Rodgers Watch

Goal to go from the Lions 10 yard line, Rodgers takes the snap. Not finding anyone on his preliminary read, Rodgers buys time in and then out of the pocket. Scrambling to his left, he sees James Jones cutting across the defense just beyond the goal line. Jones is triangulated between three defenders, but an amazing, laser-like throw would no doubt produce a touchdown. Of course, anything less than a perfect throw would most likely result in an interception. But there Jones is - ready for an "Oh-My-God-Did-You-See-That!?" touchdown pass that would no doubt wow onlookers everywhere and send the NFL punditry class all atwitter at the amazing prowess of a young quarterback with the steely resolve and ability to make such a throw.

So what does Aaron Rodgers choose to do? He throws the ball away. It's only second down.

And somewhere, Ted Thompson is smiling.

Meanwhile in the swamps of New Jersey, some old man badly underthrows Bubba Franks and is picked off by Brandon Meriweather, leading up a Patriots touchdown.

I am very interested to see the Dallas game. We'll truly see how well the McCarthy system plays against that team because Rodgers will run the system. Favre never played well against Dallas. To BratsNBeerGuy, you know BF has to be thinking to himself right now "what the snot am I doing here"

If you listen to Rodgers after game interview he said he was actually throwing the ball to Jennings who was wide open waving his hands in the corner of the end zone.

ctpack, you're thinking of a different play, once that actually resulted in a TD.

ctpack - you're thinking of a different play, albeit in the same endzone ;)

Yeah, and it's still not as much fun to watch.

But it is fun to win.

I met you breifly at the 2nd day of the the draft up on the balcony. This s a great site and I agree with alot of your points .Rodgers is better for the Packers in the long run and lets face it this defence is not ready to win the Superbowl this year.Keep up the great work.

I love this new packers team. The biggest difference between the old (Favre) Packers and the new (Rodgers) Packers -- you can rely on them. Rodgers is that plain-jane girlfriend who you know will never cheat on you, Favre was that fiesty temptation that you could never trust when you needed to. If we want rings on our fingers -- we need plain-jane.

ctpack - Glad you found the site! And glad my old fashioned, hand shaking promotion worked :) As for the defense: It's way too early in the year to say anything comprehensive about the defense's ability to get the Packers to the Super Bowl. It got them to the NFC Championship. Now, can improvements be made? Of course. Let's see how it plays out...
