Report: Packers WR Jordy Nelson Has Offseason Hip Surgery

News coming out of the NFC Coaches Breakfast on Wednesday at the league's owners meeting is that Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson had offseason knee surgery:

From indications, it would not appear that Nelson suffered a serious injury. The surgery was reportedly not related to the procedure he had on his knee in 2013.

Depending on when exactly the surgery took place and his timeframe recovery, Nelson should be able to take part in the Packers' offseason workout program starting Apr. 20, which is more than two months after the Pro Bowl.

Nelson has workout bonuses totaling $500,000 from 2015 to 2018, so his attendance and participation are incentivized.

UPDATE: Silverstein has clarified that offseason surgery took place on Nelson's hip:

Off-Topic REPORT:

Packers have signed DB Kyle Sebetic who's a 5'11", 194-pound safety/corner. He was a rookie in 2014 and spent most of training camp with the New York Giants; he was cut late in camp, but came back to spend a week on the Giants' practice squad in November before being released again.

Sebetic worked out at the inaugural NFL Veteran Combine over the weekend, and apparently TT saw enough promise in him to offer him a spot on the 90-man roster. Also of note is that his hometown is Pleasant Prairie, so it's kind of a homecoming for him.

Sebetic's Pro Day in 2014 (at Toledo University) showed some intriguing numbers. He ran a 4.51 40-yard dash with a 36.5-inch vertical and a 6.69 3-cone time (numbers from NFL Draft Scout). His 3-cone time is better than all but one defensive back who worked out at the 2015 NFL Scouting Combine so he has that going for him.
