Bart Starr wrote Brett Favre after every game

There have been many touching tributes to Bart Starr over the last few days that have illuminated the man's character, but this story from Brett Favre truly captures what a special man Starr was.

Starr wrote Favre after every game. Every. Single. Game.

For the record, Brett Favre played in a lot of games.

This is just incredible.

Such a magnificent man. I'm so glad he was drafted by the Packers and was part of the Packers family and heritage. Starr and Lombardi are the perfect face of the franchise. The Mount Rushmore of the Packers, for me, are Lombardi, Starr, Lambeau and..... It would be a coin filp for the fourth ( Nitschke, Favre, Hudson, Kramer, Wolf, etc .

Unbelievable. The pic of the two of them I have from a few years ago now is more priceless. Disappointed however that a pic of all three (fill in name here) never materialized. Lost opportunity.

As fans, we are very fortunate to have such great personalities over the years to root for. Also, after so many horrendous years it's fitting to have the two great dynasties of Starr and Favre make a connection.

Just when I thought I couldn't think more highly of Starr I find out about this. A man takes a little bit of time out of his day to write another man a letter.... after EVERY game. Wow just wow.

I think it speaks VOLUMES about what Starr thought of the Packers Organization and people.

I'd also hope it gives some of the Favre haters something to think about as well.

Starr was a GREAT man and one of my all-time favorites even though slightly before my time. What a great last name!

They should have never hired Starr to be the Packers head coach with almost zero experience. However, I watched him clearly becoming a better coach each and every season. When they finally fired him I was so pissed off as he had become a very good coach. The Packer organization and Executive Committee always seemingly screwed everything up back then.

Favre will always be my all-time favorite! What he meant to the Packers organization. How he brought the team up from the dregs of the NFL. Yes, because of Favre Lambeau Field is what it is today. The Packers is no longer a laughing stock in the NFL. No longer one of the Bay of Pigs.

Watching the retirement video of Favre with Starr brought a tear to my eye. We are so blessed to have men like Starr, Favre, and Rodgers be part of the Packer history. Would love to get ahold of that photo with all three of them in it.

Bart Starr took over after the Dan Devine shitshow. The Packers gave up how many high draft picks for a washed up Hadel? That trade set the Pack back for years.

How lucky we are as fans to have had three QBs of such high caliber. Start farve and Rodgers are all men who have everything to lead this franchise. Dedication beyond all words from Bart to the other two men. He will be missed and adored by many for as long as the history of the Packers is never forgotten. I don't think it will be... Many players understand the history and tradition of being a Packer.

What a wonderful man! What a great leader. I had the privilege of meeting Bart at a fantasy camp over 25 years ago. Bart was the leader of the Pack, you could just tell the respect his teammates showed him. And I was fortunate to catch a few passes from Bart. I was shaking in my boots because it was sooooo cool.

My wife saw Bart Starr at a speaking engagement and had no idea who he was. People had packer memobrila so she wondered if that was someone important, knowing I had been a lifelong Packer fan. He took the time to sign an autograph even though he was told he was late for his speech, such a great man.
