Q&A with New Packers Center Corey Linsley

The fifth round draft choice of the Packers discusses the type of player he is.

Cheesehead TV was at the NFL Combine, where new Green Bay Packers center Corey Linsley met with the media.

Here's what the fifth round draft choice had to say:

Question: I imagine the doctors checked out your foot, with the Lis-franc injury you had in 2012. Was that an issue at all last season?

Linsley: It was fine actually. I played like 90 snaps in the Cal game. It was good after Cal. Pain-wise it was never really an issue.

Question: Three years ago you were suspended for the first two games and now you’re here. How would you describe that?

Linsley: It’s been a rollercoaster, really like Ohio State’s been a rollercoaster in the past five years. It’s been crazy, but that’s why I think it’s such a blessing for me to be there. I’ve definitely had a lot of questions about the suspension—everybody asked me about that—but I just have to be honest and truthful.

Question: Where are you training?

Linsley: I’ve been at Ohio State.

Question: What’s the strangest interview question you’ve gotten?

Linsley: ‘C’mon man, you had to experiment with stuff.’ He was trying to get me to say I did some crazy stuff. Really, honestly there haven’t been too many crazy questions for me.

Question: You got the paper clip question, right?

Linsley: I came up with some good answers for the paper clip. My most interesting answer was you could make a necklace out of it for your kid if you have a kid. I thought it was all right. It’s creative, right?

Question: What was the exact question?

Linsley: In a minute, list the ways you could use a paper clip.

Question: You’re projected as a late-round pick. What do you think of that?

Linsley: Obviously, I want to go as high as possible. If I can show teams that I deserve to be a little bit higher, that’s great. I feel I’ve worked hard enough to be considered a higher pick than just late round. Regardless, wherever I’m picked doesn’t matter. At the end of the day, it’s how hard you work and what you get out of the process.

Question: You and Jack Mewhort are here, but two senior linemates—Andrew Norwell and Marcus Hall—aren’t. What are your thoughts about that?

Linsley: Obviously I would have loved to have them here. I think they’re extremely deserving of being here, especially with the statistics we put up and how well we played. It’s unfortunate but our pro day always has a bunch of people there. I honestly believe they’re going to have extremely successful careers in football. Regardless they’re smart dudes. We’re all level-headed guys and will be all right.

Love this pick. Nice to see them draft an actual center. I watched the Clemson tape on him, he looked great. Strong kid. I wouldn't be surprised to see him start this year.
