Aaron Rodgers on track to play vs Bears

The Packers starting quarterback indicated he received "good news" from scans of his ribs on Monday.

Packers fans pining for Jordan Love to get a start in 2022 will have to wait.

Speaking with Pat McAfee during his weekly appearance, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers made it clear that he received "good news" from his scans on Monday and is on track to play Sunday vs the Bears.

Rodgers has been dealing with a broken thumb since the team's trip to London back in Week 5 but added a rib injury to the Butcher's Bill after taking two sacks against the Eagles on Sunday.

Rodgers underwent a CT scan and other tests throughout Monday and apparently came out with clearance from team doctor Pat McKenzie.

Head coach Matt LaFleur made it clear on Monday that if Rodgers was cleared medically, he'd get the nod to start. Asked about what message it might send rolling with a banged up Rodgers over a healthy Jordan Love, who had a promising performance in relief of Rodgers on Sunday night, LaFleur indicated he has faith in both of his quarterbacks.

"I don't think that's what we're arguing here," LaFleur said. "It's just, we've got a lot of faith, quite frankly, in both those guys. But you know, Aaron's the starting quarterback. He's battled through a lot throughout the course of his career. It's pretty well documented, and I think he's been able to play at a pretty high level through a lot of different situations. So again, we'll take it one game at a time and make the best decision moving forward."

Should've given way to Love since we are eliminated at least he would gain experience and we get to see some glimpse.

They basically are, and going to the playoffs would only hurt their draft position. I see the Bears game as a toss-up, the Rams game as a W, and everything else as Ls, personally

The Packers have a 2% chance of making the playoffs.

In other words, they aren't making the playoffs.

Hard to give up 500 yards, 363 rushing yards, and 40 points
And cling on to the 2% hope.
No matter who is QB.

I know, i know..i'm not Carrying The G. 😨
But i think there is a fine line between Carrying the G, and being a realist.

It's a crazy, zany world out there my friend.

They've got about the same chance that Loyd had with ms. Samsonite/Swanson. So you're telling me there's a chance??

Thank you Nags for pointing out that inconvenient truth to some of our fellow Cheeseheads. I've never seen fans who were in such a rush to see their team eliminated :)

As if a banged up, over the hill QB known for choking gives them a better chance than the other guy, who has something left in his arm, can actually elude pass rushers and isn’t afraid to step into his throws.

I'm pretty sure my post that you responded to didn't mention anything about the Packers QB situation. But thanks for your input.

They should not play him regardless. We NEED to see more of Love!

Does anyone think that this is where Rodgers' ownership of the Bears ends?

The better question is, was this the time that Rodgers' ownership of MLF and the FO could have ended.

This season is a lost cause regardless. I just hope they move on to Love next year. Rodgers' piss poor attitude has been an issue all fall.

I think we should start Jordan Love like everyone is saying, he should be our starting QB here on out, salary cap be damned, Rodgers went from back to back MVP's to dare i say...useless?

It's no secret that Jordan Love proved himself (on the field) against the Eagles and earned the Packers starting job. We all saw it!!

All 3 minutes and 19 seconds of it.

People i hope understand this is not Lafluer or any one on the coaching staff decision. Does anyone really believe they will sit their 150 million dollar man without his permission. Also do people really believe gute or murphy will admit their mistake and sit him if he can play ? These two clowns have been doing this garbage for years and will continue to until fans don't show up at lambeau anymore and the chances of that are zero percent.

I would like to remind the fans that as much as it looks like Love should start there's one very good reason why Rodgers will play if he's healthy: he earns $2.9 million dollars every time he's on the active roster. There are five games left. So he's owed about $14 million if he plays or not. Like it or not, this is professional football and money plays a big factor in these kinds of decisions. $14 million on the bench is a tough pill to swallow just to produce playing time for the backup.

But really does Rodgers deserve to be benched? Zac Wilson deserved to be benched but not Rodgers. I'm not a Rodgers fan but having him sit is really fiscally irresponsible and could be another sore point in a very disappointing season.

