#PackersDaily: Playing the waiting game

The Jets have made their pitch. The Packers have made it clear they're ready to move on. Both teams (along with much of the NFL) await word from Aaron Rodgers.

I have heard that the trade compensation is set. I have also heard that the Packers are looking for a 2023 first (and some kind of 2024 pick that depends on whether Rodgers plays in 2024). Hopefully this leads to something?

Lots of talk about package deals though the source, Sauce Gardner, isn't a good as the ones Nags is relying upon.

GB doesn't have to adjust any other contracts at the moment. A couple have roster bonuses due on March 19 or 20, but Bakh's $9.5M is due March 17, a week from today, so decisions have to be made on those players before the bonus gets paid.

GB can still free up cap space. Here are what the mostly likely avenues are:

$12.028M - Bakh
$3.336M -- Rasul Douglas
$2.268M - Campbell
$3.025M - Gary (normal terms of an extension)
$0.548M - O'Donnell
$21.205M total or $15.505M if Bakh is traded pre June.

GB is $13M under the cap as of March 15, new league year start, which includes a 2nd round tender for Nijman. $5M in-season piggy bank, PS, and 52nd and 53rd contracts eat up close to $11.3M. GB is still ok, about $2M in the black. Signing draft picks costs a little under $4.7M. Need $2.7M more cap. Trading AR costs $9M, so now need $11.7M more.

I still want Leavitt, Wilson, Hollins, Ford if possible, even Tyler Davis. Hard to keep Nixon.
Pretty much done if Bakh is traded along with AR. If they keep Bakh, GB would have $9.5M or so to spend on a Nixon, Tonyan, Lazard or outside UFA.

Forgot Runyan ($1.4M relief) , the break in case of emergency or if GB gets a first or second round pick for Bakh.

He's as much as the next three combined, and more. If I'm understanding you correctly, we need almost $12 million

I'm not in the trade Bakhtiari camp. I'm in the "get guys blocked" camp. But Bakhtiari can be replaced, and it does look like the team is going to need the money.

This is the downside of free agency......you have to let guys go for financial reasons and not football reasons.

XXXXXXXXXXXX

Greengold was on the multi-player swap , including Bakhtiari. I'm not quite as eager to embrace things like this, but it could happen. I wonder if the clowns/bozos/incompetents at 1265 have actually considered any of these scenarios (yeah, I'm sure they have).

I'd like extra picks in the Top 100 in this draft, and I'd like to remove as much pressure from the cap as is practical. If that means parting company with Bakhtiari, I'm OK with that, but we already have a need to upgrade our Oline, and this means we have to do that AND replace a really good LT. That's probably two picks in the Top 100 and another on Day 3 for blockers.

If keeping Bakhtiari has the added bonus of saving us $9.5 and facilitating the signing of these guys you mentioned, then I really think all of that is worth more than a draft pick.

Jets want him bad. One dude said he’d cut his pinky toe off to get him there. If im the packers… Id bluff. Id say 2 1sts One this this year and one next. If Rodgers goes to the jets an lights it up we could have a top 5 pick next yr…. everyone is happy. Unless he retires… then he screws both teams :-)

To be clear. Aaron Rodgers is not deciding where he wants to play. The Packers don't want him.

Imagine if you told your boss that you wanted to retire with the organization. You do your job and contribute to the success of your company that you have been doing your whole career. You lead your company to a very successful year, All is going well, you are happy and your company is happy. Your boss has a chance to help you help the company you by filling holes that would lead to a more successful year, and the solution your boss comes up with is to replace you.

You work harder to prove your worth and perform at an even higher level for the next 2 years for the company you have spent your whole life with. They gush over you and you are rewarded for your effort with a raise. . Then you get sick. You still show up for work every day and give it everything you have because the company means that much to you. The company doesn't have a good year and they kick you to the curb because they decide you are not worth the money they invested and turn to your replacement that you were part of training.

You know that you are getting older and tell the company you understand they may need to go to the younger employee. No hard feelings. You explain to the company that you need a little time to decide whether to continue your career with a new company or just call it good and retire.

Put yourself in that place in your job, your life, and maybe it will be easier to understand what Aaron Rodgers is going through, and why he needs a little extra time.

