Packers president Mark Murphy expressed concern Brett Favre would be booed at a potential jersey retirement ceremony. We discuss.

Episode 417

Packers president Mark Murphy expressed concern that Brett Favre would be booed at a potential jersey retirement. Despite being against Favre having his jersey retired in the first place, I wouldn't boo, although it seems there is a vocal minority that would. That and the Packers annual financial report highlight today's episode...

Enjoy.

No need for booing.

#4 did well for the Pack, maybe not the best parting of the ways, but the good far outweighs the bad.

I guarantee that the Packers have done some internal polling just like politicians do. They know the percentage of fans that will boo. They know the percentage of fans that will quietly clap. They know the percentage of fans that will loudly cheer. I'm sure they have a margin of error of 2 or 3 percentage points.

I'd guess 30-40 percent loud boos which would drown out the 10 percent loud cheers. The rest would be indifferent/apathetic quiet clappers.

Anyway, Murphy knows exactly how loud the boos will be. And if they aren't going to bring Favre in 2014, that means the boos will be loud. Ha!
And even louder once you add in the alcohol factor. Politeness has an inverse relation with alcohol consumption. ;)

Well just throw out the 17 good years or so the Brett put in with the Pack. It ended horribly on both sides, not sure anyone loves how it ended and surely not me. Can anyone just move on and get it over with.

I tell you what I would do. If I ever got my hands on Scrap Iron Favre, I would give him the old claw. Then I would boo him as he's lying on the ground in excruciating pain, then when he says he's had enough, I would pick him up, brush him off and tell him now we are finally even and then congratulate him into the Packers family. That's just me. Everyone has a different opinion on him I guess.

Posters that are mostly pro-Favre concentrate on his more notable ACHIEVEMENTS while playing for the Packers.

Favre detractors concentrate on his BEHAVIOUR during the breakup with the Packers and after. He could hardly have done anything more to ruin his legacy with Packer fans.

I'm in the detractor camp. If you are unsure which camp you are in, just see if you think of his achievements or his personality first

In my opinion Favre received all the worship and compensation he deserved while he was with the Packers. In the last four years that he was a Packer, he was jerking the team around about retirement, who they should add to the team and how the offense should be run and he's been jerking the organization around ever since he left. I don't understand why the Packers keep chasing him, it's makes the organization look weak and needy. Just leave him alone. Surely the organization has more important things to do. What if he never agrees to have his number retired? What if he says yes and then changes his mind? What then?!

lol.. Oh my God, that was so funny and oh so true. Excellent post Razor. I could see Favre actually doing some of that still. I do agree chasing this guy around does make them look like a bunch of sissy women. Always catering to him. I hate it too.

Hope the Pack wins it all again this year. With 2 Titles under their belt he may never show. As good as he was he just couldn't get that 2nd one. The ugly int bug kept rearing its ugly head at the wrong times late in his career. When he threw the pick in the NFCCG against the Giants in OT, I said he just threw his last pass as a Packer.

4th and One, to be honest, I wanted Favre gone after his 6 int game against the Rams in the playoffs. That was about as pathetic performance as I ever saw. I knew we would never win another super bowl with this turnover machine of a quarterback and we didn't.
