Rodgers Practices for First Time Since Breaking Collarbone

Packer fans rejoiced, Aaron Rodgers participated in all the drills open to the media today. While this is a good sign in Rodgers's recovery, it remains unclear if Rodgers will be cleared to play in Thursdays game in Detroit.

Please play Aaron. We're lost without you.

Oh, and OL - IF he plays and if you let him get sacked AT ALL, you're all fired.

I really wish he plays, but I'd be shocked. If the collarbone isn't 100% healed, every routine tackle/take down/hit could easily re-break it.

He'd have to play ultra conservatively - no scrambling or running, throwing it away at the slightest hint of pressure. And I just don't know if he'd be effective like that.

The thing that sticks in my mind is, would the doctors allow him to practice if he wasn't ready?

Maybe? Throwing is one thing. Getting hit is another.

Yeah, that is true.

I just think that he has to be very close to 100% for him to even practice.

My gut is telling me right now that he won't play Thursday. But I am really looking forward to see what info comes out today.

If he does play, I really hope it gives the entire team the lift it has been needing.

i agree. i can't even see him coming back for the falcons game. he said it was a 6-8 week injury. the cowboys game on 12/15 is a day shy of 6 weeks. i can see him coming back for that game if he's a quick healer

If he can practice/throw pain free he should play, the risk of re-injury is the same as the initial injury, He was the most sacked QB last season but somehow no broken collar bone in any of those "sacks" and hits.... or he sits out the rest of the year as we tank and look for higher draft status.

What are you talking about? Not if the bone isn't completely healed.

Not true at all. Throwing pain free is a step in the process, but until the bone completely calcifies, he's at an increased risk for re-injury.

Given that we have the next Troy Aikman/Tom Brady, I really don't seen any reason to bring back Aaron Rodgers this upcoming Thursday or maybe ever. I bet he has lots of trade value. We could surround the next Troy Aikman/Tom Brady with even greater talent dammit!!!

If I'm MM and the Packers, I activate Rodgers. The Lions will be psyched out just with him suited up and standing on the sidelines. Have him out there pregame tossing bullets 40 yards downfield. The Lions are currently watching game film on Flynn, with this shitty preparing team the Lions usually are, it'll mess em up good.

1.Rodgers on the field would instantly improve the run game.
If he can hand off and throw quickies out of shotgun or 3 step drops - play him.

2.If 12 plays I think it would actually improve MM's play calling... HE WOULD HAVE TO RUN SHORTER ROUTES (SLANTS!!!!) AND USE HIS RB'S AND TE'S, RIGHT?!

3.That all being said - absolutely zero chance in hell that 12 plays. Everyone tells me how smart GB's management is. Would they really even consider bringing back the $100+ mil man early??? Especially considering this is not a Super Bowl type of season.

4.Lions win this game regardless if 12 plays or not... so.... let him rest another 10 days. Just have to pray that the Pack can win their last 4 and the Bears lose one more (other than Pack game) and the Lions lose 2 more somewhere. 9-6-1 will have to do.

5.Damn, that Cincy collapse looks huge right about now.

6.Did they really NOT beat the Vikings at home? Did that actually happen? Damn.

I agree. Matter of fact if the Lions win the pack season is probably over unless they collapse and Rogers resurrects this team. One thing we know, they have to win the division. No opportunity for wild card that's out.
The big question, do they bring him back after the Lions or let him fully recover thinking season over?

Careful Cow. With your #2 point.

'If 12 plays I think it would actually improve MM’s play calling… HE WOULD HAVE TO RUN SHORTER ROUTES (SLANTS!!!!) AND USE HIS RB’S AND TE’S, RIGHT?'

I got scolded earlier for suggesting that they use the RB's in the passing game.

But I completely agree with you on this point. They need to find ways to use the RB's and TE's more in the passing game. IMO, the RB's need to be included a lot more in the passing game.

Time to attack the entire field, not just downfield...

This Rodgers injury could be a giant blessing in disguise. The Packers know exactly where there weaknesses are and have a chance to improve upon them. This is truly a case who is the MVP on any team in the league. No player in the league is as important to his team than Rodgers. This 4 game winless streak proves it without a shadow of a doubt.

