Bills Activate TE Shawn Nelson

The Buffalo Bills announced the activation of tight end Shawn Nelson to the active roster.

Nelson served a four-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy, and was unavailable to play in Sunday's loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars due to a groin injury.

To make room on the 53-man roster, the Bills have waived linebacker Chris Ellis.

A third-round pick (72nd overall) in the 2008 NFL Draft out of Virginia Tech, Ellis (6-5, 267) started one of his 15 games for the Bills over the last 2+ seasons, totaling 13 tackles and a quarterback sack, which came this season and has him currently tied with five other Bills for the team lead.
