Rodgers did well in a great system. Too bad he thinks that he is the center of the universe. I hope he leaves and that we pick up a couple draft choices.

No consultant is going to come up with a way to make our Diva happy.

Rodgers has not made a public statement. When this is all over and done he can and will claim that those comments were not his. that's the way he operates.

It is a PUBLIC STANCE that has not been refuted. I get what you're saying, John, but he's had ample opportunities to deny the content of what was reported, and AR has not.

I agree GG but Rodgers being Rodgers he very well could take the approach that he has never made those statements and 'loves' GB and wants to play the rest of his career here. We already know that LF and the FO are stepping on body parts to save face and to try accommodating Rodgers. Rodgers very well could be coming back to play for GB.

Regardless if he does come back I will always cheer and support the Packers, however I will never be a Rodgers fan again. I do not like what he has done and he not only was very deliberate and cunning, but he planned this for a whole year since Love was drafted. His motivation for extracting some form of revenge was very high. The question is has it played out enough for his enjoyment and now he is ready to come back, or has he made up his mind he is not coming back?

I'm all in on the new Love era! Let's trade the diva and watch Love grow into the QB position as the Packer QB. I am ready for the upside and downside of the pendulum to Love playing under center all year in 2021.

I know you get it, KnockTheSnotOutOfYou. I've also been around long enough to see how AR uses the media in his communications.

Too many boxes checked. As I said that morning, before Day 2 of the draft began, it looked like the trade was already made, in principle, prior to the draft. He's very likely a Bronco.

He is engaged to a woman from Boulder, Colorado. He is moving on with his life, leaving the Packers to do what they will, with what they will get in return. He's out.

Randall Cobb will be a cap casualty in HOU and will probably make his way to DEN to play with AR. I'm curious to know what happens in camp with Allen Lazard... will he ball out to win a roster spot... or, ...??? Does he try to follow AR???

DEN trading for Bridgewater in a total head scratcher the night before the draft was a tell. Then the QB needy Broncos pass on Fields at #9 to take Surtain II...

Fans can believe what they want - and I do not begrudge anyone wanting AR to stay in GB, because I do too. This just looks to me like a done deal. That was a very pointed statement that came out hours before the draft. That was also one hell of a walk back by Schefter on the Dan Patrick Show. None of it was refuted by AR.

False trade rumors evaporate into the ether. This one has only picked up steam. Believe what you want, my friends and fellow Packer fans. I've only tried to point this stuff out.

We'll see.

That makes no sense. If they KNEW that there would be no hard stance, they give him the keys to the kingdom because there is no transition plan.

More likely, it's entirely unknown whether Love will fulfill his potential... Or be Kizer 2.0 and Hundley 3.0.

So they are hedging bets to go year to year until they can tell.

Offseason reports are nonsense, let's see him camp.

I agree that off season reports are nonsense. I have been posting exactly that since this nonsense began with Schefter's report on Day 1 of the draft. I also believe that preseason play is nonsense. All is does is show us how are 2nd, 3rd, and 4th stringers play against the other teams 2nd, 3rd and 4th stringers.

Out of the 53, now 55 players who make the team the coaching staffs already know at least 42-46 players who will be on the team. After that it's just a matter of who gets on the roster and who makes it to the PS out of the remaining 40-45 players in camp. Thanks, Since '61

Since'61, you gotta point us in the direct of these reports.

This sounds like wild speculation made by a writer who doesn't have any direct info, but read that Gute said "Love has a long way to go" and let his imagination run wild.

One thing Love definitely has is an arm.

No, they don't, Rebecca. You're right about the all caps for emphasis. Sorry.

I don't think the logic fails, at all. If I did, there would be no way I would say anything. I could just as easily say your logic fails, neener- neener... that Aaron Rodgers is going to back down from his stance, or a stance that was put out there regarding his own tenure with the Packers. Let's be real here. AR would slap that shit silly if he felt differently.

Is it your logic that Rodgers is going to change his mind? Why? Because we add more years or money to a contract to hold him in Green Bay, where he apparently does not want to play?

What logic sounds more off, Rebecca? This is not personal btw. Is it that he wants to chase a SB in DEN like Peyton Manning did? Closer to his new family that he is about to build? Or, is it that he and his movie star fiancé - he alone already worth hundreds of millions of dollars - are waiting on that right deal to be drawn up by the Packers front office, ready to return to Green Bay, Wisconsin?

My opinion is backed by substance. People simply don't want to accept the substance that exists in this shit storm. Personally, I can't blame anyone for not wanting to acknowledge this idea that Aaron Rodgers, fresh off an MVP season, with his Packers team poised to win it all, would want out.

That is one hell of a stretch. I get it. I know it. I understand that. This notion or thought was tough for me to accept, but there are too many signs indicating otherwise, that AR is likely to not return to the Packers this season.

There is no ill intent there with my sharing of my own opinions. Quite the opposite, actually. Do you think any of this is easy? Holy crap. I hate it, quite frankly, and spent a lot of energy trying to soften the blow, for you & other friends here, of his possibly playing elsewhere this season.

Regardless, I do see some positives for the Packers, should this trade become reality.

There was speculation at one point that the Packers would deal ARod for a bunch of draft capital, then turn around and deal Love and most of that capital for Watson. My first thought was of all those Bears fans who were pissed because the Bears passed on Watson in the first place, then couldn't land him in trade, who would have to watch him own the division for the next 10+ years. It makes a Packer fan smile...

Realistically, Watson's a PR bomb that the Packers won't touch with a 10-foot pole.

