Scott Tolzien Signs With the Indianapolis Colts

Aaron Rodgers' former backup will leave to be Andrew Luck's backup in Indy.

From Colts owner Jim Irsay:

The Packers are left with last year's 5th round selection, Brett Hundley, as Aaron Rodgers' primary backup. Mike McCarthy spoke glowingly of Hundley's potential at the Scouting Combine last month.

Hundley will undoubtedly be given every chance to build on his solid showing in preseason last year.

Dang it. I wanted him one more year. Colts seem like an odd choice.

They don't have a backup after releasing Hasselbeck and Freeman. Makes sense in that he doesn't have a draft pick that the team apparently loves to compete with like he would in Green Bay.

Yeah. I just thought he had progressed enough to have a shot at starting for a qb-needy team.

Probably good move for all. Packers have Hundley and will draft another. Colts get a backup to Luck who seems often injured. Tolzien has the chance to play more than with the Packers...

No surprise here. Ted didn't trade up last year so Hundley could languish as the 3rd stringer. Good luck to Tolzien.

Kind of surprising but Hundley looked damn good last year. Best looking prospect we have had in recent memory. Guess we won't be carrying 3 QBs this year, so that's a good thing.

4th team for Tolzien. If he does get to play in Indy he will learn to run for his life behind their OL. I wish well. Thanks, Since '61

I thought Denver was a more likely spot for him until they signed Sanchez.
Then I was thinking Cleveland.
I'm mildly surprised.
Good luck to him at any rate.

Good Luck Scott... Andrew is very often injured. Show to NFL that you are starting caliber... All the best for the future and thanks for helping Packers to be better...

Good luck to Tolzien, but atleast Hundley has had a year to assimilate into the system and appears to be semi-competent. Is this worth a comp pick, or no?

Has anyone seen the dollar figures? The more the better for next years comp picks. Casey Hayward may bring us a 4 or 5 with his 15 million dollar contract.

Colts like Badger back-ups (Sorgi).

The Packers need to figure out whether Hundley is Rodgers' eventual replacement or merely trade bait. Hasselbeck and Brunel were excellent players, but not quite superstars. Brooks was solid.

What if Hundley is a potential superstar. If that's the case, they have to keep him and eventually resign him.

It sucks that we develop all these QBs and get nothing for them. Patriots always seem to get something for their backups even though they are as good or worse than ours.

I feel bad for Scott having to go onto just another backup role. If he had held out for just a bit longer he would QB1 in Denver right now.
