Redskins Interested in Eric Berry

Talk is heating up that the Washington Redskins are contemplating using the fourth overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft on Tennessee safety Eric Berry.

Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network reports that at least two NFL teams are adjusting their draft boards to reflect Berry going to the Redskins with the fourth pick, while Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post is citing sources who insist "The Skins thing is real".

While it wouldn't surprise me--Berry is that good--I'm not sure the talk is anything more than the Redskins trying to get someone to trade up to the 4th slot so they can acquire additional picks in rounds two and/or three.

The Redskins are in dire need of a left tackle, and with six available in round one, and only four draft choices overall, they may be interested in swapping first-round picks with the Cleveland Browns, and picking up some of the Browns multiple picks in rounds three and five. (The Browns have three picks in each of those rounds.)

If the Redskins do take Eric Berry with the fourth pick, it would be the third time since 2004 where the 'Skins took a safety with a Top 6 pick. (Sean Taylor, 2004; LaRon Landry, 2007)
