Report: CB Tramon Williams Making Free Agent Visit with New Orleans Saints
Williams reached free agency without coming to a contract extension with the Packers and is now exploring his options.
The new league year started without the Green Bay Packers and cornerback Tramon Williams agreeing on a contract extension, and now he'll visit the New Orleans Saints, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN:
Packers free-agent CB Tramon Williams will visit the New Orleans Saints tonight, per source.

After agreeing to deals with both wide receiver Randall Cobb and offensive Bryan Bulaga, Williams would appear to be next on the Packers' to-do list, if possible.
The Packers already reportedly lost fellow cornerback Davon House in free agency, agreeing on a contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Other teams have also reportedly expressed interest in Williams, including the Philadelphia Eagles and Seattle Seahawks, although the Seahawks may no longer be interested after coming to terms with Cary Williams in free agency.
In 2010, offensive lineman Chad Clifton reached free agency and set up a visit with Washington before eventually agreeing on a deal with the Packers, and it's possible the same could happen here.
If the Packers were to lose both House and Williams, their depth at the cornerback position would suffer a blow, but they still have players like Sam Shields, Casey Hayward, Micah Hyde and Demetri Goodson under contract.

Makes sense, that is close to home for Tramon.

Whoever signs him is getting a good CB, thats all I know. Hope GB ups their offer a bit to get him to stay something like 3 yrs 13 million thats 4.33ish per year.

I wouldn't guarantee 50% of Tramon's contract, even though I have been a consistent supporter of Tramon and his abilities.

If Williams signs elsewhere that really will send the Packers need for a CB to the top of the list. Their top needs will be ILB and CB.
I do wonder if the Packers maybe would be interested in bringing in Charles Tillman for a year and drafting a CB high.

I think the Packers have 3-4 yr. window to make it to the SB, possibly several times, since AR, Jordy, Randall, Bulaga are on board and AJ and BJones are out. With Tramon in the fold, that would give us somewhat of a comfort level for at least that window.

As long as Rodgers is healthy and elite, they have a chance to win it all. It has been that way his Rodgers 2nd year starting.

Brandon Browner is also heading to NO for a visit.
The Saints are in extreme cap duress. They were bad last year and lost a bunch of key players. Brees is a year older, too. I doubt they can offer much to Williams beyond being near to home.
Certainly the Packers offer a better chance at winning. I would bet they have a more lucrative offer on the table than the Saints can make.

I agree with your thoughts.

I have a feeling that Tramon ends up back in the fold. I don't know that anyone is going to give him the contract he wants. With House gone the Packers may up the ante a bit to bring him back. There are not a lot of good options out there right now. I'm starting the draft Trae bandwagon right now, whether Williams comes back or not.

Meanwhile, #Saints made a major push to sign CB Brandon Browner yesterday, offering him more than $5M per year. Could help that locker room
I wonder if signing Browner takes them out of Tramon. I'd think so.

I hope so.

The Saints have some kind of salary cap bulimia. They do the binge and purge thing big-time each Feb/March.

What's weird is even with all the binging they stay fat, but somehow squeeze into those size 32 jeans.
Last year they had like $10 in cap space and got Byrd. Now by trading Graham, they actually lost cap space but re-signed Ingram and are looking at Browner, Tramon and who knows who else.

I think they are trying to remain competitive while they still have Brees. But with so much cap space going to dead money, they are doing it in an extremely foolish manner. Which was reflected in their record last year.