Man every time I read one of your posts you actually suck more than the previous ones. Before all the injuries this team was one of the favorites to win it all. This Lions game is huge of course and I can see the Pack winning it. The Lions seem to implode with no real leadership. If they can pull out the div in the end and get everyone back but Finley, they can beat anyone. They proved it before and you proved your total lack of faith in what can happen if a team just gets in.

I see no possible scenario in which the Packers win.

-Packers just tied the Vikings at home. THE VIKINGS!
-Tampa needed 4 picks and a blocked punt to beat the Lions by 3.
-Tampa is better than the Packers right now.
-Packers suck at tackling running backs.
-Packers suck at covering receivers.
-Packers suck at pass protection.
-Lions have a very solid running back group.
-Lions have Mega-fucking-tron.
-Lions have the best DL in the division (which Sitton just pissed off).
-Packers will need at least 40 points to win.
-Packers have scored 52 points TOTAL OVER THE LAST 3 ENTIRE GAMES!

38-10 Lions.

Now I feel better. You were so wrong when the season started and I can see you going down in flames again. Peyton Manning can't throw the ball down field, NE defense isn't much, Seattle lost Browner, Brees is small, Kapenick isn't proven and you picked the Lions by 28. Rodgers beats em all.

Teddy Tea Bag, time to quit over paying for your below average players ( draft picks) Burrnett, Hawk, Brad Jones, Ect. You got lucky with Jennings saving you 10 mil. Let Raji walk, don't over pay for shields, he's average DB at best looks better than he is because he fellow secondary teammates suck soo bad. Bring in some free agents that have a NFL history behind them. Time for some aggressive, hard hitting football players who go at full speed and don't rely on others to make plays.
And Murphy, just what the hell do you do anyway? You work for the Packers not the NFL office. Harlan worked hard with the GM to bring in talent and improve the team. Coming from the Redskins you should be all for bringing in good proven talent. Your team won a couple of SB's with that formula. Something Wong, very Wong!

Absolutely do not want Rodgers to play if not completely healed against the down right dirty lions. would rather lose the game and in turn the entire season then lose Rogers on a stupid hit by Suh. it's not worth it and we would be incredibly stupid to allow it to happen and rest the future of the franchise.

fine.

deal.

but if (when) the Lions win by more than 14 you have to put in writing...

"Cow was right - this Packer team is horrible".

So...

-Packer win and I'm gone.
-Packer loss by 14 or less = nothing happens.
-Packer loss by more than 14 means you gotta write it.

14 points. You are giving quite a window. Very generous of you. I will take that bet. Understand its not necessarily you comments that bug me. You do have some occasional good points. Its the constant complaining. I've been reading this blog for three years and have never, not once read anything positive from you. If you get this worked up over all aspects of life, not just packers you must be an absolute joy to be around. A real fan is someone who roots for there team no matter how much they suck. Yes this is not the 2010 team. They probably won't win in the play offs. We all know that. Get over it. I still put on my green and gold cheer on Sunday bitch on Monday. And then move on.

Around 1996 or so?

I was born into this, bub.

Just because I'm pissed at this shitty team doesn't mean I don't love them.

I think my brother's an asshole but I still love the guy.

And I went through the '80's AND the '70's.

I was born in Illinois to a family of turn coat bears fans. Were awesome when we win fire every body when we suck. I've all green and gold since could spell football. I bet if there were internet blogs in the 80's you'd have been all over them bitchin. Don't think I don't curse at the TV every time the team does something stupid. I have to listen to idiot vikings fans every year that if they win two games in a row they are buying Superbowl tickets. If they lose one fire everybody. I come on this site to enjoy conversations with real, sane fans. You wanna change the bet? Fine the pack win you are gone. So I can enjoy this great site. They lose I will declare you are right, they suck. ( which I never denied) and I'll be done here. What ever points spread you want. Your a fan I'm a fan. I respect that. I just can't deal with all the bitchin bub. You are not alone. You just stand out. Loud.
