Report: Packers Place Jamari Lattimore on I.R., Promote Chris Banjo

The Packers linebacker has reportedly been placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury, ending his season.

The Green Bay Packers have made a pair of transactions on Saturday, according to Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports:

Lattimore last played in the Packers' Week 13 game against the New England Patriots, injuring his ankle on special teams. He hasn't practiced since, didn't play in the Week 14 game against the Atlanta Falcons and had already been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills on the team's injury report.

In 11 games, including five starts, Lattimore made 26 tackles, two sacks and an interception. After signing a one-year contract in the offseason, he'll become an unrestricted free agent at season's end.

Banjo spent the entirety of the 2013 season on the Packers' active roster, finishing second on the team with 10 special teams tackles and 12 more on the defensive side of the football.

The Packers safety was released at the end of training camp and has been on the team's practice squad for all of the 2014 regular season.

It's unclear whether Banjo will be on the Packers' gameday roster on Sunday when they take on the Bills, but if he is, he figures to play primarily on special teams.

Banjo was one of the better special teams player in 2013 and in the preseason. I think he could be a solid contributor down the stretch as a special teams ace

What is interesting is that GB promoted Banjo, a safety, over RB Neal, OT Vujnovich, or even one of the WRs, Gillette or Myles White. Safety probably is the area of least need, so it does look like Banjo was promoted for his Special Teams ability. As a note, Buffalo has a pretty good KR and PR.