And you know what doesn't bother me? Keyboard warriors who can't keep up a cogent argument with anyone who disagrees with them, so they resort to silly, immature name calling while hiding behind their computers on an anonymous website. Now that's the definition of chickenshit. And the reason it doesn't bother me is because I have zero doubt neither of you would have the balls to ever to do it to my face.

And if you don't want negative responses to your posts, stop posting ridiculous nonsense like Jake Hanson will bring a 2nd round pick in trade. Now that deserved some name calling, but I guess I'm just a bit more mature than you and the guy with the goofy avatar.

By the way, I rarely downvote. Maybe the only thing your hero and I have in common.

You know, Princess, when you sit there and scream "GO FUCK YOURSELF" and other things, it kind of rings hollow when you climb on your victim horse and denounce "name-calling', which for the most part, only applies to you, since you're the only one .

As far as balls, you have a standing offer to meet me in person at the place of your choosing. Then you can tell me to GO FUCK YOURSELF in person. You're the biggest coward I've ever seen, repeatedly saying things behind the safety of your keyboard that would almost certainly result in a fight if you said them in person. I can't believe you get in several fights a week, so I'm assuming you don't talk to people like that in person.

You are mentally ill. You're inflicting your illness on other people. I know you won't/can't stop. Sadly, when you confine your commentary to football, you actually have some clarity at times. Unfortunately, you can't stop making it personal with posters.....just like this post.

A tip. Talk about football. Stop taking shots at people. You'll find that people won't realize what you are.

As far as Jake Hanson, I don't think he's worth a 2nd. But that's JMO. I don't feel a need to insult people who have a different idea. This may surprise you, but I disagree with most people on most things, but there's only one that I call Princess Nitwit.

Do I have derogatory nicknames for Coldworld? TGR? Or maybe Stockholder and Lphill? No. Just you, you're the one who has earned that distinction. And then I go for an extended period, carefully trying not trigger you, even changing my avatar, not arguing with you or mentioning you, and you still can't stop doing what you do.

So no. You're not a victim. You are causing this, and I'd be happy to come and explain this to you face to face. I've gone through my entire life without beating up a woman or an old man and I'd like to keep it that way, but I'm so completely and thoroughly tired of your whining crap at this point that I'd be willing to consider it.

One last chance. You can simply ignore me, stop complaining about me, stop bringing me into your posts, stop taking shots at me. And if you do this, I'll extend the same courtesy to you. I've asked you this many times over the years, and you've always declined, because you like to agitate.

I'd urge you to consider it again. I don't like doing this, I'm sure the other posters don't like coming to this site and reading this crap, Jersey Al would probably prefer we didn't do this. You have the power to make all of this stop.

MPF, you took time to put together a thoughtful piece on how you view 12's decision. Thanks. Let the thumbing slide off your back like water off a moose. Imho, I think the site could do without the thumbs. This isn't reddit or facebook, and imaginary internet points aren't worth the imaginary document they're not printed on. They can't be redeemed for imaginary worthless prizes.

I've gotten better at scrolling past those I don't enjoy reading, and interact with those I like, or at least find interesting. No thumbs up or down in my world. There are some great people here that I enjoy very much. The rest I try to cut some slack. To me that's the only really sensible thing to do. Nothing wrong with voting up or down one or the other. I tend to keep my comments relatively brief mainly because there's so many great comments opinions and viewpoints listed and offered that unless I have something worthwhile to add, a simple vote usually suffices. It's just a vote expressing agreement or disagreement. I simply prefer to keep the focus on football.

Keeping it to football is what’s best here. We’re all different, and have unique perspectives to share. I think that makes this the Top Packers Forum that I’ve ever been a part of since jumping in on the very 1st Packers forum in 1993. JSOnline Packers Forum. Nice work, CHTV.

Actually he only holds two of the cards. He doesn't hold the playing for the Packers card. If he did, that's the one he would play.

" he wants to be courted because of his ego"

So did Rodgers fill you in on what he's thinking, or are you filling in the blanks for him? For all we know AR may have already given the Packers and Jets his answer and it's the details that we are waiting on. None of the 3 parties are speaking.

