is playing they'll win the next 2. Then off to the post season. It'll be fun.

Our Special Teams haven't been anything more than average since Desmond Howard was suiting up for the Green & Gold. Its simply astonishing that Slocum has lasted this long given how bad we've been in this department. Amazing.

- We haven't had a punt returner that has scared opponents since I don't know when. Cobb flashed some brilliance, but Micah Hyde scares nobody.

- Same with Dujuan Harris. If I had my way I'd let ever single kick-off go through the end zone. Starting at the 20 is almost a victory at this point.

- Crosby has had a good year.......when his kicks make it over the opposing teams D line. Which is not a gimme on either extra points (astonishingly) or FG's.

- Masthay is having an average season at best. He has shown flashes, but this year he is below average.

- Our kick/punt return always give me heart-burn.