Great listen Aaron. So much of the AR situation focus was on the communication (or lack thereof) from the Packers. It is clear from what was discussed that the Packers have a way of doing things and it is ruthlessly business like. This has been successful but is conflicting with the new realities of dealing with today’s players. After all, the players are all gen x, millennials, and gen z and all that goes with it. I would argue that the current Packers brain trust is incapable of dealing in this new environment. I would also say that we don’t want them to (other than MLF who IS capable). Your virtues are often your vices. I want my scouting, salary cap department, and GM to be on the spectrum, almost Rainman-like in their football knowledge and lack of people skills. But this means Murphy needs another direct report on the same level as Gute and Ball who’s responsible for off the charts communication and openness with the players.

It doesn’t matter what sport, professional athletes and team management will always have slightly different agendas and perspectives. There will always be friction and some egos. Normally these get overcome.

Personally I don’t really see anything out of the ordinary here except either a thin skinned star or one whom it suits to act as such. Personally I lean to a little of both, but with the latter being the real driver.

Excellent point Doug. Brandt mentioned in one of his recent articles that the Packers are good in talent evaluation but weak in communications and managing relationships. A point person or HR person who knows how to communicate effectively with athletes would go a long way.

There are several consulting firms that specialize in this specific area. But we need the money for title world rather than prioritizing our players. We've seen this before and this will not the last time we will see this happen with this FO and our better players. Thanks, Since '61

It’s a bit different when you have a unique asset who is financially secure or can walk into a job anywhere. Misunderstandings can be smoothed and the risk reduced, but ultimately it is unlikely to help if the two parties hold contradictory interests and objectives.

In most of our lives, realities force compromise and the scale of the impact is not material to the organization. Where it is, and there are legitimate conflicts of interest, now amount of consulting is likely to bring resolution, it just lines consultants pockets.

In this case, I’m pretty sure both sides understand the objectives of the other and feel that they are contrary to their interests. I doubt it’s therefore really about communication at this point, it’s about whether there is a meeting point both can live with and want to. Neither are certain here. Rodgers is able to do as he choses in life and the Packers are obligated to look at the Lesotho of the roster beyond Rodgers and after him.

I really think it's a little naive to think that if Gutey had told Rodgers that they might draft a QB if the board fell right this standoff wouldn't have happened. All that would have done is moved the start of this standoff up a few months. Rodgers holds grudges and we would be right where we are right now.

A courtesy call wouldn't have solved this issue.

johnbutgoyne, The call may not have made a difference however it's a matter of how you conduct your business and your business relationships. In the end the relationship between players and management are personal relationships. Just like the relationships with employees, partners, stakeholders and customers. The money always gets figured out it's the personal relationships and how they are handled that causes the majority of problems for any business. It doesn't matter how much money is involved. A call in the 10 minute window might also have inflamed. It wouldn’t be a discussion but an announcement. Rodgers is aware enough to know that. This is part a device to explain a team unfriendly position in a way that people will latch on to and in part a total red herring.

Agree. This is simply a manipulative maneuver by Rodgers team. His grudges turn into deeply help resentments. They are not at all healthy.

Here is what has been reported and Rodgers has not denied them...

1. He resented MM for not encouraging the 49ers to draft him and it colored their relationship until he pushed MM to be fired...he complained about the Niners taking Smith to MM in QB meetings for years.
2. He has deep resentment for his mom, dad, brother. His parents send him Christmas presents a few years ago...he sent them back, unopened.
3. He was miffed Murphy did not include him in the search for a GM.
4. He called Gutey "GM Jerry" of the Bulls as a slap that Gutey was purposely tearing down the team.
5. He was angry Jordy was allowed to walk. One year later Jordy was cut from the Raiders and retired.
6. Prior to the 2020 draft he was asked if the Pack would pick a QB in the first round. He said "it wouldn't surprise me. And it wouldn't bother me because he's not going to beat me out anyway." Love drafted, Rodgers deeply hot and bothered because Gutey didn't call him...to do what, let Rodgers talk him out of it? Would team Rodgers have leaked it to the press?
7. The Love pick....last summer he said he had "reconciled the pick and had put it behind him." Now it is an issue again that he wants a K that would essentially erase Love from playing in GB.
8. Jake from Whitewater was cut after his deep praise for the journeyman WR and was very upset. Jake went on to the Bills and caught one pass last year.
9. He has let it be rumored he wants Gutey fired. No denials. That is kind of a incendiary charge. If not true why leave in the media?
10. He is now going on Mayne's ESPN show next Monday...two weeks before he is supposed to report in GB. I expect more "beautiful mystery" manipulation.

He loves drama! No wonder his fiancé is a Hollywood actress. Maybe he should move on and take his act Denver. I am concerned he may be cancer in the locker room now, especially if he was lobbying other players to leave with him. Who's playing "GM Jerry" now?

Well if Rodgers doesn't want to play QB anymore. And if he isn't offered the full-time Jeopardy gig (because, really, he was just OK - not great). Then he may have a second career in the WWE as Aaron "THE GRUDGE" Rodgers - with his gimmick being that he doesn't show-up for his matches - but has his manager serve his opponent with breach of contract papers. Of course "THE GRUDGE" requires an entrance song, even in absentia - perhaps "Nobody Does It Better' - Carly Simon? Other suggestions?

I'll be climbing out of this rabbit hole for now - while awaiting the June tsunami. However from all that I've read and listened to - the molotov cocktail that the Rodgers camp tossed on draft day - was mainly because Packers management are not good at phone check-ins and writing "Thinking of You" cards. And for this Packers nation has been set ablaze! However, all things considered, I believe that Rodgers is due the professional courtesy of one last missive - a Farewell card - which I will gladly sign.
