Report: Bryan Bulaga to Have Surgery on Torn ACL

It appears Bryan Bulaga will not have a chance to play on his injured ACL.

Bulaga's season isn't definitely over, though. According to ProFootballTalk:

While ACL surgery typically knocks a guy out for the year, it’s too early to assume Bulaga won’t be back in 2013 (or early 2014).  The Packers could carry him on the roster like the Steelers did with cornerback Rod Woodson, who tore an ACL in Week One of the 1995 season and returned to play in the Super Bowl.  Also, the Packers could use their one short-term IR designation on Bulaga, allowing him to return at any point after Week Eight.

You would have to think it unlikely that they would carry him on the 53 in hope he would be right by December and able to compete at a high level straight away?

He's done for the year. I guess we just have to hope Bakhtiari keeps impressing, that's all we can do.

I read a list of LT's for the last five Super Bowl champions and it was truly underwhelming. Not saying it isn't important, maybe just not as important as you'd think.

Makes sense, since elite LTs are kind of like elite RBs. They're great to have unless you're paying them a good chunk of your salary cap space.