If I understand correctly, he will be paid the 14 mil regardless of if he plays. I think Love should play, because we will know more about him if he does and it will inform our offseason decision. Why would we play Rodgers, when that woudl steal valuable playing time for Love and do nothing for the team's future or the impending rebuild?

As I said. For any of you, it is only money. Don't cry when ACR left Packers in cap hell and he will be laughing at Packers after he retires. His goal is that, after his retirement, the Packers sink to the bottom, so that he remains relevant as the last great QB that played for the Packers.

Terrific syntax Croat, getting close to an American with this one. I don't think he has much to say about achieving that abserb goal. Gutenberg and MLF and then others will determine that.

Which begs the question of why the hell did management agree to the contract in the offseason to begin with?

No. I'm all for ACR to play vs Bears. More he is the starter, better the position Packers will have in the draft. I know that win vs Bears means a lot to Packers nation, but it will be rocky game. Outcome of that game is still unknown.

If we start Love, we will only win 2 games at most I think with the defense that we have...might as well see what we have in him. I get where you're coming from, though

I don't predict anything but it is a tough spot to be in as a fan. I want to see them play juuuuuuuust well enough to make the game interesting but still lose so that we can draft high next year. And that's before I heard about this winningest NFL franchise record they could break.... I think I'll just try to enjoy the game that is played on Sunday.

This season wasn’t about trying to win a championship or even football games, it was the Aaron Rodgers Last Dance pt III Farewell Tour with Special Guests the Green Bay Packers and various NFL Teams. So naturally, the show must go on and Aaron Rodgers must play.

Although local fans have been grumbling about Rodgers’ performances, fans elsewhere have been very pleased with the shows. The next date is in Chicago and i have the suspicion that Chicago fans will also leave the show very happy.

He doesn’t even let the team announce who will start. He goes on Putz McTankTop’s show and preempts them. What an arrogant d-bag this guy has become. I wish Gute would have the cojones to put him on IR.

Jordan Love is a very easy going and amicable person at least on the surface & in public. However, he is also an elite competitor (has to be to perform at that level), and I just have to believe deep inside a fire is burning over crap like this where Rodgers is out in the press making statements like he will be playing preempting the team. Rodgers does not say he is starting just that he is playing. While Love will never acknowledge it Rodgers behavior just has to be motivation fueling Love's desire to once again outperform Rodgers like he did Sunday night against Philly with over a 146.0 rating. Whether Rodgers starts Love has already planted the seed he very likely will be sub-planting Rodgers on the GBP's this offseason. Everyone has to understand Rodgers performance is deteriorating, while Jordan's is ascending game after game week after week for a number of years yet. Rodgers is a trooper and will leave it all on the field, but he can no longer run, and he is more injury prone with injuries piling up on him. I'm confident the 15-year younger Love will get his opportunities one way or another this season just as I am confident that even if he gets "3 minutes & 9 seconds of playing time a game' the rest of the year the talent will be on full display repeatedly game after game. The future for one Jordan Love looks very promising! I love the humble, quiet, and respectful person/player. Refreshing after Rodgers behavior for a number of years.

As I correctly remember, in my first post here after ACR announced by Shaefter (or what else is his name) that he would never ever play for Packers I wrote in short: "Grant him what he wish!"

From the moment I heard his press conference before the training camp 2021, I lost all of the respect for Mark Murphy, BG and MLF. Because no one of them reacted on that shits he was putting on them and the franchisr I support and care. BG, with his 2021 & 2022 draft restored part of that respect (he was drafting for the future, not for now). After I learned from public announcements and some more informed posters here who is the one who makes final decisions for Packers football operations my opinion vs BG change completely. I feel sorry for him, as he has empty title that makes him is guilty for many Packers fan regarding this mess Packers are in. And, do not forget that he was called from ACR as main culprit for his unsatisfaction.

Packers fans were manipulated by ACR for way to long to accept this. My advantage is that I'm far far away from US and may be in position (because of that) to see little bit more clear what that person is doing.

Please, remember this next sentence: "You are the great person when you leave behind you better person in any sight that you were. So help your heir to become better than you. And you'll be remember forever!"
