The Green Bay Packers announced the signing of linebacker Maurice Simpkins off the practice squad.

Rookie safety Morgan Burnett (knee) has been placed on injured reserve.

An undrafted rookie from Coastal Carolina, the 6-3, 236-pound Simpkins had 13 tackles for the Packers during the pre-season, including a team-high 5 tackles on special teams.

Linebacker Johnny Williams has replaced Simpkins on the practice squad.
