New Orleans Saints restricted free safety Usama Young will sign his one-year tender, Andy Simms, Young's agent, has announced.

Chosen in the third-round (66th overall) out of Kent State by the Saints in 2007, Young was not eligible for unrestricted free agency, and was tendered at the "Original Round" level. With three accrued seasons, Young's base salary in 2010 will be $1.101 million dollars.

A starter in three of his 41 games for the Saints, Young has 83 tackles and three interceptions, including 31 on special teams. Young led the Saints in special teams tackles in 2007 and 2008.

With veteran Darren Sharper currently on the free agent market, and recovering from knee surgery, Young currently has the inside track for the Saints' starting free safety job in 2010.