OK, you want response.

You write the story of the loyal employee who cares about organization.

Lets try this narrative.

You have employee that did a lot, but really a lot for your organization. But, with age he started to perform on the job less and less effective. He started to complain about his superior, claiming that all "problems" that employee has is the result of bad work from his superior. You checked and conclude that those complaints maybe not completely fair, but there were some truth about them. So, you decide to gire his superior, because you hope that those problems your employee had was the product of missunderstandings between employee and his superior. He became so pissed of, si you, because he means a lot to you, decide to on ugly way part with his superior (who was also loyal to your organization and basically made that employee as excellent on his job as he is/was). You hired more friendly person to be your next superior and asked you to calm down and do not become the problem). New "relation" started but employee performance still were not at the former level, and employee hinted that he might decide to retire. You accepted what you heard and decide to hire very young person to school him while you still working, trying to respect employee wishes to retire when he decide and to have young replacement for his job.

At first your employee stated that he understands your decision and looked calm and undisturbed. But, by time employee noticed how good or excellent young guy is and that he has a lot of row talent and suddenly started to fear for his job. That year he heavily improved his performance and it was like everything is OK.

By time new cycle of bringing young guys to the organization just to be started and you made your plans how to improve your employees core to preceed. Suddenly your employee leaked the news that he is done with your organization and that you do not want to work for you - he is done will never ever work for you. Now, you know that your young replacement is not ready to take over the job and you decide to sprak with your employee. Finally, you made arrangement with him to come back and fulfill his contract extension. He accepted but asked and get, as condition of agreement some rights nobody has in the organization or on your competitors. He went on vacation.

He came back from vacation and organized press conference during wich he was heavily spitted on the organization and all your management.

You silently went over that escapade. But, you got, from your employee, worse performance, not much but still, that year. There were some changes in middle management (new DC, STC), and your employee again started to talk about retirement. His most closed working friend left the organization and you were not able to replace that person. So, you decided to extend contract by offering much more money to him. As you had limits with the budget, you decided to borrow the money from the future to satisfy appetites of your employee. But, you become tired of his "should I go or should I stay" story and he worked (presumed injured) pretty bad for his standards. At one moment young replacement was pushed to finish one job your employee eas not able to do because of injury and he excelles.

You decide that it is the time, but, from respect of your employee you involved him in that discussion. He got time to make decision A, B or C and he did. You try to help him that decision to become accomplished.

That is how I saw you story about employee!

I hope you are now satisfied.

Thank you!

I apologize for typo mistakes. I'm typing from the phone. Small letters and fat fingers do not go well together.

croat, Yes, that is the kind response that I prefer. Though I disagree with much of what you said, I appreciate your response and I gave you a nice big upvote :). Thank you.

MainePackFan, you may not disagree, but I just discribed what and when happened. I did not change any fact. Al those facts (except the reason why ACR waited full season to react on Jordan Love draft - that is my opinion). All events are well documented and you can search for them.

Thank you!

Or, youre a discruntled employee, they got rid of your favorite toy. So you refused to play the system. Spend an entire offseason not getting to know your new toys and only doing the bare minimum contractually. thats what the kids term these days as “ quiet quitting”. Also imagine being Adams… go to a place to play for your buddy …and your buddy gets traded to the Saints…. I think this is also a bit about money, Last uear Rodgers liked bitcoin and mentioned as much on Macaffe. And we all know where bitcoin went. Just sayin.

Well I guess i won't feel sorry at all for Aaron Rodgers. He still is going to make $60 million next year and he will be in New York. New York will offer Aaron way more opportunities to be in advertisements and to just be famous. He will love the attention. I also don't thing the stage will be too big for him there. Yes his skills have diminished some but Aaron Rodgers @ 90% is still better than 3/4 of the starting QBs in NFL. I wish him well but I won't feel sorry for him. It' not the same as losing a $150000 job with no new job to support your family. He is still kind of rich.

My only thought this morning is to regret that this wasn’t all over this time last year. Just seems like everyone wasted a year and it got more not less messy.

Sigh! So true. Brings to mind the Rolling Stones song Time Waits for No One. Hours are like diamonds don't let them waste.
